  • the best phone ever!

  • GET`:,A:.:FREE`,`DROID.,;PHONE`',

  • Nobody can hate this phone except Steve jobs !

  • I love Linux...

  • hey if i want to use the web without a wifi connection...and i have 500mb worth of mbs that come with the plan that im on...would the 500mb watse quickly?????

  • looks good

  • O M F G this phone is TEH shit guys.

    I love it

  • Helo ...i js got a n900 frm de philippines...!! n wen i open de application manager n refresh the maemo org....it says failed catalogs y??

  • does tmobile charge extra to use this phone ,? like internet access outstide of wifi

  • It can use the 32GB card its just noticably slower so this phone can carry up to 64GB of memory when combined with the internal 32GB memory.

  • can i watch videos or movies on nokia N900 please tell me please answer me.

  • @koollafta yes..it support many codec such avi. and many more

  • @koollafta lol dude ofcourse u can, it supports avi, wmv,mp4 and many more

it has 32 gb built in memory and u can add more memory to it so yeah basically u can watch a couple of movies on it i got 4 movies on mine XD and some simpsons and family guy episodes

  • @makmeg or people that dont want to get a virus and have to pay money for virus protection and a faster computer...and yes its easier to use but its that way so new people to computers(such as old people)will buy one and come back for one over and over again

  • 0:00 laughter

  • freaking thick!! u can kill fish with thoose!!

  • @TheKkd123 Internet Tablet Are'nt Thin....Way Too Much Power For It To A Thin Device.

  • is nokia prepaid.?

  • @sesmas100

    omg lmfao at you.

    nokia isnt a phone company.

optus, telstra, virgin, etc etc are phone companies and yes all companies do have prepaid, plans etc for your cellular phone.

    ha.

  • not a good phone at all

mine didn't play videos out of the box

not even the ones already on the phone

doesn't play real audio even with codecs and os update installed

  • no capacitive touchscreen = instafail

  • In The Winter, Capacitive Touchscreens Suck, Taking Your Gloves Off Every Time You Wanna Touch The Screen Gets Really Annoying.

  • who the hell uses cellphones with their gloves? typing is impossible anyways, because you dont get the feedback through the gloves.

don't get me wrong, i'm not an apple fanboy, but the iPhone screen is superior, while nokia is superior on the hardware and software part. conclusion: i don't buy any of these devices and stick to my n95 8gb

  • "who the hell uses cellphones with their gloves"? People With Resistive Touchscreens (N900,N97, TP2 Etc)

Resistive Is Based On Pressure So You Can Keep Your Gloves While Using The Phone, Just Press The Buttons With Semi-Hard. Capacitive Is Based On The Heat From You Fingers So You Can Press The Buttons As Hard As You Want With Gloves On, The Screen Will Never Respond Unless You Take Your Gloves Off.

I Would Stick To My N95 8gb Also If It Had A SD Card Slot. I Got Too Much Songs For 8gb.

  • its Nock-ia...not Noke-ia!!!!

  • i agree!

  • How much is it ????

  • best phone yet

  • Two gripes for me about this phone - bad keyboard, no att 3g compatible version.

I might get a n810 to just use with my phone's tethering capability.

  • the keyboard is great

  • Thanks for showing me the side of the Nokia i havent seen one yet, but i want to buy one, it looks great!!

  • can u switch between lanscape and portrait view??

  • is this better than the HTC TOUCH PRO 2??

  • Wtf!? Why does the space bar on this phone's keyboard have to be on the right? Nokia doesn't think about us leftys using our left thumbs for that -_-...

  • xperia x10 or this?

does anyone know when xperia x10 is realeased?

  • well i dont know where u live but i know that in the uk xperia x10 comin out like february 10th

  • N900 is much better then I-Phone:

    I-Phone has no...

    GPS

    MMS

    "real" Bluetooth

    no SD- Card.....

  • @luinearan You're comparing this to the iphone? Lol. This has (deep breath) better camera (with flash), keyboard, open sourced os, better resolution screen, stereo speakers, up 48gb storage, fm receiver and transmitter, full flash browsing, multitasking, better video capabilities, faster hsdpa, customisable UI, changable battery, IR port, full bluetooth and oh, it's cheaper unlocked!

