  • Excellent video brother....I appriciate your work. This video is just awsome.

  • when they say that todays drivers are the best in history its a massive load of bullshit. the cars all have computers to keep them on the track and computers driving the car. the 60's 70's 80's were when the speed came from the nut behind the wheel. not from computers RIP all of the greatest drivers to ever of lived !!!!!!!!!!

  • i hate this song, it is so scary xD

  • If we could have cars like this with the safety we have today F1 would be perfect. Back in those days it wasn't the team with the most money that won, it was the team with the craziest idea (that worked!)!

  • cool video! but you discredit the drivers of the 80s! the cars were very fast and very deadly. My all time favourite is Gilles Villeneuve, he was the bravest among the bravest, the fastest man ever to drive a race car and great down to earth person. Nowdays you only see divas who are to scared to overtake or drive at the limit and give a shit about their fans.

  • BALLS OF STEEL! Thanks for the video. Great footage. My favorite F1 era was in the late 60's, just before they started putting wings on the cars.

  • At 1:23 that track marshal was like "OHHHHHH SHIT"

  • Excuse the language. But at 2:20 where he stops to help the other driver & tries to push the car over. For fucks sake. Fucking hero. What else can you say? Shit. These boys were the best. Lost for words.

  • @Spraycando Was Davis purley trying to help his teammate, Roger Williamson. Williamson died in this crash :(

  • i wouls shit briks at :30 what if the car hit me lol

  • i start watching f1 in mid 90s but i wish i was there at the races in 70s watching live coz they realy were the golden years of racing that will never be repeated with all this too much panicking about safety nowadays they killed that magic. they realy were men they use to get pay less they took more risk and they where passionate about wining not just making more money. RIP F1

  • Different is back then the likelihood drivers getting seriously hurt was far greater, thankfully these days with improve safety both track and the car itself, fatality in the sport is hopefully a thing of the past,

rip to those who have died.

  • I found stupidity talk this way.

One can say one is good without say other aren´t.

I mean. You can say "what men on that time" instead ofend all others on the future.

I dislike all coments like "the best, the only, he are not like, or others"

There is people who can´t say about schuamcher without say about senna..

This is just mind limitation... on the next 40 years there will be people like it saying schumi is good, not like this new kid bla bla bla..

  • @maxspes schumi won at least 3 titles on cheats.. nowhere near the real champs like fitipaldi or senna who risked their lives every races and played fair

  • 2:30 one of the bravest and most selfless things I've ever seen in my life.

  • 2:06 - Niki Lauda, a big man, almost died here.

  • tom pryce, niki lauda, mike hailwood, clay regazzoni, and ronnie peterson were some of the greats of the 1970's

  • Você tem razão!

Anos incríveis onde na F1 existia a magia.

    Corredores inesquecíveis com carros maravilhosos.

    Era preciso ter "braço"

    Parabéns pelo vídeo

  • Waooooooooo, niceeee

  • when man were man,in time of race heroes

  • Today F1 is a sport for ladies....

  • @GKOBE I'd say that's a little unfair, I'm pretty sure that the current cream of the crop would race in whatever you give them, safe or not, the sport as a whole is a victim of the times.

  • Strangely depressing. I think it's the combo of that music plus the repeated loss of life. I did love F1 back in the day though. Thanks for the post.

  • 0:30 the guy in yellow got a pair of nuts!

  • Beautiful vid. You're right, they were MEN.

  • To race back in the days you had to had BIG BALLS OF CARBOTANIUM!!

  • I love the Vid ..But Ghosss This Music is Every where..I fucking hate it..But Great Video

  • Yes the driver on 1.29 was Piers Courage and the accident was fatal.

We also saw Jochen Rindt that died in the1970 championship (he died in the "curva parabolica" of circuit of Monza) but he won the 1970 f1 championship (postmortem).

  • Raw Power

  • great ...

  • Two fatalities were shown :(

  • that driver was killed.rip.

  • who was the man who ran across the track to the burning car and the guy at the end running

  • @f16692 running to the burning car was david purley trying to rescue roger williamson. in vain though ..... very sad.

  • This was real racing and the drivers where every cent of their money worth. Now you can let monkeys drive and they are as quick as the overrated formula one babies of today.

  • Ahh, F1 before the front tires were nearly as large as the rears and you could actually shift gears.

  • at 1:15 i think it was a Gold Leaf Lotus 49C

    anyway great video mate!!!!

