Just spent most of today watching your series and reading all the comments. Well done...hope you go far with your work. Have you sent any of these to any tv companies? It would be great to see them reproduced and shown on tv!
I spend an entire night watching the series - I know just as well to expect this - but to end on this note... just touching. (there is injustice in the world! but we live in the age of Obama! aaah!)
Well done - I hope you go somewhere with what you can do.
I like the series, but what's the counterfactual? If Thames were still there, wouldn't they probably have declined as well? And have bought up all the other stations on the way (the others couldn't have existed without Thames after all). I reckon even a fully regionalised ITV today would be pretty bland.
What a fantastic set of vids. This should be broadcast on 'real' TV. Well done.
And it does make you think that ITV is now far blander, less exciting, less involved now than it ever was. It somehow feels, smaller, even though it's one single, big organisation.
You know what Applemask, you should have been in charge of making the "50 Years of ITV" series, since in this series you've done a job 12 times better than the one ITV did when they celebrated their 50th.
@ste1bro I use RealPlayer to download these videos, then I convert them using its converter feature to WMV Files. Lastly, I reassemble them in Movie maker.
Bloody hell. You nearly had me choked up at the end there (and I nearly typed 'coked up'...).
Fantastic series, Applemask - I don't know if it's the career path you intend to go down, but I really hope you get to do this kind of thing for a living someday. I can easily see this in a fifteen minute slot on BBC4.
Now I can't wait for the promised Children's TV 'epilogue' episode!
LWT always had me curious about Granada's generic idents, if any region owned by Granada could, could they just drop it right away, or would they have had to convince Granada to let them do it?
Bravo!!! Loved it, loved all it. Thank you for showing me the history of your country's television in an informative, entertaining, and I have to say quite touching manner.
You do anything like this again, and I'll be there to watch!
I quite liked the videowall ident.

This is an impressive peice. Just shows you that YouTube has stolen the innovation that TV once had.

OMG a village in barnsley is called carlton!
I used to actually think it had something to do with the itv company, how wrong (and relieved) I was...

Oh, I hope you don't mind, but I popped the entire series onto disc for a computer-phobic mate of mine who's been desperate to see it!

How do you record the serise?

There's a Firefox add-on called 'Download Helper', which lets you download any video from Youtube or a similar site onto your hard drive.
You can burn them onto a disc with 'Convert X To DVD' or similar software.
It's great watching 'ITV In The Face' on my big TV!

Fantastic. Absolutely Fantastic. You seriously need to be given a TV show. Somehow, I doubt ITV will be first in the queue ;)
Well done on a brilliant series. Looking forward to whatever you do next.

Superb. One of the best TV series of the year, if you can call it a TV series...

Excellent as always, I'm sad to see this series go. And as I type this, the tears keep streaming down my cheeks. :*)

I think I'm going to cry aswell!!
What have Cancer and Greedy-da done to our beloved Channel 3?!
ITV are a pathetic excuse of a broadcaster nowadays.
They've destroyed British Music through the X Factor.
They ram Z-list Celebrites down our throat at every opportunity.
And worst of all they destroyed Local news like Westcountry Live and Border Lookaround.
