@K1ngggg dude, what do you expect? before i watched this i knew the intel would top that cpu. notice they didn't use an amd quad? it would have been a much better comparison. did you read the info? the point is, the amd is running almost as good as the q6600. not to mention the lowered prices.
I lol watching this video three years later, Q6600 owners are still gaming on their Q6600's. Athlon 64 dual core owners? Well, lets just say they got the short end of the stick.
@fishrule1942 I still use my Q6600 OCd to 2.9Ghz (power supply is too small to go any higher) for gaming every day, I'm very hesitant to upgrade, because the Q6600 still blows some processors out of the water.

Stupid pointless video of loading times of applications ffs...why didnt u make a video of rendering a video on both cpu's or modern games such as GTA IV. nobody cares on loading times as long as it doesnt take forever. My Quad core Q9300 3.4Ghz loads slower than my bros Pentium dual core E6300 3.6Ghz.in applications but in games like GTA IV, Mafia II his framerate cant match the quad he is bottlenecked badly. this vid was made when applications didnt support quad. make a new 6400 vs q6600 video.

Dude every one knows AMD is better in the real word, that is why THG is trying so hard to use all sorts of Synthetic benchmarks to try to prove Intel is faster....
No its true. I had many intel processors (q6600,celeron e1600, e4500) and many amd (5200+, phenom ii x2 545, phenom ii x4 940) the amd processors are running smoother everything and they had fewer bugs than intel ones. RAM and Motherboard specs would make a difference. I have owned both CPU's and in a fair fight the Q6600 would beat 6400+, and I am an AMD fan so don't cry that I'm an intel junkie.
This testing sucks because they are done on completely different systems. If you visit Tomshardware CPU charts (or any other website), the Q6600 is generally way ahead.
uhm, i have the intel q6600 and mine takes like 15 seconds to completely startup, and programs open immediately, i smell something fishy about this video
Can you say that about Pentium 4's or D's. Ummm, NO. Now AMD has the Athlon II X2 and Athlon II X4, And the new X4's are under $100. Intel do you have a QUADCORE for under $100. Didn't think so. The main reason why AMD holds back is MONEY. Intel have it and AMD doesn't. But AMD is far from done. They dominate the market as far as price per performance. And like this video states "Real World Test". That Q6600 was way too expensive win it came out., And when it was affordable, it was outdated.
1. The Q6600 was better value for money and faster than the first generation Phenom series. Not only that, but it overclocked far better and used less power.
2. The Q6600 G0 revision had fantastic value for money.
You know whats really funny is that when the Athlons came out back in 2002 I believe they dominated the market. Killing the P4's. Then the Dual Core market came and Intel introduced the Pentium D's and AMD introduced the Athlon X2's and Killed them too. So from 2002-2005/06 till the Core 2's came out AMD had the market. The Core 2's or only better cause Intel pack a shit load of cache in that processor. The Athlon's were so advanced for the time that they are still in use today.
You are all wrong, PS3 uses AMD and Xbox uses powerpc (IBM) where'd you get this info? Xbox 360 only time we have had problems is when my brother dropped it :S
Wow, how clueless do the commenters here have to be? First off, the Q6600 is faster than the 6400 at stock, period. The only apps that benefit off the 6400 are strictly frequency-based. Then, opening a bunch of programs doesn't really test the CPU much at all, does it? It all depends on the hard drive. My E5200 can open up WordPad twice as fast as my Phenom II 945. And also, startup times don't include BIOS screens... that has to do with the motherboard... Fucking idiotic illiterate uploader.
these tasks dont really use the cpu you only open /close them the HDD must do the most the cpu doesnt do much while you are doing this. so i think this test isnt 100% reliable ftl. and the clock speed of the 6400+ is higher then the Q6600 whilest most tasks are only single threaded the 6400+ has the advantage
At high frequencies, yes... at the same frequency as the i7 or 12mb C2Q's, not even close. And I hope you're talking about Phenom II's, because 65nm Phenom's suck horribly.
What's with this hating? There are more important things in life than AMD or Intel. I still have my 6400+ x2, it has server me well 2 years, but now i'm gonna get i7 920. If you don't want to waste money, get AMD, it has good performance :)
