  • One of the best grammy performances ever.

  • Dylan wasn't there because his voice is still great, he's there because without him, none of the others would be there.

  • Avett Brothers may have some better written songs but Mumford and Sons just can make any song their because of how much emotion they put into their music and Marcus Mumfords voice is amazing.

  • the music is great, the sound and tape job sucks, straight off the tv

  • even though his voice has gone to hell, bob dylan is still THE folk singer. always great to see musicians performing alongside their hero. its incredible to see the kind of influence that dylan still has, all these years past his prime. a joy to watch how elated these two new bands are to be sharing the stage with a legend ( 7:38 ) my jealousy cannot be put into words

  • I've been a Bob Dylan fan for all my life and a Mumford and Sons fan for two and a half years. Then this happened. I very nearly died from all the perfection in this video. And then I became an Avett Brothers fan, too ;) Life's been good to me!

  • omg eargasm

  • I want to buy Bob Dylan Ice cream.

  • you can see all the musicians are thrilled to play with dylan.

this is like the best of 2 generations of folk music on the same stage, so brautiful.

  • First time in a long time I watched the grammys and i'm glad I did. Finally some good music.

  • Mumford and sons play beautifully but they don't begin to compare to the Avett brothers. Most all of Mumford and sons's songs have the same banjo while the Avetts can play their instruments better and with more diversity.

  • @handelah lol dude not really but what ever, i like both bands

  • first time i saw/heard of mumford and sons and there's no going back for me

god damn they're great! dylan is great! THE WORLD IS GREAT

  • holly shit i can't believe i missed this live, this is like my dream concert i would die to have been there for that

  • I agree that Dylan's voice is not as it was in the 60's/70's/80's/90's - every decade it has changed which is great. His his voice has changed to what now sounds like the "old blues performers" He's not as consistant with every song, but he can still deliver a wonderful performance, if you really listen to the phrasing etc !!!

  • Mumford & Sons was by far my favorite performance!!! So intense!

  • Dylan sounds a bit like Tom Waits here xD

  • Bob Dylan's voice now makes me want to clear my throat. It's kind of a shame. He's still the best songwriter I've ever read though.

  • I love it when he lifts his double bass off the ground and the whole band is grinning SO MUCH. M&S forever <3

  • @tritan74 up your ass

  • All of this is amazing. You could see how happy the guys were backing up Dylan. Any thoughts of a tour with these guys and Dylan? Dylan/Mumford? Wow!

  • nebnaqrenol, what you said is brilliant, we should stay with the artists as they age, suffer from addictions, or smoke. If they can hang on, we should respect that and always love them.

I'm definately with Dylan and Mumford now. Glad they are young.

  • 9 people don't like music...they tend to listen to crap like taylor swift and justin beiber..

  • oh my gosh...its not mirrored ;)

  • never seen avett bro's so clean cut

  • Anyone who says Dylan sucks doesn't know anything. His voice isn't the same, but who cares. All three are amazing! But Dylan's untouchable. At some point, based on history, present a future, a person is beyond criticism. His voice isn't as good? Oh...who gives a f$&%.

  • Bob dylan sucks! but mumford and sons and Avett Brothers are awesome!

  • @whatisajake You suck!

  • Wow, what a powerful moment. To see Dylan crooning along with such a rich bed of talent in the Mumford Sons and Avett brothers truly was special. I loved how Dylan found himself gliding to the rhythm and sound and being totally immersed in the moment ... I haven't seen this level of energy in him for some time now. He awkwardly pulled himself in check as the tune raps up in his own little eccentric way ... great to have this on tape!

  • I loved the moment after M&Sons played and the Avett Brothers started... It was like watching that scene from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World where his band is backstage waiting to go on and their lead singer is freaking out... "HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW THIS!!?!?"

  • @BoogityWhup

mumford and sons wouldnt be here if it wasnt for the avett brothers, respect

  • Of all performances to miss that night it had to be this! Had to turn off that other no-talent performer I did catch!!

