Of course every test counts, but on occasions that counted more, Graham Henry blew it by trying funky shit. 2005 NZ that slaughtered the Lions was a world beating team, any subsequent squad should be built around it (Nonu for Umaga being the exception). I just don't get how taking the squad out of the S14, then introducing Brendon Leonard and expect him to be in impact sub every game, not to mention taking Mauger (the best 12 on Earth by a long way) for Mccalister was gonna help.