  • @cirkusarena new iphone kicks this phones ass

  • @DaMonsterMonster ......heh - Apple has launched an ugly, inferior iphone 4. No AMOLED, no Flash web, no card slot, restricted OS, old fashioned UI (No widgets), a worse camera than a 5 year old N82, and it's already been whupped by Nokias N8, HTC Desire and EVO 4G, and will cost you over $2000 during the 2 year contract.

  • @cirkusarena now compare this garbage to iphone 4...

  • @Mischakal Firstly, I would take this over an iphone any day of the year. I don't have one, because I had a 3GS, and dumped it for a Desire. However, I was seriously tempted at the time - it offered me an open ended device, where as I couldn't even use bluetooth properly on iphone, with a keyboard and up to 48GB on board - iphone 4 still doesn't match that. The N900 is a gadget fans phone, the iphone is a iphone fans phone... I got bored with mine very quickly.

  • @cirkusarena so what? thats your fault, having "desire"! god! desire cant even compete with iphone. if you said evo, i would understand. but desire? really? and how did you get bored of iphone? cant understand ya.

  • @Mischakal Allow me: Maemo 5 is an open platform, iOS4 is not. N900 will allow swapping of a battery, iPhone 4 does not. N900 allows expandable memory, iPhone 4 does not. Maemo 5 browser supports Flash, Safari on iPhone 4 does not. Better yet, just take an iPhone 4 and swap out the battery, put in a MicroSD card, play Flash on any webpage, and make a call while holding it in your left hand. Dude, you wouldn't buy a car that came with the hood welded shut, would you? If so, then enjoy that iCar.

  • @dyne2199 being an open platform does not mean anything to me. besides, i consider that as a negative side. and yet, i had a nokia and i didnt swap his battery in whole 2 years of usage. expandable memory is nothing, because they are sold 32 gb or lower, and if you expanded your memory of the phone, would it be over 32 gb? dont think so. BUT, you are truely right about the left-hand issue.

  • @Mischakal Open Platform = allowance for 3rd party apps. This is why so many iPhone users were jailbreaking their iPhones. Swapping a battery seems petty until it starts losing up to 50% of its capacity and you want a replacement without swapping the whole phone. The memory issue is simple: Need more than 32GB of storage? Pop in a MicroSD....but you aren't even permitted to do this on the iPhone. Seems petty, but it's the fact that you simply aren't permitted to do it.

  • @dyne2199 i knoe what an open platform is. and the ones who jailbreak their iphones should throw away iphone and get an open sourced phone that has all the shit inside, and threaten phone's security, in my opinion. moreover, why would you need more than a 32 gb storage in your PHONE? it's a PHONE, in the end. not a psp, not a computer or sth.

  • @Mischakal HTC and Nokia offer choice - Apple does not. Wanna Desire with a hardware keyboard? HTC Vision. N8 with keyboard = N9. I have 29GB of music, which is why having up to 48GB is a good thing for me, and others. The Desire is a perfect phone for me, as it has cloud computing (no paying for mobile me here), and an amoled screen which iphone missed out on. Add to that the restrictions imposed on iphones (bluetooth, multitasking, no flash) 2gether with a 5 yr old 5mp cam = no thx to ip4.

  • @Mischakal Iphone is great at gaming, but so is equally an ipod touch - the iphone experience hasn't changed since the first one appeared - rows and coloumns of icons, swipe left and right, open a program. No widgets, no true web experience, no file transferring without itunes and so on. I kept my iphone 3gs for 4 months, and then sold it, bought a second hand ipod for occasional gaming, and of course the Desire - with which I can at least view, edit and create word, excel and office documents.

  • loving and loving this phone

  • droid sucks.

  • I would trade the sleekiness to an actual keyboard anytime. That device packs the punch. All the flash-games work with it. After flash 10.1 (Nokias teams are the furthest developing it) everything will work.

