Alan is the greatest expert on popular organ music in the world today. I thank him for this excellent and sensitive presentation of Lenny Dee and his wonderful music. Lenny was the most unique of all the Hammond organists. His recording career spanned 28 years with the same company. Lenny could also tell stories, sing, he had a dog act in his show for many years, do comedy routines and entertain with that great organ music that thrilled audiences for years. Lenny, you were the best! Dave R.
Thank you Alan for making this series of videos, they provide a wealth of information on the Organ-World Legends. I was turned-on to Lenny Dee by the late, great Jim Harris, a truly magnificent organist (YouTube nickname - 6a65682), with him and the brilliant Rudy Rosa both having the incredible gift of being able to mimic very closely Lenny's playing style, and doing a fine job of reproducing the distinctive Lenny Dee sound. I eagerly await your next instalment.
Ooooh, Boy! I can remember I had just started roller skating shortly before Lenny's Plantation Boogie came out .... what a popular song that turned out to be -- especially for the "Ladies Only" skate!
Many thanks for the great video and beinging back some wonderful memories!
