  • whats the borax for?

  • @cheeseychickenman

it makes the paint spread out on the water

  • what base coat should be used?

  • is humbrol an enamel paint or an oil paint? which one is supposed to be used?

  • could someone tell me the precise version of this song? i tried looking for it on youtube but cant find this version plzzz

  • @moeesa

The sea..eventually done by a group called Beautiful People, album was called If 60s were 90s

  • great job...looks like something professionally done on a wall at guitar center...especially the head stock.

  • how do you take out the pickups and stuff without cutting wires.

  • @Aceman7614025 you dont. you will need to cut some wires but in my experience its just a couple on most guitars and an easy resauter job

  • @TheFallenDidntTry

don't sand the swirl! Just clearcoat

  • distilled water borax and neon air brush paint

  • nice man, just sanded my guitar and primes it white. Waiting for prime to dry, then i'm gonna dunk it. I'm using green, orange, and blue enamels.

  • Seems like my paint sticks to what I'm stirring with every time. I'm using the borax & keeping the Temp about 78 degrees. everything just clumps together. What am I doing wrong?

  • Do you know if you can use washing soda instead of borax as well?

  • this is probably a dum question but can you do acoustic guitars?

  • @drakenkorin404 yes but you would have to take the hole in and make it airtight and i wouldnt recommend risking the sound of a great acoustic anyways

  • HOw did you do the headstock. I'm dipping my strat and I thought it would be cool to do the head too. What did you do about the fretboard?

  • @guitarzanduke just tape up anything you don't want swirled with good quality masking tape like 3m. Its in the water for such a short time, theres no problem

  • How many layers of sealer did you put on first?

  • @virinsomnium No sealer, just 2 cans of white primer

  • wat base color?

  • @ralfcaetano always white as it makes the colours pop

  • After you finish all of the swirling, what do you do next?

  • @ThinkMeDead Give it a wipe down to get rid of any water spots - ONLY do this if you got the paint consistancy right & the paint is dry as soon as you pull it out of the water. If not leave overnight then you can clearcoat the next day. No sanding obviously, just clear ontop - have used car acrylic & 2k with no problems on the Humbrol or OneShot signwriters enamel paint

  • what did you put on the guitar to hold it?

  • @asf1187

just screw a bit of wood to the body as if it was the neck

  • i was kinda hopin his headphones would fall in the bucket :P

  • Hey that's freaking awesome! nice colors . At 1:50, are those little white dots made by air bubbles?

  • hey what can i use to retard the enamels. They seem to form a skin very quickly on the water surface messing the whole thing up?

  • Hi! good job, man!

What kind of primer did you use?

and what's the exact proportion of borax?

    thank you!

  • hey man, i noticed you also painted your neck and fretboard, does the paint make your neck less smooth or don't you feel any difference?

  • good job! its look amazing!

  • what kind of paint do u use to so this ?

  • hey man, good work!

can you tell how you clear coated the guitar after? or is this not necessary when using the humbrol enamel?

i'm looking forward for your answer ;)

  • what proportion of borax to water did you use?

  • helo men before you swirled your guitar has been sanded¿? or just frabic,s fiinish?

saorry for my english i m from chile greet

  • thats really cool man

  • did u use satin, matte, or gloss

  • @theMicrowaveStudios - some of each & some metalic, they all worked straight out of the pot

  • Never mind u already answered my ?

  • i believe this is the solvent-based paint, if thats what u used did u just put the paint right in the water or did you add a thinner first

  • Did you use the little 14ml bottles of Humbrol? If so, did it take the whole thing?

  • @fall101989 yes the smallest post & only used a tiny amount. Dipping a stick in & flicking the paint onto the surface about 8-10 times for each colour

  • @amrt555 ok cool, thanks. Yeah I tried it and I don't think I used enough paint because it didn't cover very much on the guitar. I'm going to get some more paint and try again.

  • HAHA of course i find a guitar off of project guitar on youtube. anyways it's lookin real good especially once it got clearcoated. love the lipstick pickups, extra classy

  • I wana do my Iceman....but Ill try on 1 or 2 older guitars i have around frist...Good job dude.

  • oh my god!!!!

  • Awesome, better than some of the other swirl tutorials I've seen. So you used humbrol for the swirl, but what did you use for the clear coats?

  • Does more borax mean better? :0

  • @t67111

No.. you just want enough so the paint spreads out evenly on the water

  • this is awesome on soo many levels man, how much borax did you use? and what brand of paint if you don't mind sharing ;)

  • @t67111

cheers, 400g of borax & as it says - Humbrol enamels
