maybe to show the director can be diffrent, so at least to show the film wasnt exactly the same as stephen king had written it, (every director has to leave a mark)and this is also proberly becasue they had to cut down the length of the film, and this was one way on doing this.. many adaptations of books in to films are dramaticlly cut down, if it was for word for word then it oculd be to long and rather boring, they want to stay captivating their audience

George Stark was just a name Thad invented to write the violent books about Alexis Machine. The whole burying of Stark is just a publicity stunt, he is "burying" Stark by telling the world he IS Stark, and quit writing the books about Machine. Watch the rest of the movie, or read the book, you'll get it.

no, not nice. you are misunderstanding. and in answer to your question i didnt pay much attention to the first part of the movie because i was busy counting my rice but i understood it that he was publicly declaring he was the author of george stark books (something he had kept secret) and that he no longer wrote those books any more. that guy threatened to expose the fact that he knew he was the real author but thad thought it would be better to publcly announce it himself. i could be wrong

I thought that George-Thad's other personality George-was actually writing the books himself because why would he go through all the trouble of finding a fake picture and a fake name for himself. And earlier in the movie, didn't his wife say that he was really different when he wrote his George Stalk books? Why would he want to keep his books a secret? Like, why would it matter if people knew Thad wrote the George Stalk books?
