  • The game turned the child into a goblin. His parents are going to sue MB into bankruptcy.

  • Am I the only person who was actually terrified of that troll at the end?

  • @Cubtalia Yes, and it isn't a troll. It's clearly some sort of goblinoid.

  • @Cubtalia Nope...you sure weren't because I was too...in fact it even put me off buying the game...but then I used to be a bit scared when the kid used to turn into a honey monster in the sugar puff adverts...

  • £21.99

That won't even buy a tactical squad now. Ouch

  • DREDNAWT

    PLAHSMAH GAHN-oh sorry wrong game

  • @KaptinScuzgob LOL, Yeah you're looking for HeroQuest in Space.

  • "ARR USE MY BROADDSOOORD!"

    "FYA OF ROFF!!!"

  • I'll use my "Bro'd swoed"! (?)

They should have got someone who can fucking speak for that part.

  • I never played Hero Quest, but I remember this commercial from my childhood.

  • ...Christopher Lee?? O_o

  • why he throw battle dices and move dices at the same time?! WTF ?! Running and fighting at the same time ?!?!

  • @FreeWinSlave that's how I do all my fighting, it's the cool kid's way ^_^

  • I still have the original Hero Quest and 3 of the expansions, this got me into doing warhammer 40k

  • My uncle still has this game and a couple fo exapnsion packs: I hope he will let him play it soon or late :-)

  • Loved this game, still got it but a number of parts missing, i also have Advanced Heroquest which was better but kinda a bit more complicated.

Hero Quest was easy to get started and so good for a quick game or beginers, who remembers Space Crusade their 40K universe version.

  • @BanjoKiD2K

    I remember Space Crusade :D

  • HeroQuest rules!

  • Damn. Need to play Heroquest again

  • Is that chrisopher lees voice??

  • @MisterBrauner it is indeed^^

  • I remember this commercial. I still have the board game at my house.

  • Would anyone else agree - who was actually there - when looking at something like this it makes you realise how utterly shit life is as a grown up now? Nothing but taking orders all the time, f/a imagination required and having to use sex and drink as compensation for your misery?

Shit these things were way more fun than life is today, and your friends were still interested in actually doing stuff ;oD

  • @addernoir01 Fucking phenomenal comment. I would give you my Fire of Wrath if I could!

  • @addernoir01 You deserve 48k+ likes for this comment.

  • When cockneys play boardgames...

  • FIRE AT BROTH

  • This is the follow-up advert, there's an earlier HQ advert where it shows them all fighting in a big hall. It's very much like a fore-runner to the LOTR scene! :)

  • I USE MAR BRAWDSARWD!!!

    FIRE OF WROFF!!

  • So epic with Christopher Lee as the narrator =)

  • Wasn't there a "Battle Masters" commercial as well?

  • stupendo questo gioco

  • Thanks for sharing this. I have the original set right next to me, contemplating if I should eBay it. It seems to hang on just for sentimental value, but it was definitely fun playing with friends. mid 80s to mid 90s were the best.

  • i think there were another 3 packs as well as these 2. one was about ogres, another was about 4 wizards and i remember they brought one out which was a blank quest book with stickers to make your own :).

  • @alyndavies There were more then 3 packs you mentioned... there was also the Frozen Horrar Barbarian expansion and the Mage of Mirrors Elf expansion, both only released in North America. You can find all the quest expansions on eBay, but expect to pay a small fortune. The two North American expansions are the most scarce and hard to come by. Expect to pay $400 usd / 300 EUR and up for either of these.

  • That voice-over...Sir Christopher Lee??

  • @MaceIII

it is indeed. damn, they should make a new version of this game with ALL the expansions. that would be heaven

  • @Ancientmariner1981 I agree. I have to find the remaining 4 Quest Packs to do so (I already have the first 2). For now, we'll have to settle for as is or Warhammer Fantasy.

  • I used to love this game! I never got the expansion packs, but it was still fun to play! Wow I feel nostalgic.

  • I think you can buy a commemorative edition of this from Games Workshop for those who want it (again!)

  • Noone told me there were FOUR MORE Quest Packs after Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. Now I have to shop around to find all of them. When I get all of them, I plan on making a "Final Quest" saga by combining all the packs extras for a final showdown with Zargon/Morcar. Who'd have thought this would kickstart Warhammer?

  • FAHR OF WROTH!

  • Well I have this commercial on a tape and it was recorded as a commercial break for "Pete's Dragon" on WGN I'd say 15 or so years ago and the commercial is great. Its too bad they don't have this game in production anymore.

  • I remember that blood thirster figure had a lot of very sharp points...and couldn't the elf turn into a goblin?

As the prophecy reads, "It was thrown in rage at many a brother, such is the bellicose curse."

  • why dont i still have this.

  • Here-Oh-Quest!!!

