I've just bought this and it's what I'm after but I'm having one problem, Alt key is acting like an Alt Gr key on a standard key board but I just want it to be a normal Alt key. any way in switching it about ?
To browse the internet. I got custom firmware on my PS2 so it is not just a game console HAHAHA. It is also a media player with internet connection. I can see and play network files over the internet over sshfs file system. It will be easier to configure my modified PS2 with this keyboard.
I have oneof this for my htpc and i'm very satisfied... just an add to the function, you can also tap the touchpad for a single click and double tap for a double click...
There are some pretty awful reviews of the TomTop chinese wholesale website. How was your ordering experience? Also, how does the keyboard work at longer distances like 15 feet?
I read the same reviews before I ordered. So, when I ordered, I first used the online chat that they have to ask questions. I then used paypal to pay for the order ($3) and payed for the air mail w/tracking ($3) and it arrived in less then 2 weeks. So I would give them a A+++ and @ 15ft it works great :D
This looks like it could be really great for an HTPC -- but here's a very important question before I sink up to $50 on it -- What kind of range can you get? You were testing it point-blank; I've been having a hard time finding a wireless keyboard that works far enough away from my TV set. Can you test out a reliable range and post back with the results?
ok, Its hard to test this indoors but here are my results, I tested my indoor distance at 63.5ft (this is the max distance I could test to not the max of the device) from one side of my house to the other. Thank god for open floorplans and 5x zoom :) I hope this info helps.
Thanks!, I got the device to help the forum and did the review to answer some of the questions from the members. It was such a cool device I'm just glad that others are now selling them :D
Hello , nice review... I would like to know if there is an easy way to scroll through web pages and such , and also if there is any programmable keys ?
Thanks, there doesn't seem to be a touchpad scroll. But, I find that the D-pad (aka up,down, left, right button) works for scolling on the web. I also have not seen any programable features on it either.
being that im not very technical what does all that mean...what im really interested in the sidevice for is a device i can use and mount onto my dj midi controller so i can use it and no longer get m hands on my laptop since it has the track pad and keyboard...i can some ow make a bracket to hold it onto my midi controller so once im playing out i never have to reach up to touch the macbook
Ok, I just verified that is does work with macbooks. After pluging the device in you will be asked to identify the device. to do this first press the ( z ) key right of the shift then press the ( / ) this will id the device. Ps. the keyboard works right from the start.
this video makes me want to buy one but i cant seem to find it in an all black color at that price. either its an all white model, or silver enclosure with black keypads for the $50 price range. i also have the option of paying 90 dollars for the all black model that you have though. where do i find your all black model for about the $50 price range?
They have the wrong picture up for the Grey/black one -- it's actually black/black. Can't find the grey/black. If anyone gets a hold of one; I'll trade my black/black for it!
@1Kamilion cool man, good looking out, I've got my eye on the white one, setting up a little HTPC and this is perfect for it, but need it to work with mac

Nice review. But I've got two questions:
1- Can you right mouse click directly on the touckpad or you have to press to buttom?
2- Doy you know if it works for the Simbiam 3 ( for the Nokia N8)?
Thx.

I bought mine from ascothomemedia and it arrived the very next day! It was the lowest UK price I found and it came with free next day shipping.
Really happy with it, works SO well with Plex and my Mac Mini :)

why would you use such a fucked tablet to do the review??
rawrrrOH 1 year ago
Hi,
You note that it's working range is almost 30 meters, while I purchased one from the same seller, and it doesn't get even close to that.
It gives a good performance up to 3 meters, and the signal dies at 4 meters from the dongle.
Did you do more precise distance measures?
Plus if you plug the dongle at the back of the computer, the working distance gets even smaller.

That's incredible, thanks so much. Definitely viable for an HTPC controller, then.
Thanks for bringing this product to my, and engadget's attention.

Yes, hold Alt key then tap the F4 works. But, For crtl-alt-del you hold the Fn key then tap the Enter key

Yes; it's not bluetooth, and includes it's own 2.4Ghz USB dongle, much like logitech mice.
It should work just fine with OSX. I'll test in in a couple days when mine arrives from tomtop.

You can get 'em at toptop for fifty bucks, tinyurl/rii-mini-blk
