Wish I saw this live. I love this piece. Having the resonation of the space is so great for performance. Good balance, too - I love hearing the fullness of each chord.
OK! I was stunned!!!! For what appears to be a relatively amatuer group - you are surprisingly professional in your sound! WOW! Absolutely superb control and musicality! And GOOD CHOICE there in the middle! Octave down - but it was OK - you made it work. And I would have absolutely AGREED with whoever said you should do this piece! BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for singing it. WOW, beautiful, first time I've heard without female voices. Absolutely beautiful, and I love how the tenor just dropped the soprano part an octive in the other movement.
It's probably something they just figured out themselves. From what I can tell, it's just the tenor singing the soprano part in the B section down an octave for a few measures, then the alto voices take over in the normal alto range after that. I was just trying to razz ya ;)
Is this arrangement by Durufle? I know he did do multiple versions of some of his works, but I don't know of this arrangement. Nonetheless, very good performance!
Just how poorly did I state the question? I have sung this piece many, many times. I KNOW it's Durufle! I KNOW it's an adaptation of an ancient chant! I want to know who adapted the familiar SATB version for this male ensemble. Geez!!

Pierces through the dogma of organized religion to express profoundly the uncontaminated spirit of life. Absolutely gorgeous. Brings tears.

A Very good men's version!
I still like the SATB, however.

Have sung this many times SATB with boys rather than women SA. Choral music does not get much better than this.

Straordinari. Ma si tratta del primo inno latino del canto cristiano?

This piece happens to be one of my all-time favorites. However, the performance here was a bit bland: no interesting shadings or passion.

Of course, it's Durufle :) originally scored for SATB

Um, not the piece, the arrangement. Who did the arrangement?
pagerbear 3 years ago
The basic melody is a gregorian chant. Durufle wrote the arrangement here. This choir is amazing. Do they record? As good as Chanticleer.

The do record. Google them or search for them on iTunes.
