  • reminds me of the pod races i went to as a child on tatooine

  • how much a turbine engine?

  • mannnn id be shaking turning that in the first time lol

    very cool!!

  • do you still have the blue prints

  • i'm suprise how his hand hasn't been suck into the jet turbine...

  • how do you cool it so that you can touch?

  • sick!

  • how does this thing not just like push what its sitting on?

  • how much pounds of thrust does that have?

  • how does it stay kool enough to touch???

  • Comment removed

  • Is this a Kamps / Schrekling design?

I like the exhaust resonance sound after ignition.

Very well done, congratulations!!! You are a very skilled person.

  • where i could purchase this turbine with all its attributes ?

how many CFM it can produces ?

how many PSI or BARs at the back

how much polluted is the exhaust "air" ?

(if there are no reasonable question, at least tell me some approx. data, or where i could read the answers)

  • doesn't it become to hot? we learnd that metall can burne up if we don't cool the ecxaust gases. and youres look really hot. did you use nickel based alloy? and did the metall burne up?

  • i love this things. once you got it started its gonna take a while to get them to calm down. lol

  • ...and then it flys off the stand and blows your hand off.

  • alright Negative Nancy

  • oh damn. At 1:39 it looks like a bug flew through the exhaust and got his ass fried

  • umm, im not sure if u should be lecturing anyone if u think 'transonic' describes speeds of mach 5 and over.

  • @ratodoesgato actually no u r wrong transonic is the barrier between sub sonic and supersonic ex 690mph-800mph

  • Sounds like a GE90 in mini shape.

  • perfect for a rc f-16

  • at :21 ...FRIKIN AWESOME SOUND!!

  • how lbs?? :d :| .. I want one for my bike... do you think that is powerful enough to push me (~65kg) + my bike (~8kg) :d :| if I get 70km/h I'm satisfied :D

  • haha nice xD

  • that would work well as a nail cutter!

  • how much is the price for a turbine like these?

  • lots!

  • $4,000-$7,000

  • What a sound !!!!

  • don't burn?

  • awesome

  • i love this thing :-)

  • Wer fragen zu einer Modellstrahlturbine hat, ich selbst baue Modellstrahltriebwerke!! Einfach mailen!!!

  • man i wanna get one of those haha

  • this sound is sooooo amazing!

  • the normal engine sounds like a car the AMAZING sound is the blades goin supersonic... i think

  • i guess this wont work if the blades go supersonic because of the shockwaves, you have to stay subsonic or maybe transsonic

  • or may be transexual, but thats another story isnt it

  • The high pitched sound is generated by the air moving past the spinning blades at a higher frequency. The faster the blade spins, the higher the pitch. It's kinda hard to explain, but if you take a can of compressed air and an old computer fan, you can probably understand it better than when I can explain it.

  • a gas turbine engine will not work if the airflow over the blades passes supersonic speeds, just because of the pressure wave created. would cause the engine to just flame out i think

  • then how does an F-16 fly?

  • because air is slowed as it goes into the engine intake..by the time it reaches the engine its travelling subsonic.

  • The SR-71 (A-12) especially needed this concept.

  • @FlyinFreek With it's wings.

  • That little engine + Ultralight or hang glider= Personal jet aircraft

    Nice work ;)

  • Have you measured how many pounds of thrust you're getting?

  • wicked sounds on the turbine. how many RPM is it doing?

  • i would keep thinking its gonna take off flying through my shop..

  • Thats wicked... just love the sound of that thing!

  • omg..how many rpm?

  • Excellent !!!

  • just friggin beautiful.

  • sounds like a 747 taking off form 00:14 - 00:25.

  • @britishairwayspilot1 OMG it's true ! XD XD i remember that precise sound when i was going to NY with the british airways's 747.........

  • @britishairwayspilot1 i agree, sounds like a GE CF6 engine at 50% N1

  • @guitarplayerforu yup. i was gonna say that but i decided to make it short

  • @britishairwayspilot1 do you fly for british airways?

  • @guitarplayerforu not at the moment but ive started training with them :)

  • @britishairwayspilot1 what aircrafts do you train in? are they little turboprops or jets?

  • @guitarplayerforu ive started to fly twin engines now. and turbo props. im getting there!

