Hello, I'm a developer at an indie game company and we use the UDK. As i saw in this video, you used hit tracking. How do you turn that on? It would help a lot.
People are better at fighting in Mount and Blade. Doesnt really matter though, this LOOKS great. Gonna be a little wierd having tons of fully armoured knights who dont bother with horses though. Makes absolutely no sense.. but hey its your project.
Only problem I have with this is how long it is taking.. By the time this game comes out ill be playing War of the Roses and wont care about this lol...
Age of Chivalry was great, cant believe something like that was done on the Hl2 engine, but I ended up switching to mount and blade when warband came out because it is just so perfect with that stuff. Best thing about both these games is no fairy magic.

so did you create this hit detection in udk? because what you have made is kind of similar to what im trying to make but in third person only, can you direct me to a really useful tutorial on this or something similar plz many thanks, btw i have looked on the udk sites etc. but they dont come out as effective as yours did....also great scenary to run around in, was there specific techniques you use to make the scenary look so realistic? also does your computer have high specs?
i hope its as good as the first mod. and the dodge system isnt crazy.. (like CR1 when you ran around you enemy :D ) however im still gonna do that and there be like wtf!

I haven't played Age of Chivalry long enough to figure out all the gameplay elements, but are you guys going to implement a parry system that will give a quick attack boost to the winning parry? It's hard to explain, but the one who successfully parries an attack will get an immediate follow-up attack.
At 2:02, I tried to dodge that stab by flinching in my chair. Props to the creator's of this brutal and bloody medieval masterpiece. Hope you and your company have a lot of success. =)

the multiplayer will be a castle siege combat system? that would be so awesome,put 64 players support(from what i understand this is max players that unreal supports without heavily modifying the source code) add dragons/beasts/horse mounts and add more NPC in the fight for each side and make it somehow like a tower based game the battle would be so epic and baaaamm there u have it :)),i know, easy to say hard to put in practice XD
How will camera movement affect the trace of a swing? In Age of Chivalry, you were able to perform physically impossible feats like swinging your sword to the left, while rotating your camera to the right. Since the swing was fixed to your view, if you moved your view in the opposite direction of the swing, you could do things like concentrate an entire swing into a single spot, or make a right-to-left swing actually impact left-to-right, which again is physically impossible.
@anfauglir56 a pitty. i wonder why. i dont think it hurts the balance of online gameplay much if it's an option for the server. tell me, will C:MW have any SP content at all?
@anfauglir56 i agree, but 3rd person combat tends to feel better. in 1st person there is this technique of bobing and weaving, running back and side to side really fast and it looks cartoony and foolish in a game that is kinda realistic in it's feel. in 3rd person there are more limitations on the movement of characters because they are "explained" in their animations so combat feels better. that's my opinion. also read what cowpuppies said just above. kinda the same point.
I am really interested in seeing what this will look like with ranged weaponry, and how ranged combat will differ. Already, these are some major improvements to the original HL2 mods, and this version actually looks like it could be a big hit and a great standalone title. Also, I can't wait to see how vehicular combat (such as catapults) will be changed. We all already know there are many improvements to be made there, and if things continue going so well, I'm sure we won't be let down!

The combat system looks nowhere as good as the one in Mount and blade warband. It seems there's only 3 attack directions and only one way to block them all.
@mrpink260 We'll be covering the combat system in much more detail in future developer blogs, this blog was designed to show only the hit detection improvements in the game.
@TeamChivalry I truly hope you've tried out mount and blade since, imho, the number of tactical options - from the feinting system to the kick - makes it, if not the only one, the best medieval combat system on the market. At the moment.
@mrpink260 I can assure you we have played mount and blade and I agree with you that it represents the best quality melee combat currently available in an online experience. But we believe it can be better, and that is why we're making this game.
@TeamChivalry i agree it can be better i really hope you guys dont make that ridiculous way of canceling out your weapon swing last second in MnB... truely breaks the immersion and is quite a loophole the "more experienced" players use to always win
If they improve the hit detection, the game could be the best game ever.
Hit detection was the worst part of AoC, esp. that ppl. hit you with melee attacks while being not close enough to legally hit you (or atleast that was what my client thought). Esp. since you could "elongate" your attacks by abusing the hit detection system or make them faster by looking so far to the left that you couldn't see the guy you hit.
Can't wait for this. It looks AMAZING even in alpha. I'm definitely going to buy it. My expectations and hopes are very high because I know they'll do a great job and this solidifies that.

@adarwinter You can see enemies coming in ur back in 3rd person view, or enemies hidden you would not see in first person view.

I'm wasn't expecting much from "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" and to be honest I'm kinda impressed, I'll keep an eye on the game ;)