Besides, when it has opensource Linux, I don´t care if it is a phone or not...

  • Every person that ive seen review this phone says "its also a phone (at 1:14)." Wth is it suppose to be if its not primarily a phone? lol. its crazy that these things arent even considered phones anymore.

  • If you inform yourself about the previous Nokia Internet Tablets (using the previous Maemo versions) you'll discover that they didn't have phone functionality (no GPRS/UMTS etc..); they were mainly made to surf the web, use applications, and call using VOIP.

  • well, most other devices are "telephones with internet-capability".

this device however is a "internet-tablet with telephone-capability".

and if i recall correctly, the predecessor of the n900, the n810, wasnt able to do phone calls at all (dont pin my down on that one, though. at least it wasnt a phone, but a pure internet-tablet, afaik)

  • Too thick. Permanent landscape mode us weird. I like the full flash support.

  • This phone cannot be used in portrait mode other than the phone application? That's a no go right there. I like the fact that that it has full flag support, but the Permanent landscape mode is bothersome. The phone looked extra thick too. There are other sliders that I would think are better than this.

  • Portrtrait mode is for phoning and viewing photos right now. There is also a portrait mode media player available, and more and more content will be made portrait mode through updates.

  • That phone is like a fucking brick

  • I like phones with a big screen, HTC HD2 for example is better.

  • first i thought he said full flash or flash light....but then again i rember the flash "lite" that we call.....i was laughing until i figured out the right one xD

  • Excuse me? "the layout and functions are more or less the same with every phone they have made". Well, it's the same thing when it comes to samsung, motorola and especially Sony Ericcson - But that's on the NORMAL man-on-the-street phone. Smartphones are configurable, and the standard layout may be boring, as on every default setup. But if u sit down, read the manual, it's amazing how much you can configure for your own personal lifestyle:) Just try it, it's great:p

  • the maemo operating system is soooo much better than android in so many aspects maemo is basically symbian on sterioids u can multitask on this device (im not even gonna call it a phone because it does so much more) this thing does what the iphone cant plus more u can text your friend talk on google talk if he has skype u can skype talk u have full flash support so basically this thing blows every other smartphone off the field it has full web browsing u have apps out the azz

  • hahah.. "the N900 is also a phone"

  • Hey guys, we are making a community for "Maemo Nokia N900". And the best place to be a part of it is at "maemo-nokian900(.)com" .... Do sign up.. and lets make this thing big

    Great Video... Good insight...

To be honest this might just beat IPHONE almost every single possition... maybe 1 its over powerd in.. thats the speed of scrolling.. but who cares...

    N900 FTW

  • hello my name is dr greenthumb im going to tell you just where i'm from

  • OMG this guy ask stupid questions..!

  • When this phone´s going to be available in the US?? Anyone knows?

  • Blogs have been saying a November release for the unlocked version. then theres rumors saying early 2010 release WITH T-mobile branding. but i hope the unlock version will be Nov. release

  • If you mean "piece" of shit, I would guess that's because you are a jealous iphone fanboy - I've tried the N900 at least, and it is a great device. It hasn't even launched yet , so how are you judging it ? And it's "rather" - not rarther....

  • sorry for my bad spelling mistakes im only 15 and don't lisen i english

  • Witch I like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no MMS

  • i kinda still like the N97 thow

getting it on da 13th !!

  • Whoa - cancel that and wait for the N900 - comes out on the 19th. Cheaper too!

  • anyone agree F@CK APPLE?

  • amen 2 that

  • PengUins G@ng B@ng Apple !

  • @makmegs new iphone kicks this phones ass

  • @DaMonsterMonster I hope you realise that anything that runs a linux kernel will always be better than anything running microsoft or apple software...

You obviously have zero to no knowledge about computer software :)

  • @makmegs o ya totaly...keep getting free software...u obviously dont hav enough money for apple products so u dont or i mean *cant* hav any expirience

  • @DaMonsterMonster

dumb ass, i used to have apple products and great comeback... nothing at all to do with the fact that mac software is useless in terms of visualization, personalization and control of the pc... Just shut up and move on. Linux wins, windows kind of wins, apple software just sucks balls

Apple was specifically made for idiots who dont know how to use computers ie you...

