A pirogue is a kind of canoë made from a "one piece of tree" .. very long and narrow ( longue et étroite ).... une chaloupe plate ..... To Pole is to use a long stick to make it advance on the water ..... la faire avancer avec une perche.

@nicholasbhicks "Poling" is using a long pole to propel and steer a flat-bottomed boat (called a "piroque") across the bayou. The pole is pushed down into the water (which is very shallow) and into the mud at the bottom of the bayou, and the user pushes the boat along. Hope this helps!

i remember sitting in my car singing this song such a good song and so catchy and also why did they put welcome to mississippi picture in there this is a for Louisiana
@TheKing59159 Yes, you're correct. I believe the story is that after CCR disbanded, Fogerty contractually owed Fantasy (the label he now despised) one more album, so he put out an offering of nothing but covers. The original album cover didn't even have his name on it. I may have some of my details incorrect, but I am certain that this is not in fact CCR.
Fabulous version by CCR of a 'Hank' song. I also wish peace to the peaceful Azores. I'm from North Carolina & I love the Azores, especially Sao Miguel.
i dance to this song everyday

Thanks for the tune, and thanks for the lyrics! I have been singing them SO wrong for years!!

Of course this is John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival, but released under the name "Blue Ridge Rangers" in 1972 !
John played all instruments himself, took him a few years to learn this.
Chapeau !!