  • 14 disliked!!! Who is it??? Fantastic video and you are fantastic richiespeedisback. 1:15 WHO IS IT ???

  • @Storix100 Its Jochen Rindt.

  • let's reconstruct the old osterreich ring and the monza banking!!!

  • what music is this plz?

  • @poussyledzep requiem for a dream from the film of the same name..and if you watch the film you will hear the real power in the music

  • nice video.

good to see this old movies

what is this famous music? artist and title please?

    thank you

  • Juan Manuel Fangio , the best

  • The accident at 1:29 is Clay Reggazoni, and Mike Hailwood trying to get him out after pulling his cockpit extinguisher. Reggo was killed in a mini-van accident in Italy 2006 coming home from a car show, that's what I call tragedy......survive the most bloody years in F1, only to die in a stupid road accident. Revson, Donahue, Cevert, Williamson, Rindt, Villneve, Pryce.....these were all excellent drivers, men worthy of our admiration, and their contemporaries as well.

  • god bless the dead pilots

  • 3:29 lol you not put when Gilles go to do race with 3 wheels! nvm. But you not put the storic race of dijon when Gilles and Renè was fighting for 2nd position. R.I.P. to all drivers dead

  • GREAT VIDEO MATCH WITH MUSIC

  • Jeez watching today you don't realize how dangerous the sport used to be.

  • RIP Roger Williamson, a brave effort by David Purley to try and pull him out

  • nice vid

  • Yes this was when men were men, but sadley also a time were so many men lost their live due to poor safty.

  • 02:30 david purley ... greatest hero in F1 history

  • When men, were men... and women, were men too XD.

    Great video, greta pilots

  • fantastic video, well done

  • Can everyone see the car with the high airbox at 1:46? It looks strange!

  • @KillerDreck89 Think it's a Ligier, JS6 or something like it

  • That driver on 1:29 must be Piers Courage. RIP

  • @KillerDreck89

I do not know the exact name of driver, but I do know that fire incident was not fatal :)

  • Oh, then it is not Piers Courage.

  • @richiespeedisback yes I think this is not Piers, but piers´s car exploid I think

  • it is not pier courage for sure because is was not in a white car when he crashed

  • @richiespeedisback it is hailwood( the one jumping up and down for aure) and the other i belive is Regazzoni

  • @richiespeedisback im pretty sure that was wolfgang von trips. and he died..

  • @richiespeedisback That was Mike Hailwood trying to get Clay Regazzoni out of his car. Hailwood had to abandon the attempt as he was catching fire, but Regazzoni did not perish in the accident. Unfortunately a short time later, Roger Williamson would die in his fiery crash whilst David Purley tried in vain to rescue him.

  • @richiespeedisback

It was Mike Hailwood trying to get Clay Regazzoni out of his car in Kyalami'73. He was awarded some medal for bravery afterwards. Courage's accident was so horrible, nothing could be done - just a mess of fire and wreckage

  • @redupfox thx for the info, people that are able to just drive by are monsters and should be disqualified and fined for not trying to help.

  • @richiespeedisback

It was Clay Regazonni and Mike "The Bike" Hailwood. Hailwood tried to remove Clay, but Mike's hands caught on fire, then with the help of a marshall they both pulled Regazonni from the car (he was unconscious).

Hailwood talks about it in this great video titled Champions Forever

  • @richiespeedisback

It was Clay Regazzoni on fire saved by Mike Hailwood. Kyalami SA 1973.

  • @heuerautavia Also Mike received the George Medal for this act of saving Clay as after the marshal extinguished Mikes suit he ran back and carried on trying to pull Clay out. Top Bloke i'd say and bloody well done to him! RIP Mike

  • @tinyzukimonster970 It's incredibly sad that someone with so many races under their belt should die in an ordinary car crash off the track. :(

  • @richiespeedisback it was jacky Ickxx :)

  • @richiespeedisback: Mike Hailwood tries to help Clay Regazzoni

  • @KillerDreck89 it's clay regazzoni actually

  • @KillerDreck89 Hailwood helping Reggazzoni 1973 RSA GP not fatal as we know.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • @KillerDreck89

No, it actually was Jacky Ickx, on the Jarama circuit in Spain. Jackie Oliver (his former Le Mans co-driver) crashed into him because of failure of suspension. He was quickly (and alive) out of the car. Jacky Ickx didn't die but led severe burning wounds... 2 months later he was back in his car racing...

