My childhood was the same way, except that the Democrats were evil. I remember my dad always saying, "Straight Republican ticket!" It wasn't until I started dating my first boyfriend who was big into politics that I even really knew the difference between the two parties.
One of those pivotal moments that we all have tumble through our mind when shaken by some current event or situation...but you took the time to share it, and it was special, so thank you.
