Bridgette Nielsen(sp?) was far more attractive in her youth than Rose McGowen is today.

Regardless, Rose McGowen is a great choice to follow the legacy left by the original Red Sonja, I am very pleased with her being cast as the lead.

I'll definitely be one of the people who goes to watch it during the premiere weekend.

I think it is unfortunate that they picked Rose McGowan. Her physique isnt believable in a physically demanding role. Out of fulltime actresses, Jessica Biel or Rhona Mitra are ideal. They have a perfect balance of muscularity to make them believable in tough action sequences, and yet enough soft curves to make a man's jaw drop. From fitness models it would be between Timea Majorova, Valerie Waugaman, or Torrie Wilson. Those three, in my opinion, represent the epitome of strength and beauty.

Yeah, Milla Jovovich was pretty convincing in those movies, but she has a tomboyish quality about her that I don't think McGowan has. As far as Aeon Flux, I have to admit that I didn't watch many of the episodes, but I did remember the character being better built than Charlize. She didn't look close to the main character, not to mention the action sequences suffered tremendously because she wasn't equipped to do the demanding stunts. I have seen gymnasts and she is far from that type.

Funny thing is if you watch the special features for this movie you will see that she did do about 95% of the stunts herself. She was almost better then the stunt doubles thanks to her dance and modeling background which gave her a better body awareness. For this movie she was trained in gymnastics, Capoiera, Krav Maga, (Which is the style of martial arts that I do), Judo and other stunt work. Besides you have to admit her hair was cool :o)

Red Sonia is a cowgirl in Robert Howard's short stories. I found Brigit Nielsen awesome in 1985, as I discovered her as a teenager. Purely aesthetically speaking, Rose Mac Gowan can't match her, sorry to say. Is the latter, Patrick "the prisoner" Mc Gowan's daughter?