  • @KillerDreck89 the Guy is in the burning car is Jacky Icks i think... Invonted in accident too Jack Brabham and Guy Ligier.... i think Ligier or Chris Amon

  • Comment removed

  • @KillerDreck89

    @richiespeedisback

I think Jackie Icxs Jacky Stewart (or Arturo Merzario) and Jack Brabham.

  • @KillerDreck89 Not sure - it could be Mike Hailwood trying to pull Clay Reggazoni free from the blazing car during the 1973 South African GP.

  • @KillerDreck89 no it's jacky Ickxx

  • @KillerDreck89

1:23 Death of Jochen Rindt - Monza

  • @KillerDreck89 actually i think it's Clay Regazzoni

  • @TheZonda5002 no they should be Jacky Icks, Jacky Stewart and (Brabham or Hill?)

  • can any1 tell me what race and year is the accident at 2:20

    who were the drivers?

He really must ve had a lot of courage

  • that's the Roger Williamson fatal crash at the and the pilot who attempted to help him was David Purley

  • @shreyasf1

Thats David Purley trying to save his friend Roger Williamson on the 1973 Holland GP. RIP

  • Niki Lauda at the Nurburgring, u can google the date. He suffered very heavy burns on that day and almost died. But came back for a F1 championship.

  • And he lost all hair.

  • @jhiguyfj

thanks. for a young guy you did well your research.

  • cool vid... true mens... he stopped the car to help an other driver...nice thing

  • At 4:00, was that at Suzuka?

  • It's Zandvoort

  • it's Zandvoort in Holand

  • I and my brother followed Roger Williamson through Formula Three and was over joyed when he got his chance at formula One, Iwas late home the day Roger died and only learnt about it on the TV. Needless to say we were Heart broken about it and I still am after all these years!! He was a Fine and Talented Young Man.

  • 1:04 where and when?

  • @Austria4ever1000

That was in Silverstone where at the end of 1° lap Jody Schecter lost control.

    Don't remembre the year.

  • a tunnel? where?

  • Who is the pilot taking fire in the middle of this video?

  • @Luloma THE BRITON ROGER WILLIAMSON IN ZANDVOORT 75...AND THE ONE HELPING IS DAVID PURLEY ANOTHER BRITON...

  • @Luloma

do you mean at 2:22 ?

  • No! that one at 1:38....

  • @Luloma

The circuit is Kyalami in South Africa.

    The year i don't know.

If i remembre right the driver who tries to help and got his hands and feet on fire is Rolf Stommelen. The other driver i don't know.

But there is a video on youtube that tells the whole story. If i can find it back, i'll let you know.

  • that was clay regazzoni on BRM and the driver trying to help him was the former motorcycle champion, Mike Hailwood. R.I.P. both

probably at kyalami, if not jarama...

  • The old Spa-Francorchamps circuit was faboulous. You needed big balls!!!!

  • @digoclocks THESE MEN WEREN T MEN...THEY WERE GIANTS....

  • great great video...very well done and tastefully constructed..if i had one criticism it would be the complete lack of gilles villeneuve.... but we cant have it all our own way.... excellent work!

  • @paulboggan

    gilles villeneuve at 3:29

but ur right would be good to see more of him.

    great video.

  • apologies...my mistake! i take it back..the film is now perfect!

  • They weren't simple men, they were heroes. And it is really sad that some of them had died. But anyway fantastic video. Thanks.

  • Niki Lauda in Nurburgring 1976! ;-)

  • i have nothing but praise for these men. true warriors

  • His helmet was torn off by the initial impact, it's just an odd configuration of the flames combined with the quality of the recording you're seeing, I think.

  • Absolutely one of the greatest videos i have seen five stars

  • Yeah I think that's Spa, but by the '70's it was close to the same layout as used today.

I really want to know what circuit is shown at 0:40. The one with the huge hump in it showing the cars coming downhill and into a left hand corner. Amazing shots!

  • i dont know..it looks like pilgrims drop at brands hatch after a very severe hot summer drought!

  • @mrxr8ute

I'm not sure that's Spa. It could be a part of the old Nurnburgring or maybe Clermont Ferrand.

  • Nice vid =)

  • Thans for the video... Very Good.

