The Defy is a very capable phone if you know how to use it. I STILL haven't seen a 3D game that won't work on this. It's a REAL shame that Motorola won't upgrade this to at least 2.3...but I guess that's why custom roms exists :)

Can anyone help me? I'm from Western Australia. Im looking for the Motorola Defy, all black, on the Optus network. In store, Optus keep telling me it doesnt come in all black version. I know it does though. Where can I get the black one on the Optus network? I know you can.

@ClarkTheAwesome This phone has been one of our best selling models internationally for some time. The vast majority of owner experience has been positive. There was a technical issue early on with speaker, but that was resolved in new production. It cannot play HD/3D games. It is actually pretty slick for its intended purpose. Android 2.2 update has been smooth and well received. DEFY+ is an improved phone for sure so it maybe worth waiting. Motorola ATRIX is worthy of your consideration too.

@lucasl86 Initially you have upto 2gig internal memory for apps which is a good size for most users. When the product is upgraded to 2.2 then it will allow for storage of most apps to SD card.

@DistincTHD so 2GB internal is for apps, photos, music, video etc. The external card, until the froyo update, will only support media, so your photos, music and video. With the Froyo upgrade you will also be able to save apps to SD card. Hope that clarifies. Thanks.

the pros are obvious.

cons:

- apps you use remain open, if you exit them > if a lot apps are open > no smooth > need a 3rd party app > task killer > smooth

- motoblur is not bad, but also not very advanced > there are alternatives

- photo quality is bad. android 2.2 should fix this.

- amazon mp3 app and the app where you can lay back and say, what you wanna do. ok, no problem. do not need these, but ok - BUT WHY THE HECK THESE APPS STARTS AUTOMATICALLY? is there an option to stop it forever?

@uptherewidgod the glass is corning gorilla glass which is highly resistive to scratches and bumps....try to break it and you eventually probably will, but equally it doesn't need to be treated like a baby or wrapped in horrible plastic cases ;) hope that helps.

That said we planned to ship last week into Germany but were awaiting final technical approvals that are now all in place and we have started to ship to customers this week. There is always a delay then from our shipments to then getting this into retail distribution but at least you know that the product is all approved, and is now shipping so it is a matter of a week before available instore to buy.