  • I vaguely remember this game. This is the reason why the game Quest for Glory had to change it's name. Sad... =(

  • Dood I remember spending weekends playing this game! Fucking good ass times.

  • "Ah'll use moy brod-sowd!"

    "Far of wroth!"

  • Fire of Wroth! hahaha this is hilarious, and the goblin/orc is so cheesy... it's fantastic

  • The voice actor sounds a lot like Christopher Lee. Perhaps he was doing a few ads during his slow period in the late 80's?

  • @MrColorcrayons Perhaps. If it is, it just adds extra layer of awesomeness to an already amazing game.

  • I used to love that game as a child.

  • I still have this game...got it at a garage sale for pretty cheap now the minatures are mostly used for me and my friends dungeons and dragons games.

  • Barudh soord and fyah ov wrath versus plasma gun and dreadnought

    Any takers?

  • [in a douche voice] I'll use my broadsword!

[in a douchier, "I can't fucking speak" voice] Fiahr of Wrauauth!

  • @SiGhast lol, yeah!

  • @SiGhast Surly they could find actors in better conditions.

  • I got this game at a local flea market for 7 dollars, its in pretty good shape only its missing one of the open doors,

  • that was my fav game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my God!

I saw this spot when I was a child.

    Thanks for the vídeo.

  • yes i know warhammer came out in 83,what i meant was that people played this without ever knowing that it was in fact an incarnation of warhammer to begin with.I meerly made a simple mistake by saying that it was "early version".

  • no tthe 1st games workshop came out in 1974 ans warhammer was relesed in 76

  • Incorrect,

Warhammer the roleplaying game came out in 1983.

  • 1980 space hulk was. games workshop opened in 74 with a game called fighting fantasy. it was a 1 player book game.

  • @SillyMonkeyProd

Space Hulk 1989. Not like correcting anyone on the internet matters, but when youre as wrong as you are its hard to resist.

  • no it was like 1987 because games workshop opened in 1975

  • @SillyMonkeyProd

Read the date on the box before you continue to make false assertions. Space Hulk 1989. You're 13 years old, you weren't even around when it was made so its understandable to be mistaken. But dont start blabbing like you know these dates as if you experienced them. Because your wrong either way.

  • hey im an expert on games workshop so you dont come to me saying i dont know anything about it just because in 13 ive been playing since i was 7. im not the ideot who doesnt know a thing about warhammer.

  • @SillyMonkeyProd

Oh sorry, I didn't know you were an expert. If you were an expert, you might have taken the time to do some more research before posting false information. Most "experts" take the time to be right, not appear like a 13 year old who has no idea what he is talking about. You might need to brush up more on your GW history. Also, stay in school and work on your spelling. Its positively embarrassing how bad your spelling and syntax is.

  • im spelling wrong because im typing fast and my keyboard is broken u dick. i happen to have a 3 editions of the game

  • just because it wrong doesnt mean you can question my knolage on warhammer

  • and so what i got the date wrong so what you dont need to be a dick bout it. i love space hulk.

  • MMM pathetic earthling. You are incorrect.

  • well guess what?.....who gives a fuck?

  • I'LL USE MY BRODE SODE

  • Lol, you're right. Totally sounds like it! ^^

  • I'll use my BROWD SWORD INNIT!

  • BROWDSOWD

    FIRE OF ROFF

  • conan barbarrr!!!!!!!!

  • lotta ppl don't know, but this game was an early version of warhammer.we had the same plug here in the U.S.

  • I distinctly recall they dubbed American voices for the kids in the US spot though.

  • no it wasn't.... heroquest was a simplified boardgame version of Warhammer which appeared in 83, Heroquest came out in 89

  • No joke? Do you have any further info?

  • Pure Nostalgia

  • yeah man, god i miss the 80's, hot summers and birthday parties. today sucks lol

  • I'll use my broadsword!!! I completely forgot about that. What a great game.

  • browed sword and fire of roth huh?

  • Broadsword and Fire of Wrath. And actually, once you bought the Broadsword, you threw three dice to attack if you weren't the Barbarian or Wizard.

  • that is still very expensive. its probably double that now

  • I got it..... still BEAUTIFUL

  • Isn't that Christopher Lee's voice?

  • It MUST be!

  • I want to say yes. But am unsure

  • i loved that game

  • Ah, brought a tear to the eye that one, I use to love this game!!! I've still got it with all the european expansions, unpainted and 100%....maybe it's time to start walking the dungeons again!!

  • It is a classic, and I remember a game set in the same Warhammer Universe, in which you had to siege a castle. The memories.

  • Battle Masters?

  • I still have it, wow so classic.. and its stil very much fun to play!

  • currently bidding for a mint condition hero quest on ebay - loved this game!!!