  • he wasn't rejected, he was in the cockpit all the time. Guy Edwards, Arturo Merzario and Harald Ertl had stopped just after his collision and pulled him out of the burning car.

  • Niki Lauda is his name, '76 Grand Prix at Nürburgring in Germany. luckily he is still alive but retired from Grand Prix in 1985. he nearly lost his life and remained with a huge scar on his face. one of the greatest F1 drivers of the old school, in my opinion.

  • Great work for putting this video together :) I'm pleased that the sport has change in terms of safety. However, It is hard for the drivers to overtake on most tracks.

  • A great tribute to men who whom raced with the understanding of danger and death. Wonderful Thank You!!

  • 4:43 where is that is it the old spa?

  • Yes, and when the umpire wanted to set his friend free did not allow it him, saying that it's too dangerous. Purley spoke to the spectators in order for them to help him to excuse itself. They detained the spectators. Purley dragged out the umpire onto the racecourse and drove one for him. the pilot's carbonised residue was taken out after the accident, from the race car. RIP

  • the driver who is burning 2:30 is Roger Williamson who sadly died at the scene. The driver running to save him is Purley

  • Man, what a video.....who was that pilot at 2:30? what an unbeleivable moment, dramatic, did the pilot die? who was?, what circuit?

  • Comment removed

  • No it's not, Ronnie died on monza just after the start.

  • exelente video, me pone la piel de gallina

  • Bellissimo video!!!!

  • They had guts back then, they knew the dangers but did it. Their the bravest in motor sports.

  • Formula1-When Men were Gods

    that suits better...no?

    Very nice video though

  • grandi uomini per grandi emozioni, loro sono la nostra storia. uomini che purtroppo ai giorni nostri non esistono più..

  • greater safety is good but the sport has had safety overload

  • Man, this footage gives me the goosebumps. Thanks though, the music fits perfectly and transmits a very impressive atmosphere.

  • Drivers of today are extremely brave and if you don't think they take risks then tell that to Henry Surtees and Felipe Massa. F1 was, is and always willl be dangerous. It's the nature of the beast.

The drivers from the 70's campaigned for greater safety so they will be glad that todays drivers face less of a risk.

The people who are saying it was all better back in the 70's are grandad's wishing they could be 16 again, looking at things through rose tinted glasses.

  • FINALLY!!!!!!!! OH GREAT ONE YOU SAID IT!!!!!!!!!! thank you for stating what i have tried for so long... f1 is still a sport of men, thank you thank you thank you...

my point is that as human beings we have no reason on paper why anybody should be better than another appart from experience... james hunt's words, not mine ;)

drivers can only drive the cars that their eras provided them, humans haven't gotten worse at driving in the last 20 years, they're just as good, no better, no worse..

  • for sure, senna, prost and stewart etc. were better than massa and button... but that's only an individual variation in talent not representative of the average driver from then to now. so far as i can tell, there was a guy called michael schumacher who is easily in the top 3 of all time, so modern drivers can be as good as ever...

the idea that some morons say that drivers 20-30 years ago were inherently better is bullshit, humans haven't changed in that time, they're just as good as ever...

  • a very good video with the right title

  • That's real racing, real excitement, thanks for putting the clips together

  • A real exhibition of the bravery and courage of 1970s formula one drivers. Top notch video!

  • no comment!!!!

  • Amazing video! Can you please tell me the title of this soundtrack?

  • Comment removed

  • one of the best videos about rece cars in youtube

i cant remember at 03:24 if is Reutemann....

Thanks for this kind of videos !!!!

  • That was Alan Jones. Carlos had the number 28 in 1980.

  • at nowdays there's F1 drivers. back then there were heroes!

  • When Ecclestoner kicks the bucket..hopefully soon, maybe somebody will take this piece of shit over and the racing will start again.

  • That huge cunt Ecclestone caved in just like the NHRA and NASCAR. Just a bunch of fucking clones. No originality. Way too many rules. Make them shift with their right hand, no ABS, no trac control, nothing. Take the barriers away too. If you want to be a race car driver, you must accept the risk.

  • Well said!

  • OMFG! your ignorance amazes me! TC, ABS and stability control systems have been banned for the last three seasons... have you been hibernating or something, "duh, what year is it?"

and why would you want to take barriers and run off areas away? so you want to see more fatalities, mmm?

have a look at massa's and surtees's accidents, there are still accepted hazzards in racing, just less of them...

why do you have to have a death wish to be a race car driver?

