I know what you mean about the kids of WSD1. My kids go to Carpathia school and they had a Christmas...um I mean Winter Concert with the theme "December Around the World" Various nations flags were hung on the stage. Of course there was Canada but there was no Union Jack or Stars and Stripes but there was Afghan, Iraqi and North Korean flags. Christmas was downplayed as a time of shopping while Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and the Chinese New Year (which is in January IIRC) were given full treatment.

re Kwanzaa search for the arrest record or Ron Karenga who founded it. The guy was in jail for kidnapping and torture,
I started requesting the background song for this "do they know it's Christmas time at all"
on local radio stations and dedicating it to our poor children.
