Reality is relative, this show is a work of fiction based on real life occurences, it is made to entertain and enlighten, if you watch the show you would know that Gloria is a caricature representing a culture, you only see boobs, but her character is very smart, witty, her curves are part of her appeal, but honestly, people would have been bored of her if it was just that, also she wouldn't have been nominated twice for a golden globes if that was the case.