  • This is perfection bottled up in a video.

  • The Avett Brothers were like sh*t how are we going to top Mumford and Sons performance!

  • @my360isbetter Then they did. :)

  • @GreatestSoloEver Um? Not really!

  • @my360isbetter The Avett Brothers are alot better than mumford and sons.

  • @batonrouge90210 Avett Brothers are amazing...if M&S stick with their roots and dont go mainstream which i pray they dont we will have two great bands...

  • staying awake to youtube and found this video and enjoying

  • No way, real music at the Grammys, yes!!!!

  • i hope that the Gaga and Rihanna and all the other "big names" have thought after these acts: shit these boys make real music....but what do we?

  • @Hautamekki lady gaga rocks the piano... shes a musician she just hides behind the modern synths and stuff...

  • @elpooblo188 true, Gaga live is AMAZING

  • Mumford and Sons para mim foi a melhor actuação, eles levam tudo para palco são sem dúvida alguma brilhantes.

  • Bob Dylan's voice may be shot, but he still kicks alot of the modern singers asses.

Very few people nowadays could write a song like he can.

  • does anyone the name of the The Avett Brothers' song???

  • @livmia051554 It's "Head full of Doubt."

  • @ScrapperSays Thanks :)

  • its bob fucking dylan...............

  • Mumford and Sons are so happy when they play.... :').... that's a man tear, goddammit

  • my favorite part is when he turned it UP ;)

  • What is the avett brother's song called

  • @HandsomeDan777 Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise

  • This is what I call music. Words you can understand and none of the new lady gaga stuff

  • Bob dylan will sing till his voice is gone

he'll play guitar and piano till his fingers are gone

he'll write poetry till his mind is gone

he'll be an artist till his life is gone and he's lowered in his grave.

  • @nebnagrenol and he shall never truely die...

  • @nebnagrenol Amen

  • @nebnagrenol he'll be remembered till humanity is gone.

  • Although I'm a Mumford and Sons fan, The Avett Brothers are in my opinion much much better. Amazing writers and singers, not to take anything from mumford, the avetts are just easier to connect with.

  • @18pauljr hmm, I don't know either band very well, but in my opinion, Mumford's performance just felt more passionate and I liked it more, but thats just my opinion

  • @kittymagic711 You should look up some more Avett Bros. songs live. I went to a concert of theirs and they played with a lot of passion too. This song is kind of more reserved but a lot of their other songs they're playing their hearts out.

  • keyboarist is on it!!!!dude is fucking the keyboard

  • Boob Dylan's voice is gone, but he changed music and is still a hell of a song writer. He is in my top 5 off all time.

  • Best. Performance. Of. The. Night. Grammies takin' over by a bunch of hillbillies :')

  • folk rock ftw

  • Keyboardist can jam. Seriously.

  • Yea my bad I meant to say the lead singer for the wall flowers is bob dylans son

  • "And now, razorblades at the ready, The Avett Brothers"

  • @SL04 You mean Seth?

  • it was hard for the second two acts to follow the mumfords.

  • WTMF was that last thing? sometimes..just sometimes mash-ups don't work out. Now don't chew my face off. Respectively these three marvels peel my eyelids back and cause my ears to bleed rainbows...but together. Oh dear gawd no.

  • Seeing Scott dance is the highlight of this video for me.

  • Looks like J-Lo was a little bit pissed at the end of the video that she wasn't up there with all those guys. :)

  • They all look jumping beans Haha.

  • omg.... that caos.... great dylan... ily

  • @MrHansonGreen you realize that he is in his 70's and he smokes.... so i say fuck off to you

  • gotta love dylan

  • ive never seen that many stand up basses in a rock concert lol

  • My cousins married to seth avett

  • @3damnthis the avett brothers are amazing. Out of all the concerts I've been to including bonnaroo. They blew all others away granted it was on Halloween eve and The band were all mummified. But it was unbelievable. They have a surprisingly high intensity show. Like a punk rock feel somehow. And they are great singers better then this shows

  • @mrhansongreen more like dead lol

  • Bob Dylan sounds like death

  • @awalker2012 I don't want to admit it

  • @awalker2012 shuddduupp, I don't want to admit it!