  • Traction control, Stability controls, ABS, and so on, have definately been OVERUSED. Bring back turbo's and slicks I say, to hell with rules, lets race dammit!

    GREAT VIDEO

  • are you stupid or something?

slicks are back and all the electronic driver aids have been banned...

if we had turbochargers today, the cars would be throwing out about 2000hp for god's sake! be realistic...

for some people - like you - no matter how they try to improve the sport it just isn't good enough is it?

in 20 years time, you'll be saying how much you missed the 2000s, all it is is nostalgia at it's worst...

  • Wouldn't it be better if we return to F1 cars in 70's style? THAT are cars. Not this bullshit today, refilling gas has been prohibited recently. But 2000hp, that would be amazing, OMG!

  • see you're just being pessimistic...

there wasn't any refuelling in the 70s, no f1 has ever output anything close to 2000hp - in the 70s it was around 500hp, electronic driver aids are gone - like in the 70s... what more do you want?

  • What do I want? I just want Bernie to return to mechanical cars. And I want all electronic stuff to vanish. But was refuelling really forbidden in the 70's? How then could the drivers finish well?

By the way, you're right, I'm pessimistic.

But I never said that there was a car that reached 2000 hp, I just said it would be amazing to see such car.

  • how many times have i said it?!?! electronic driver aids are completely gone!

the cars have identical ECU systems, there are fewer electronics assisting the drivers now than in the late 1980s!

clearly you need to brush up on your history, refuelling only made a brief return 1983 then it was baned during the peak of the turbo era, so finishing the race was no problem...

  • Oh, then thanks for the information.

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva The BMW M12/13 turbo engine was rumored to boe close to 1500 hp in qualification trim

  • the formula sport is destroyed...we all know but onebody has the balls to say that in front of the public

  • true.. only thing good nowadays is the saftey stuff they have in the cars.. but the rest.. epeciallly the tracks.. c r a p

  • ...not Drivers...just HEROES!!!

  • amazing vid, well done

  • Love it. Especially the shot at 4.57 yeah!

Marlboro in contrast to the Ferrari.

  • Great video the music works well.

RIP to all drivers who died doing what they loved.

  • All race drives in this era was a heroes... RIP all brave heroes who lost his life in this era...

  • agreed, F1 now is a piece of PS3 crap.

Turbo age ruled, abs is for blondes, traction control is for noobs. Let the best/fastest/craziest win. Not just the top high budget teams.

  • Man, I will make a quote out of your comment. What you said is just he plain truth!

  • also back then they didnt have very many safty precautions we have now so the fuel tank could be punctured easily and the car would be up in flames. luckily they kept driving so the racing we know today could exist. RIP all dead.

  • at 2:20 he got out of his car and ran across the track to help his friend and teammate out of the fire. he didnt survive but you wouldnt see that in racing today. but i think the guy trying t help died like a month or so after.

  • Not a temmate, they were rivals but great friends off the track. The one who tried to help was him, and seeing his own friend been burned alive and screaming for help, just horrible. The guy who helped I think died from a plane crash same year.

  • yea thts rite

  • ....these MEN on the video are fuckin heroes, just to fit they balls into the cockpit it's a start to sayin that. When men were men, it's a perfect title.

  • video's good, the title is unfair... if these drivers knew what driving a modern car was like, they wouldn't have raced... these "men" only drove these things because it was the best that they knew, if it was the same today, the drivers would still race. when race a kart, i know there are no seat belts, open wheels, no run off, topping out at 103mph, going off or touching wheels runs the risk of rolling while completely exposed but i still do it, 'cause i love it, racing today is still racing...

  • Today is not racing (in F1) it's just number versus numbers and the drivers are not the main factor to make a car to win, they just take the car from the start line to finish line. Look at jeson button, crapy results from all his life, just give him a LITTLE better car and he's winning every race. It's not like 20 years ago when prost and senna were on the top with a car making 60hp less than any other. That was racing.

  • oh c'mon nowadays you're lucky if you get 2 seconds difference from first to last place in qualifying it's so competitive. in the 80s you could predict a 1-2 finish before the race and the only variable that jumbled up the results was mechanical failures. the thing about button is unfair, look at fittipaldi or piquet when they moved to a shit team, no if not only lucky wins and button was in uncompetitive cars during schumacher's dominance, what kind of results did you expect???
