In other words = He's scared of games that make no logical sense, but not scared of games that make sense.

The reason this game is scary is because of atmosphere. There are only two ways to scare people via video game and that's either by jump-scares or atmosphere scares. The type you play more frequently will contribute to the fear factor of the other type.

Honestly, I think the horror of videogames, comes from what your used to.

I play the modern Horror Games Like RE5, Amnesia, and Dead Space, and I get scared by those, but this game doesnt scare me at all, probably because of the graphic factors and that the new games have jump scares, so I;m not really scared of the slow, creeping scares.

@H20fulman Trust me. This game has JUMP scares. You walk then something can pop out of the thin air and chase you, attack you, etc. There's nothing you can do but just go into whatever dream you're forced into. It's just... unsettling.

The way I see it, PS1 graphics are a good comparison to the things we see in dreams, especially in this case. Example, I lucid dream constantly, and there is ALWAYS fog, things tend to be blocky, nothing holds consistancy or continuity. Thus this game is actually more realistic than "realistic" games. A bit of a play on the graphics available if you ask me :D

@giarcbonz it's not so much that they aren't life threatening, but that they're situations which have logical solutions (i.e., run away from the flames and oncoming plane, axe wielding maniac has a ton of solutions viable).

Stuff in this game though defies human logic/knowledge and explanation, and therefore there is no logical or known solution on how to deal with them if they existed in real life and were a threat, which makes them much more frightening to me.

1) multiple attacks (guns/bullets) from multiple angles from multiple people

2) too many variables on what each person's aiming at/trying to do

3) guns are much faster than an axe

compared to the axe werewolf, who:

1) is just one entity

2) only has a short range, melee weapon

3) you're in your house, so you know where potential hiding places are, plus anything that could be used to defend yourself

4) small hallway = axe fail

i think i know why this game scares you more that other games. it has weaker graphics than other games, which makes your mind take more time to understand completely what it is, and you are the kind of person that is more comfortable when you understand your enviornment. That's just a theory i made up based on how you said games with good graphics don't scare you as much.