  • @awalker2012 you're a moron

  • oh my god! I love Bob Dylan! Amazing to live in a generation that sees both Bob Dylan and purely original bands like Mumford and Sons. This is the first time I am listening to the Avett Brothers and they are amazing too!! I am so happy!!

  • The lead singer for Mumford and sons is bob dylans son

  • @TheRedbull101 haha, nope

  • @TheRedbull101 its pretty certain that marcus mumford is NOT bob dylan's son.

  • @TheRedbull101 no his name is Marcus Mumford. No relation. Lol.

  • I love how when the Avett Brothers rock out, they jump around, and when Mumford & Sons rock out, they hunch down XD

  • I'm so thankful for these bands because they all promote liberty. RON PAUL! Kevin Trudeau! William Wallace!

  • To quote the movie "Paul"

Paul: “This is pretty strong shit. I got it from the military actually. This is the stuff that killed Dylan.”

Graeme Willy: “Bob Dylan’s not dead.”

    Paul: “Isn’t he?”

  • i didnt realize tim tebow was in a folk band too haha

  • Raw. Fucking. Talent. At it's finest.

  • Very glad I watched this. Had never heard of Mumford & Sons or The Avett Brothers, will definitely go listen to more from both. Bob's still a legend, this vocal performance is far from stellar, but still drips character and is totally listenable.

  • These sort of performances give me faith in music today. :)

  • aww I love "I ain't gonna work for maggie's farm no more!'

  • I love this...

  • Jeff Beck at the end is like "HELL YEAH!"

  • Bob Dylan is old and his voice is gone but at the same time he still has it

  • I'm speechless.

  • EPIC!

  • I hate Jennifer Lopez's smug ass look at the end of this video. Like she knows music? What a jackass.

  • For me, the best performance of the night. It was first time I saw Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brothers. I went out and bought their CD's . But what I loved the most was the pure joy on their faces backing up Bob Dylan.

  • dylan sounds like he's swallowed a hedgehog.

    but i still love him.

    BRILLIANT :)

  • avett shouldve performed colorshow, seeing how the crowd was already amped. But a great performance.

  • awsome performance from these guys. the avett's stood out tho, maybe they'll get the recognition they've deserved for so many years.

  • Notice how there are no dislikes to this. And they say folk music is old and outdated

  • I and Love and You? (Avett Brothers Song). I have to listen again. I haven't seen this video in weeks. I'll get back to you guys on this.

No never mind. "Head full of doubt, road full of promise" is the name of the song

  • I and Love and You? (Avett Brothers Song). I have to listen again. I haven't seen this video in weeks. I'll get back to you guys on this.

  • what song is it that the Avett brothers sing?

  • @nbonko49 The song is Head Full Of Doubt/Road Full Of Promise

  • @singer43211 head full of doubt, road full of promise

  • what song is the avett brothers singing?

  • could've been worse, he could have done a 'Fidel Castro' over that poorly placed double bass!

  • Nice to see those talented new bands and nice to see how happy they are to play with the master

  • Dylan is and always will be the King!

  • hahaha holy shit, you pathetic little game nerd. what the hell are you doing on this video any way? read your comment dude, you're real fucking mature. "plz dont message.....fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!" haha wow, what an illiterate, tasteless, dumbass you are! oh and by the way, i am in no way "queer" or a "fag" for talking to you considering i'm a girl. so fuck off and go listen to that alien ant farm and b.o.b shit you love so much.

  • @DaChicagoBear Silly, silly little boy. Your ignorance is astonishing. I'm literally laughing at your comments. Grow up bud.

  • @hollaback61694 That's a bit harsh don't you think ?

  • @gelwing No, you should have seen the comments he said. All his got removed haha.

