I saw the movie with little hope and damn, was it amazing. It was such an insane movie, the fight scenes and shoot outs were crazy. It was even more insane than 300. It needs to be seen in theaters. I felt some parts were slow but they were worth waiting to see the "holy shit" moments car races. Try to imagine F-Zero and Twisted metal put on steroids. The races was even better than the Grind House's Death Proof. I want to see that movie again.

You know what's really sad? Some people are going to hate this movie because they think the special effects look fake and the movie looks cheesy, but what they don't understand is that this special effects are supposed to look fake and and the movie is supposed to be cheesy. It gives the movie a true live action anime look that is true to Speed Racer. Plus, if you actully look at what the movie has, it is very true to the show.

No I think the visuals are perfect for Speed Racer... but the storyline is poor. I miss the original clunky Speed Racer dialog with the broken english.

Why? The story is about Speed fighting evil coperations fixing races for profit. That sounds like something strait form the show. Plus, why would you want the clunky broken english from the show. I mean the novie is doing all kinds of stuff to stay true to the original, byt the have to draw the line somewhere.

This is nowhere true to the original series. Racer X did not fake his death. Racer X wore a white suite with a black X on the mask. Why is the "improved car" called the Mach 6. Why the need to improve a care that drives underwater, is bulletproof, can hurtle through the air, has built in oxygen, saw blades, etc. The care doesn't even really look like the Mach 5. I have a picture of a Mach 5 I can send you that was built by true fans & it's more to spec than the movie car.

So what if racer X suit is black, it doesn't change the character. Now I know this may sound odd considering the style of this movie, but a white suit would look silly in live action IMO. And the car is still going to be the Mach 5, it just starts off as the Mach 6, and is later upgreded to the Mach 5 (I know thats odd, but its the truth) And if you look at other clips for this movie, you would see the car the movie has the Mach 5 and has all it's button activated gadgets that it had in the show

Also, I know Racer X away in the show, but if you ignore that fact can you tell me how Racer X is different then who he was in the show? Plus this movie is made by Speed Racer fans who are also talented directors. Of course they will change some stuff, but there is no way they will disrespect a show they love.

Actually speed racer isn't the original name. when the cartoon version came to the US in the 60's it's name was changed from Mack 5 go go to speed racer for American audiences... supposably my soruce?... npr
