Good Music is Good music, It's as simple as that. Your ears heard an amazing song, and despite the stereotyping, you heard past skin color into a realm of amazing singing. Why does Benny's voice seem very raspy at times and sometimes not all. For example, there are a few recent vids of him doing this live and he sounds almost identical to the 1980 recording. Another example is the Roy Orbison tribute concert.

When I broke up with my girlfiend in 1988, I used to go to the bar every night. At closing time, they would play this song while I sat on the bar stools and cried. It was a really lonely time in my life. All the memories, the heartbreak and loss. Just like this song says "It's like having a dream and watching it fall apart". So true .... so true. What a jaded year that was back in 1988. Since having a triple bypass operation in 2001, I sometimes wonder if the grief I experienced caused it.