  • Dylan would have been even greater if he would have stayed off Heroin and other drugs ..he is a full blown H addict today .. as a entertainer some think he's fantastic other not so .. I think he did a great job at the Grammy's ..Maggies Farm..

  • Its Dylan with all his children around him. Love this!

  • Dylan can't sing?

its always amazin to watch people prove their own stupidity when they bash Dylan.

truly funny. so many stupid people have no idea how stupid they are.

    how amusing.

  • ppl r mad if they think dylan cudn't perform!! watch dylan at newport fol festival he was amazing in the 60's!! i admit as th years hav went on he has lost his voice probly thru smokin but fuck it hes a fuckin legend!!

  • @DaChicagoBear shut th fuck up u fuckin little idiot!!

  • God I thought Dylan couldnt sing before... Best version of that song will always be the Rage Against the Machine version

  • @ACDC392333 too bad that version, or any version, wouldn't exist if it wasn't for dylan.

  • @hollaback61694 Oh wow really u mean if the song hadnt been written then it wouldn't exist? WHOA lol. Dude Dylan is a fantastic writer, shitty performer. The only Dylan original I can think of that is better than any covers is Tangled Up In Blue

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear haha how the hell is it bullshit? if dylan didn't write the song and sing it first, no one else would have been able to cover it...

  • Comment removed

  • thats professionally stupid bro

  • @DaChicagoBear ahaha you are so ignorant. just because it isn't a part of the shit selection of music you've heard, doesn't mean it isn't famous. actually its very famous dumbass.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear you really have a trauma with queers and faggots O.O someone rapes you or what??

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear If you don't like the song, don't fucking listen.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear Okay, as a general rule I don't usually get involved in youtube debates because I find them a complete fucking waste of time. But you sir, are so incredibly ignorant and ridiculous that someone needs to fucking tell your stupid ass off. First, I would like to start by simply saying, learn to spell, or don't learn to spell, but bust out spell check every once in a while. It's hard, actually, it's pretty much impossible to take anything you say seriously when you spell like you do.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear Second, if you think that the only good music is the music that fucking Rolling Stone says is good you are a fucking idiot. Rolling Stone has had The Jonas Brothers & Snooki from The Jersey Shore on the cover of their sad excuse for a magazine in the last 3 years. They have NO integrity as a publication and the writing is crap. It's pretty clear that the only music you like is the shit that Rolling Stone, VH1 & fucking MTV have spoon fed you. You have no idea what real music is.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear dude, you're sick, or maybe you're just a kid who likes to fucking around

  • @DaChicagoBear So excuse me if I have trouble taking anything you say seriously. It's hard to find you an authority on anything when you spell like a fucking fourth grader and have grammar to match. Oh, actually, my ten year old sister can spell better than you and create sentences with better structure, so...I guess the fourth grade comparison is a little unfair to her. You are an idiot, go crawl back into your hole and leave the rest of us alone.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear What kind of crazy douche tells a complete stranger to go fuck their 10 year old sister? You need to get a life. Seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaChicagoBear Oh, also, 14? Really? You're 14 & you're going around telling people on the internet to go fuck themselves & telling people that they're cunts & faggots? I bet your parents are so proud.

  • @apothecaryofsound u no what, fuck u!

  • @DaChicagoBear I wasn't aware that by saying "I'm 14 bitch" could be used as an excuse for being ignorant. You probably wear Tapout and Affliction shirts and walk around the middle school like a tough guy, huh?

  • @Gernads sure whatever u say

  • @hollaback61694 Yeah pretty sure Mumford and Sons are the hottest bands out there right now!

  • @ACDC392333 Who cares? His comfortable with his voice and at least he doesn't cheat by using auto-tune. Also you can't tell me that you don't like his sound from his early stuff like Shelter from the Storm or When the Ship Comes In.

  • @johnhamilton08 When the Ship Comes In was covered by Navar and it was better than his. And Im honestly not familiar with Shelter From the Storm off the top of my head but Ill check it out
