Hi guys, i had a question.. I never played any of the other Sieges so idk, but im such a huge fan of Boulders Gate and Champions of Norrath and this looks very similar. Me and my brother always play co-op on those games and iv heard rumors that on this that their making co-op wierd.. like 2nd player doesnt gain anything (armor, levels, experience, money) is that true?
@kittahcat The PC version was called Baldurs Gate the console version was called Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance. They were not even versions of the same game they were widely different. The console game was a base hak and slash while the PC game was a strategic RPG with tons of content a story and deep gameplay. It was by far Bioware's best game.

@OddeyeDL That's only for the split-screen co-op. Online multiplayer works like the usual, except that you need to create a seperate character instead of using your singleplayer character.

If you liked the Champions of Norrath 1&2 and Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1&2 then you might enjoy Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom and Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on PS3 since it is in the same vein!

I don't know why people are complaining, I loved Dungeon Siege as well... obviously for the sake of playing while introducing and showing things it's on a very low difficulty and probably real early in. Once you turn the difficulty up and meet different companions this looks like the natural progression from the early DS games.
If it was just Square-Enix, i'd have no faith... but Obsidian is perfect for Dungeon Siege. Doubt this will be their first bad game.

Which sort of represents Obsidian well, a good game that was really unpolished on release day. Once they fix things in post-release patches, that fact usually isn't disputed. They need to work on releasing fully fixed games on release day is all.

New Vegas and Mask of the Betrayer are artistically Blackisles style games. New Vegas is a perfect example. Its typical JE Sawyer/ Chris Avellone. Story, Dialog, Roleplaying, and challenge with broken quest. FO 3 is the odd puppy of the bunch. I

Obsidian itself has a big enough catalog to where you know pretty much what you're gonna get and what you're gonna get is exactly what I said and what you just said.
You can't create your own character? And all those fancy fighting moves makes combat look too easy. I don't care if bland old slashing looks boring, least the monsters can get a hit in. Too much damn ninja-ishness.
They're copying the broken power system from DS2 that totally ruined the combat in it. And enemies attack too slowly again. Another mistake that messed up DS2.
I think DS3 is going to have just as short of a lifespan as DS2 did. DS2 discouraged modders that killed it even faster

I liked Ds1, I loved Ds2. Graphics look great dont get me wrong. But Gameplay is just, not original at all to me: It looks like another Titan Quest type of game with the same physics system and monster death animations. Though I think its a good addition for Console players, it wont add any value to my Pc game collection.
Guess thats the end of it for me, feel a bit dissapointed. Diablo 3 my love, I'll wait for ya.

Same-screen multiplayer? I'm sold. I've been DYING for a cool fantasy-based hacknslash RPG for my PS3. I missed the days of Champions of Norrath or Baldur's Gate on my PS2. My brother and friends still play Champions 2 to this DAY. Mucho happy that the PS3 is FINALLY getting a gauntlet-like rpg.
@Draeka You sound like you like this genre, as do I. You have probably already heard of it but in case you haven't look up sacred 2: fallen angel. Its a hack and slash dungeon crawler with a giant ass world, not just dungeons as stupid as that sounds. I'll probably still get this but i really doubt it can even compare to sacred 2.
@Draeka Dungeon Hunter Alliance is also a new PS3 game with samescreen coop, it's a very good dungeonrawler, u should check it out. It's in the store now, released like 1 week ago.
I played DS1 + Addon for like ages. DS2 was good too, but whats that? A 0815-bright-colour mainstream game. DMG popping up, jumping around, cheap atmosphere.

This game is going to be something for the easily pleased to mess with and throw on the burn pile when they're finished with it. DS1's decently sized modding community(which is dead mostly) helps the first last you years and years.

I feel the same about kirby for example with its new game, kirby doesnt suck its enemies anymore, and i loved that, but i still want to play the game.
New different kirby its better than no kirby at all, So try to think that a new dungeon siege with new gameplay its better that no game at all. The change is there for a reason for sure.