The reason the windows opened up slowly is because of the RAM, I'd say your intel Q6600 has about 2 GB of ram in the computer, while the AMD has atleast 3 GB, or maybe 4, but AMD is better then intel, you didnt have to lessen the ram to proove it either, just use some highly intesive games like, Code of Honor 3, or some blue ray videos
This all seems very academic, at the end of the day the Q6600 way out guns the 6400+. In fact until recently I had always used AMD processors, my last being a 6400+ BE. I wasnt particularly impressed and bought an E6750 I found that even this dual core cpu (when ocd) outperformed the AMD in every day apps.
This is because of SSE3, SSSE3, and SSE4, and probably SSE4.1, which bring gaming to a new level AMD uses 3D NOW, 3D now 2, 3D now 3, etc which games dont take much advantage of, however if you can get a game that takes advantage of 3d nw, and its a fun game, the by all means use Intel because if games would use the 3D Now EXTRA FEATURES, then gaming would be even more insane
The computer speed is not equal to the hard drive speed. Run 5-6 Winrar tests in the background AT THE SAME TIME and try to play some game and watch the FPS meter again. The Quad will be almost the same, the Double cored AMD will be much lower!
The Q6600 is Twice fast than the Athlon64 X2 6400+, beleive me. This test was about the speed of the hard drive. Try convert with movie maker, not just load it! You will be surprised! The Quad Core intel is much MUCH faster, than the AMD based system with 2 cores! OFF: I'm an AMD lover!
This Computer with the Intel Processor must have problems because it is terrible slow and I really don't think that this is the fault of the processor...
cn you plz help me i will be buying the amd phenom ii but which 1 shall i buy 940 or 955 and 955 is costs £30 more than 940 so is it worth it thx plz reply
what i was talking about is that is it worth spending more money on 955 when i cn overclock 940 so you tell me which one to buy and i am getting the BIOSTAR TA77E motherboard and it says that it supports am2+ and is am3 ready so i cn get any on my choice i checked on google as well and it does support both
Dude are you fucking kidding me? Why in the hell does the Q6600 take forever to even get to the Loading bar? I have the Q6600 and it screams. I have mine clocked at 3.6ghz idling at 34C. Even at stock clocks of 2.4ghz, it destroys this 6000+ you have in the video. The Q6600 your using is either fucked, or on a fucked up partition, or a fucked up installation because there is no way it takes that long to get to the loading screen. I know this for a fact, i own the chip.
"Even the E6750 is better than the Q6600"- Wow your an absolute moron- just stop talking. I know The Toms hardware website lies and your correct. LOL Fucking dickless faggot.
ya whoever made this video and believes in this shit is/are complete morons. Its funny how this video advocates "pay no attention to legitimate website reviews and benchmark scores- instead watch this completely non-scientific-non accurate video" What a bunch of crock.
@Nobzu umm no not at all- the Q6600 is one of the best chips EVER MADE you ignorant moron. I am a friggin computer technician for a living. Do you even know what the technologies are between the different chips? Do you even know what an instruction set is?The Q6600 running at 3.6GHZ DESTROYS the E6750 and the 6000+ COMBINED!-Literally. 4 Cores running in Parallel not only has better Future Proofing- but performance that Dual Cores just can't touch.
@dwt66 What are you talking about? What takes more than a good chip? Just to show how unbased on truth this video truly is, Im gonna make a video of my Q6600 at stock clocks boot from shut down to the desktop and post it as a video Response.
@illmagnified he is a dumb ass and his test is totally flawd it dose not even prove anything also the speed of your boot up can depend a lot on your motherboard also. i used to have the q6600 and it pawned never took me that long to boot up either this video is BS
Pentium Dual core E6300 @2.8Ghz stock. According to benchmarks performs same as E6750 and is very cheap like $70. Nobody wants a hot sweaty AMD there poor overclockers and emit to much heat.
Erm...no duh the AMD will win. It's a 3.2GHz, the Q6600 is a 2.4GHz. The beginning of your vid says they're not overclocking, and you're testing single-threaded apps. Therefore, it comes down to clockspeed.
Amd is better for playing ...intel is better for laptops..the speed no only depends how much cpu frq. you have..depends a hole lot og things like...Buffer/Band wide/Sata cables/DUST/heat/motherboard/graphic gard/memory frq./FSB(front side bus)..