  • I love this game... I remember having the "Advanced" version from it by Games Workshop... still wish I had that damn game :)

  • Hi there! I still have it, but it must go since I have no time to play it. Would you be interested in it? Got the 1989 version (the first one ever), in mint condition and complete.

  • this game is teh pwn! so many good memories with this.

  • I use mah brauwdsauwd

  • @MadcapMan great

  • This game rocked. Wish I still had mine in good condition.

  • Still have mine. Mint.

  • il goblin sembra lo Scrondo dell'Araba Fenice :)

  • Awesome Awesome game

  • this is my favorite game i still have it with all the pieces and miniatures painted,, i only have 1 expansion i am looking to get all the xpansions and paint them...i just LOVE it...

  • Wow, add another one to the nostalgia pile. I think they also aired this on American TV because I believe this is the commercial I saw. It's great to see this, despite the fact the kids in the video are flaming homosexuals.

  • haha i used to love heroquest, and remember this advert. ihow deep is the kids voice when he says 'broadsword' lol

  • I still have the game myself...AND the booster packs (Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord). Wish the others got into the States as well, but you go with what you got.

  • ahhhh.. i loooove this game! couple years ago we picked it up at Good Will or somthing, and let it sit in our basement for ever... but just recently me and me friends saw it an got it out to play, and now WERE HOOKED>>>>>!!#@##

sooo much fun. were ordering D&D now also lol. this game made me a nerd i guess but idc

    P.S..... im a barbarian :D

  • really? thats disgraceful >/ america has been like one big commercial opportunity for such a long time. must be horrible always feeling like you're purpose in life is to be marketted to... guess its the same everywhere but not quite as bad as america =/

  • great great game..played it all the time when i was alot younger and still have the set!..thank you for posting this!

  • This game is quality! Played it for the first time in ages the other day with my brother & his kids ! They are only 6&7 so they were fuckin rubbish at it ! For some reason i used to be the Dwarf when i played it when i was young! The Barbarian is much better, i kicked some ass! The Wizard is shite he cant use any weapons apart from the staff and that only boosts the attack to 2 dice ! Fuckin crap

  • i got this for christmas back in 89... i miss those times when life was alot simpler.

  • @breathingthefumes When life could be decided by a roll of the dice!

    muwahah!

  • @breathingthefumes yep.now its all bills.and stress,work and bullshit asshole neighbors

  • @breathingthefumes 80s forever..cool time fun times

  • ahh my intro to d&d. thank you heroquest (still have it! looking forward till my kid gets older)

  • I'll use my broadsword.....FIRE OF WRATH!!!

  • That game kicks ass!!! It's a simple version of D&D. My only complaint is the magic and weapon cards I have aren't in color but what can you do. I still managed to score it for 50 cents at a tag sale

  • you bought this for 50 cents? damn. These go for up to $70 on ebay. I got this game for christmas and still have it.

  • oooldschooool

  • I also just noticed that the "prototype" throne furniture piece must have originally had a franken-face on top... look closely. The board also has more spaced out tiles and thicker room borders... possibly made to accentuate the quick glimpses

  • Toys aren't as good in America as they are in other countries. For one thing every character based toy has a huge logo on it. At least that's what it was for me growing up.

  • Since when were barbarians a monster type that you must "face"... I suppose if you are Zargon... I love the midget goblin :) So why are these bases round and wtf to the color card illustrations! this commercial LIES! All is well when you find out it's the best game on earth.

  • You're damn right!

  • whups! I meant to reply to nurgleboy and marked him as spam by accident! Sorry! :D

  • Man, I saw this ad when I was nine and I practically crapped my pants. From that day forward I CRAVED to play this game. This commercial started me on the long, dark path to being the uber-geek Dungeonmaster I am today. :P

  • Oooo, round miniature bases, colored illustrations on cards! ;)

    Hero Quest rocked.

  • i think seeing this may as a child may have led to spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds on GW figs over the years!

  • Hours and hours spend on this back in the early 90's! My mum used to be a great gamemaster :) I'd definately play it again. Can't wait til my boy is old enough to buy a set off Ebay for him :)

  • seems like you should have gotten into other games workshop stuff. shame

  • ..i still play heroquest..in a basement..with my dork friends....however im lucky enough to have a girlfriend who loves being zargon..

  • Silly boy... There was never a 'Zargon' in heroquest...

  • actually there was..zargon and morcar are the same person/wizard..prob a difference in the american and uk versions..

  • oop... i got pwned by a bigger geek...

    XD ah well...

  • I think this very commercial is the thing that started me down a lifelong path of geekdom.

  • it was for me~ :)

i saw it when i was 6 and had to have it that christmas.

20 years later and i still love warhammer and 40k xD

    it was life changing hehe

  • Totally the same story for me (although in my case it's D&D instead of Warhammer). I can really link my entire obession with fantasy gaming to this one 30 second commcercial.

  • Awesome!!!