  • @makmegs YEAH F@$K APPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This seems like a a powerful device and I love that it has full flash...and I'ma let you finish, but I'd rather have a Pre, Touch Pro2, Leo, Hero, etc.

This phone is way too gigantic to have such a bunched up and terrible keyboard. Plus the UI looks really bland. Granted it's better than S60, but still.

  • Too bad this phone will be delay again just like usual to 1st November in Europe and don't know when this thing will comes out in ASIA-pacific any time soon. Atleast 2010 I guess.

  • No'1 Nokia!

  • I hope Nokia little by little gets rid of that symbian os. Now this is a phone.

  • Who's better at multitasking? htc Leo that has 325 mb ram or this¿

  • According to everything I've been able to find out, the N900 will multi-task a lot better than the htc. The N900 has, "Up to 1GB of application memory (256 MB RAM, 768 MB virtual memory)" With a total of 32gig internal storage and an additional 16gig in the card slot for a total of 48gig.

  • thats a decent phone but his voice is really annoying.

  • omg y are they keep making QWERTY keys with the space bar on the side? why not the middle? thats just silly

  • mmmmm lets seee mmmm CUZ ITS BETTER !!!!

  • so N900 and N97 both are the best... but i like n97 more =D

  • lol

r you out off ur mind

  • N97 look good but too long n thicker than N900. But it had a shitty CPU and only 128MB RAM, no virtual memory either. Very slow to do things and rauns out of RAM just like N95-1 when brwsing webpage. Basically, N97 uses what ever hardware the N95-8G used. Just a shitty ripped off .

  • same here :DDD

  • LOL @ "the n900 is also a phone"

  • it's main function isn't a being a phone, but expanding the N810/N800's features, and one of the extended features is being a phone.

    I'd buy it even if i didn't have a sim. :D

  • I don't know why you were down voted, you're right. The N900 is a web tablet/MID first, phone second.

  • Battery life? Hope it is not like charging every 4hours.. fuck that.. I want it to last atleast 12hours of average usage. And atleast 290hours stand by.

  • they said they're trying to get a full day "Wi-Fi on".

Doubtful, but I hope it'll be more than the N800... only 6 hours max.

  • Lets hope they dont sacrifice the CPU speed for battery life just like what they did to symbian phones.

  • they won't. this baby comes with an OMAP3xxx class CPU, clocked at 600Mhz, packed with PowerVR SGX and all the bells and whistles that we love. It's basicaly the same CPU/Memory config of Samsung's Omnia i8910, the differences lies on the OS and other details, like the better camera on i8910, the physical keyboard on the N900, resistive vs capacitive screen for N900 and Omnia respectively, etc.

  • I jst hope NOKIA included Multitouch hardware in it for future Maemo6 upgrade. All seem good but one wow factor is missing. it is Multi-touch. But if NOKIA release this world wide internationally a the same time then I bet there will be more hit. Cos people who want this cannot get it and have to wait like 6months later to get in some area and some may wait upto nearly a year for it in some countries.

  • They won't.

The CPU's running at 600 MHz. Which is plenty enough for it's size. (Plus it has 1GB ram (256mb physical, 7??mb virtual)

  • CPU is enough just on a verge of enough. Not very wow factor since there are many higher CPU specs already out there. The Iphone uses 3440 Cortex A8 with 800Mhz clock speed, and N900 using hte low end 3430 Cortex A8 only maximum of 600Mhz. They should have done better with the higher end CPU, and 36xx will do HD recording and HDMI output to TV. Which would kill an IPHONE back to its mummy tummy. lolx but well, this is still good enough for the time being.

  • NERD MAGIC??? FUCK YOU. Unsubscribe

  • this is coming for t-mobile US confirmed!!! :D

  • what happened to simple flip phones?

  • they died... :(

  • Does anyone know when the N900 will be released in The States & how much to get a hold of it?

  • Only the phone application can be used out of landscape mode??

  • Does anybody know if it has a DVB-H tuner ?