RAM and Motherboard specs would make a difference. I have owned both CPU's and in a fair fight the Q6600 would beat 6400+, and I am an AMD fan so don't cry that I'm an intel junkie.
HonkeyMofoJr2 2 years ago 3
This testing sucks because they are done on completely different systems. If you visit Tomshardware CPU charts (or any other website), the Q6600 is generally way ahead.

Intel always fails cuz they earn their money in an illegal way.
AMD earns their money fair, and by hard work.

madzane94 2 years ago
Can you say that about Pentium 4's or D's. Ummm, NO. Now AMD has the Athlon II X2 and Athlon II X4, And the new X4's are under $100. Intel do you have a QUADCORE for under $100. Didn't think so. The main reason why AMD holds back is MONEY. Intel have it and AMD doesn't. But AMD is far from done. They dominate the market as far as price per performance. And like this video states "Real World Test". That Q6600 was way too expensive win it came out., And when it was affordable, it was outdated.
csy30076 2 years ago
1. The Q6600 was better value for money and faster than the first generation Phenom series. Not only that, but it overclocked far better and used less power.
2. The Q6600 G0 revision had fantastic value for money.
NNNNG1 2 years ago 2
The <$100 AMD Quad Cores are slower than the dated Q6600. It's really no wonder why they're so cheap.
NNNNG1 2 years ago 2

Xbox 360 only time we have had problems is when my brother dropped it :S
grandmastgarth 2 years ago
1.Both the PS3 and Xbox360 use IBM CPUs.
2. PS3 has Nvidia graphics, Xbox360 has ATi graphics. ATi is a subsidiary of AMD.

Fucking idiotic illiterate uploader.
aaronmonto 2 years ago
these tasks dont really use the cpu you only open /close them the HDD must do the most the cpu doesnt do much while you are doing this. so i think this test isnt 100% reliable ftl. and the clock speed of the 6400+ is higher then the Q6600 whilest most tasks are only single threaded the 6400+ has the advantage

The intel Core 2 Quad isn't really for games. Intel Core 2 Duo owns AMD ATHLON X3 !!
zhatswallace 2 years ago
AMD wins in gaming easy over Core2 duo and quad. The Phenom's is VERY fast indeed in gaming applications.
hohaii 2 years ago 2
At high frequencies, yes... at the same frequency as the i7 or 12mb C2Q's, not even close. And I hope you're talking about Phenom II's, because 65nm Phenom's suck horribly.

Mydadsdog 2 years ago

FoAMDFun 2 years ago

786arslan 2 years ago
955 = 3.2Ghz and its Black edition and YOU WILL NEED AM3 MOTHERBOAD
940 = 3Ghz and work with AM2+ (and AM3, depends which motherboard you have)
Nobzu 2 years ago
You're wrong.
940 = AM2+ only
955 = AM2+ and AM3
Gw2Archon 2 years ago
They both support 2+ and 3.
USZ71 2 years ago
USZ71, did you even bother to look it up before contradicting me?
The Phenom II X4 940 won't even fit the AM3 (938) socket because it has 940 physical pins! For AM2+ (940) ONLY.
And, of course, it also lacks the DDR3 IMC.
920/940 (940 pins) = AM2+
945/955/965 (938 pins) = AM2+/AM3
Gw2Archon 2 years ago
what i was talking about is that is it worth spending more money on 955 when i cn overclock 940 so you tell me which one to buy and i am getting the BIOSTAR TA77E motherboard and it says that it supports am2+ and is am3 ready so i cn get any on my choice i checked on google as well and it does support both
786arslan 2 years ago
I'd get the 940 for the BIOSTAR TA77E since 200MHz isn't worth £30 and they're both BE.
@Nobzu:
Well, then your reseller should get the facts right before giving out false information.
What I just said about the compatibility of the two CPUs is 100% correct. You can look it up with any reliable source on the internet.
940 is NOT for AM3 (DDR3) motherboards, only AM2+ (DDR2)
955 on the other hand will work on both AM2+ (DDR2) and AM3 (DDR3).
Gw2Archon 2 years ago
were these fresh Vista install, because hard drive fragmentation would make a difference

Erm...no duh the AMD will win. It's a 3.2GHz, the Q6600 is a 2.4GHz. The beginning of your vid says they're not overclocking, and you're testing single-threaded apps. Therefore, it comes down to clockspeed.
