alll you need to do to the top is tease it, which is taking a strand of hair then back combing it. you don't want it to look all naughty and tangled, so kinda make sure theres no loose hair. then hairspray it :)

gah I have a chi and I can't hold both ends of it its too hot :( does anyone know of something I could attach to the straightener so I can hold it on both ends? I know it would make it easier to do these things

You don't really have to hold both ends of the straightener if you keep it level. Once you're done with the first inch or so of the strand, grab it near the roots to keep the hair steady while you finish the bottom. It sounds kinda confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it gets pretty easy if you use your wrist to turn the straightener (instead of your whole forearm.) I had to mess around with it because my straightener is too hot to grab at the other end :(

Instead of crimping your hair with a straightener (although it gives a different effect), you can make loose crimps by braiding your hair taking big sections. It saves time and it's hair-friendly. (:

Small Sections = Tighter waves

Big Sections = Looser waves.