  • @britishairwayspilot1 do u like the force of taking off? i get a real good thrill when you hear engines spool up to 50% n1 tand then the feeling when it pins you back to your seat at 100% N1. bet you'd love to fly the boeing 787 dreamliner and the airbus a380 wouldnt you?

  • @guitarplayerforu I LOVE IT :P

  • @britishairwayspilot1 what plane did you first fly at flying school? i love the new boeing 787 dreamliner and the new boeing 474-8 intercontinental, two beatiful aircrafts and very technologically advanced especially the 787 cos the new 747 is based on the 787 partly. the new 747, has the 787 interior and tech, higher spec GEnX Engines, the 787's swept wings which includes some composite materials. i think boeing will sell more 747-8i once their test flying. people may dump the a380 for it.

  • @guitarplayerforu Piper arrow iii , cessna 150 and 172. now ive started training on a baron 58. i totally love both 787 and 747-8i. 787 looks very elegant as it is and its interior. i dont even know what the trent 1000 sounds like!! but i heard it sounds simillar to the 777 trent 800. I love the 787 in All Nippon Airways livery. and i can't wait for the 747-8i to be delivered to Lufthansa. It looks epic in its orangy-red rollout livery.

  • @britishairwayspilot1 did you feel the power at take off in a cessna? and a trent 1000 is very quiet and it sound growls more now than has a buzzsaw sounds, the GEnX-1B engine is a great engine sounds like a ge90 but a lot quieter. the GEnX is was developed from the GE90-115B, its just more advanced now, the GEnX is basically the GE90'S Baby brother, hasnt got as many blades as GE90 and best thing about it it ge have made the GEnX out of mostly composite materials.

  • @guitarplayerforu yup that would be true.

  • @britishairwayspilot1 what planes do airlines generally send over to turkey, egypt and portoventura?

  • @guitarplayerforu i think anything between a 737, a320 series, a330 or a 777.

  • @britishairwayspilot1 i wonder weather boeing 787's will be used on flights to turkey cos thomson use boeing 757-200's and 767-300ER on the routes from manchester to turkey, and their getting their 787's in 2012 so i wonder weather they'll send 787's instead of 767's and 757's?

  • @guitarplayerforu hmm.that could be so.

  • @britishairwayspilot1 its about time the ages medium-long range 767's and 757 ritred gracefully and not with disasters cos their getting very old. the 787 is a great all round med-long range airplane. cant wait to travel on it one day

  • @britishairwayspilot1 Hi!!!. U sound like u might be able to answer a question for me,what would be the highest Mach speed of a commerical or military jet today???.

  • @myleftnutts Commercial: .85 is tops ( not counting concorde) Military: skies the limit!

  • You ever seen 747-s run with fire out the back of their engines (though yeah, they have turbo ventilator engines, not turbojets... But even fighters only show fire when in afterburn)? The combustion takes place inside, between the compressor and the turbine stage. All that makes it out is expanding gases.

  • Actually, full size engine also shoot some flames during startup.

You would see it when looking straight into the exhaust. but when viewed from the side, you don't see the flames because they are in the afterburner ducting. Remember that the afterburner itself makes out about half the length of a typical engine.

  • I was referring to the actual operation, not startup stage of the engines, but good point nonetheless. Burning outside the engine would be unpractical in the first place, 'cause it would provide minimal thrust.

  • burning outside the engine would also be really dangerous, with commercial craft, it would probably light the plane up.

  • that sound is so relaxing for some reason :S

  • incredible my got put that to an rc car or plane or something cool

  • hi, im a student and i was very fascinated by your jet engine. i am interested in mechanics and technology and i thought this would be an excellent project for me and a few of friends and some teachers to work on. so if you could possibly send me some parts or even theblueprints used in your engine that would be much appreciated

  • Thanks for the info. Any specs like rmp or thrust? Whats the smallest you built?

  • I think the bench might be bolted to the ground and the engine bolted to the bench. I want to make one where did you get the designs

  • Very coooll... But you seem to be able to move it with ur hand! What is the thrust and RPM of this kitty? Shouldn't it be trying to rip of the bench or something? Instead u just adjusted its railing with ur hand!! whats with that?