  • Woah.... His voice.

  • merlin output???

  • Nerd magic?

  • what network?

  • special sites? ;) ;)

  • hmmmm i wonder how the call and signal quality will be on the phone. but i like the look. just hope its worth the money

  • now.. Where are the iphone fanboys?

  • the N97 have a more decent look than this one but the software in N900 is the much improved software in N97

    N97hardware + N900software would be great.

  • if u mean just the looks then, it could be. but from my point of view, the N900 looks better.

But if u mean actual hardware specifications, the N900 is definitely better. (memory, processor etc)

  • c00l ph0ne.. how much does this phone cost in RINGGIT MALAYSIA??

  • Sooo...it's like an ugly Android knockoff with less developer support?

    Sounds like fun

  • Maemo has been used in Nokia's previous generations of MID's. For example the N800 or N810. The support is there.

  • I said "less" not "no"

  • I know. When I meant the support is there, I meant there is alot of support. IT is based on Linux which has a huge community backed up. It won't require much coding to port Linux apps onto the N900. It will be a hit, especially to geekfreaks like myself. =]

  • I'm glad they finally released a phone that is not symbian based =D, but what a short time between this one and the N97..

  • but they were net tablets... its a phone and is much smaller in size...

  • Nice device...phone...internet tablet...with two design flaws. 1 - The headphone jack is where your right palm would be when typing which makes typing uncomfortable when listening on headphone. The multitask switch menu "button" should be on the bottom of screen intead of top which is more reachable from the keyboard area when typing...not a deal killer on this and probably fixable in the next software upgrade. The headphone jack needs to move to the top when in landscape mode.

  • That will probably get fixed when it goes on a US company - thats an unlocked version, lets hope :P

  • "Nerd magic". XD

  • Wouldn't have bought my N97 if i'd have known about this... Oh well, start saving again. Things I'd like to see improved from the N97; Media syncing - should be some idiotproof software to keep photos, song and video synced. Ovi suite and Nokia's own software is awful. Plus I'd like to do without the need to "Refresh library" every time. A mobile "Itunes", showing online artist info, cover art etc would be good. The ability to leave backlight on when charging, and is it really "horizontal" only?

  • This phone looks very nice...my only concern is the cramped looking keypad

  • if you have fat fingers yea..

  • Curious about the camera lens cover - on the N97 the cover left big scratches on the lens which left the camera unusable after a while - and the N900 looks like the same thing. Anyone know anything about this?

  • its different because there is a space between the lens and the part that closes.

  • it scratches the lens but doesn't affect its camera performance. :)

  • Yes it does - many N97s mine included get reflections from the flash due to the scratches, which covers 30% of the picture with lens flare. I returned my first device, but my second has become equally scratched - it's a series flaw so I can't be bothered to return it again. If the N900 addresses this and some of the hopes I posted below, I'll get that - size doesn't bother me.

  • send it back again..they have an offical fix now i am told.

  • If u look closely its completely different, that was one of the first things i look, anyway even with the scratched lens it takes better pictures than my Iphone, so as soon as i can ill change it!

Bye bye Apple keep sodomizing other people, ur greed its ur doom!

  • It does look a bit fat but then again it has nice hardware and a full qwerty so I'll let it off the hook. UI looks gorgeous! and THANK GOD Nokia listened to the n97 users about the auto switching of hotspots!

  • one question: is there PDF reader?

  • yes

  • SOMEONE!! IS THE APPS FREE ??

  • mostly yes.

  • Pre-installed apps are all free, and the Ovi store does offer a ton free apps at the moment. There is a selection of apps that cost money though, usually about £2. Chances are you can find a free one that'll do the same job usually.

  • Thats a fat phone.

  • did you notice how he also slipped on at&t?

  • omg that thing looks huge. but its so sick :D

  • this is going to t-mobile

  • nerd magic, ftw.

  • FULL FLASH!!! NICE

  • Nerd magic?

  • yeah to fat lol also the keyboard looks close to like of the htc touch pro or the omnia pro one type.

  • that thing is a brick!
