  • My ensemble is working on this piece (I play sheng) and I have sent this video to the members to show them a very good performance that they can study.

  • Ohh, It's amazing! you have an ensemble playing chinese traditional music. I am curious about your ensemble and how you rehearsing and organizing. Why you like chinese music so much?

  • Many universities and communities in the U.S. have Chinese ensembles, especially since the 1990s and 2000s. I first learned erhu and sheng at Florida State University in 1989 and now lead the Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble in Cleveland, Ohio, which has eight members. We rehearse twice per month and perform all year around, especially for Chinese New Year.

  • You can see us playing a Cantonese piece in this YouTube video (I am playing a Taiwanese bamboo guan):

  • Excellent and beautiful playing here. It's great to see a highly skilled guban player as well, because many Jiangnan sizhu groups don't use it anymore.

Perhaps you could add the name of the group in English and "Jiangnan sizhu" to the video description as well, making this video easier to find for non-Chinese speakers.

  • Thank you very much for your advice.
