The Greek government has been trying for decades to preserve this site, rebuild it etc all efforts have failed or should i say made to fail deliberately by some powers that be as they would have to admit theft and return the stolen items. These items are net worth a few grand there priceless so there not going to admit this theft nor admit they own them. A couple of the pillars i know of are in America propping up a rich mans house doorway, you tell me where the justice is in that.
What he neglected to tell you is that the entire of that temple is in the London museum there ruins because the British tore it down, stole all the pillars and so on, shipped them over to the UK. Some were sold off others are kept in the museum in London. There all stolen and they wont give them back. They would still be standing today if they were not torn down and stolen.
I know that it's awful, and a shame that they would disrespect the gods in such a way (and we should all pray for vengeance), but we must all remember that stone and temples are not forever. It is the love and reverence for the gods which lives in our hearts that will last for eternity.
@Emanizer I would pray for them to gain wisdom and virtue instead, for someone who knows they have done wrong and is sorry can achieve more virtue than someone who is punished and is never sorry or who is too ignorant to understand why.
Wow, this is sickening. I'm really surprised that the government hasn't preserved the site at all. How could they throw away such a wonderful and rich history of their own country? Disgusting!
Wow your right this is sad it's almost like they don't care. I care about History, a clean environment, Aphrodite as well as the other gods of Olympus and that sacred sites of all faiths and all gods should be respected.
I don't know how I can help but I'll do whatever I can
It's beyond depressing to hear stories like this. Keep in mind a lot of the other God's and Goddesses temples were also destroyed by the Christian movement, and had temples built on the old foundation. The site does need to be cleaned, I agree, and the temple ruins need to be preserved. Sadly, a lot of people have forgotten about the Gods.. and with that, the respect we should have for them.
As a Greek I can say that some people of my country have no shame. At the same time this is very curious because, if you go to Greece everybody knows that you can't not even touch on the temples. You can be arrested for that. In other hand, they let people throw trash on the ruins. Why those people are not arrest then? They should be arrest. I don't get it. :/
As not only a pagan but also a historian and anthropologist its things like this which are devastating to hear but the indifference or worse deliberate act of destroying these historically important places. I’m linking that article around. Does the pagan news network know of this? I think they would be willing to spread this goings on more by writing about it.
It's shocking. These historical sites, belong to more than just the Greeks. The modern Greeks are the care-takers. This history belongs to everyone and should be respected and preserved.
My gods..... its like no one cares if its trashed a sactuary to us and they trash it its.....its...its degrating to the gods........UGH! disgraceful

It sounds like they are still living in the dark ages of "idol smashers", except their own, of course.
I support the Temple of Aphrodite in my heart. Hail the Gods of Greece!

@Genin99 If you go to the article, you will find the website of the group in Greece trying to stop it. They do have a petition to sign.

@PriestChristopher I just signed it and I'll try to spread the word further.
