By that quote alone, she implies that the men who die in horrific blood battles don't matter as much as their wife or child. Even the men who come back from war with a disabling injury such as a lost eye or an amputated limb (or several), do not matter as much as the fully able to support herself wife does, again, by that quote's implications.
