He also has a book out about his aunt's life and claims that members of the Caravans are lesbians. It's just terrible, filled with bad grammar and bad spelling, and full of claims about the group that have been easily debunked by gospel music historians.

While that may be true, Cassietta's nephew never ever mentioned Josephine in his book when he made those claims, which leads me to think if he didn't mention Josephine, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

@jddrew1000 Why can't you be a lesbian and still praise God? God is deserving of the praise. And, everything that has breath should praise God. To paraphase Jesus, "Mind your sins, your faults, and your short comings, and leave other people alone". He gave us a great message in that word.
Well, you can, just not freely. When you are in sin, (and speaking from self experience), you don't feel as free to praise him. But when you alright with God, you feel like a weight has been lifted. I know.

Someone else may have a different testimony and a different experience with God. We should not limit God by the little that we know, should we? Rather, let everything grow together, and let God do the separating. We might be surprised at what God keeps and what is discarded.

Inez sounds the exact same as she does today. Shirley Casesar and Albertina Walker do also. And none of them have reached 30 in this recording and Shirley is only 19.

There is definately something special about this group of ladies & many others from their generation!!! They didn't sing for form or fashion (as the old folks say) but they just stood & continue to stand flat-footed & let the Spirit take care of the rest...they ain't have to put on no show!!!!

The mystery of our people is how our songs transcend category or cataloging. Delores Washington hoops that high note that strikes to the heart every time she sings it. Eddie Williams' frenetic piano playing!!! Hep ME!!!!