Honestly, there was no way the old game style could keep going, it was a failure, no action basicaly...
With this new combat style where u can actually chose what to do with your weapons i think the game will be much more fun.
Its just pointless to keep moaning cause they have fixed a total failure.

@Tryphikik It doesn’t take much to see how Obsidian has changed and how they have remained the same. They have top notch roleplaying, and dialog while they have bugs and technical growing pains. New Vegas and Mask of the Betrayer are artistically Blackisles style games. New Vegas is a perfect example. Its typical JE Sawyer/ Chris Avellone. Story, Dialog, Roleplaying, and challenge with broken quest. FO 3 is the odd puppy of the bunch. I

@freakyfatdog I don't understand if you're trying to disagree with me or what, but that was my point to begin with, you know what to expect from Obsidian, it doesn't matter if you look at Black Isle or not (I stand by my original statement, I knew everything you said to begin with, but I still don't view them as the same entity). Obsidian itself has a big enough catalog to where you know pretty much what you're gonna get and what you're gonna get is exactly what I said and what you just said.

DS 1 is one of my fav games all time... now it looks pretty dumb but if u played it when it first came out, it was a blast.

You can't create your own character? And all those fancy fighting moves makes combat look too easy. I don't care if bland old slashing looks boring, least the monsters can get a hit in. Too much damn ninja-ishness.
They're copying the broken power system from DS2 that totally ruined the combat in it. And enemies attack too slowly again. Another mistake that messed up DS2.
I think DS3 is going to have just as short of a lifespan as DS2 did. DS2 discouraged modders that killed it even faster

I liked Ds1, I loved Ds2. Graphics look great dont get me wrong. But Gameplay is just, not original at all to me: It looks like another Titan Quest type of game with the same physics system and monster death animations. Though I think its a good addition for Console players, it wont add any value to my Pc game collection.
Guess thats the end of it for me, feel a bit dissapointed. Diablo 3 my love, I'll wait for ya.

Same-screen multiplayer? I'm sold. I've been DYING for a cool fantasy-based hacknslash RPG for my PS3. I missed the days of Champions of Norrath or Baldur's Gate on my PS2. My brother and friends still play Champions 2 to this DAY. Mucho happy that the PS3 is FINALLY getting a gauntlet-like rpg.

Its a hack and slash dungeon crawler with a giant ass world, not just dungeons as stupid as that sounds. I'll probably still get this but i really doubt it can even compare to sacred 2.

I played DS1 + Addon for like ages. DS2 was good too, but whats that? A 0815-bright-colour mainstream game. DMG popping up, jumping around, cheap atmosphere.

@Ultimartifact Well that's what happens when you let another company get their hands on something so they can butcher it beyond recognition.
This game is going to be something for the easily pleased to mess with and throw on the burn pile when they're finished with it. DS1's decently sized modding community(which is dead mostly) helps the first last you years and years.
Also, anyone getting the same feeling like when they saw the stupid Dungeon Siege movie after seeing this?

Well they called Dungeon Siege 2 terrible when it came out and now they do the same with Dungeon Siege 3. They changed it a lot, and maybe DS 2 was better, but we won't see till we have played both.

Instead of whining about how its nothing like its previous incarnations how about waiting until the game comes out to see if its any fun at all.

It's just a bit disheartening to see a game that doesn't remind me of what I enjoyed playing all those years ago.

@Leylantos and i can completely understand that, much of the excitement of a new game comes from the nostalgia of your fond memories playing previous versions.
I feel the same about kirby for example with its new game, kirby doesnt suck its enemies anymore, and i loved that, but i still want to play the game.
New different kirby its better than no kirby at all, So try to think that a new dungeon siege with new gameplay its better that no game at all. The change is there for a reason for sure.

@babayaga20000 How could they call it something else if the story is base on the previous games, locations, and so on. If characters are desendants and what not its logic the game recieves that name.. its a sequel, that doesnt mean it has to be the same type of gameplay.
Like Dragon age 2 gameplay its nothing alike ( or so they say ) they are just trying something new to see if its works to atract n ew fans.
