THis song, you know, came out the same time as SUICIDAL TENDENCIES 'INSTITUTIONALISED' and i alwaYS loved them as one continuation of the youth triumvant of the day. I kept forgetting who did TEEN LOVE but now, thanx to steven howard of Asheville FM, here it is, forever ever after!!!
@whydoyouwant2know - True Sounds Of Liberty? Wow, I totally forgot about that band. They kinda turned a litlle bit rock 'n roll in the late 80's. I still liked them though.
Yessssssssssss!I found this damn song after all this time!I just googled....a mini cam report described them as fine youngsters..............and I found it.It has been since 1987 since I heard this......yahoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The video deserves a lot of credit for heightening the mood. Those washes that slowly reveal faces & forms are very fitting. 'Faster Pussycat...' was a nice touch.
So happy to see clear dedication to the band. No one liked ever liked 'em that I've known.
Yup, your right! I remember that now that you said something. I have tons of old stuff like this on tape but It's hard to remember anything after smokin all that.... You know what I'm talkin about, hehehe.
This is way too fast - except the actual fast part is the right speed. I like the EP version the best - the '12' from 1984 with "Die", "Mass Sterilization, etc.
It's not just the speed, it's everything. The 12" version is better in every way. I'd kill to get an mp3 of that version. Sooooo much better than this.
I just checked and you have two versions of Teen Love posted. But neither is the good version from the 12 inch. Sigh, disappointed again. Thanks for at least trying though, I guess...
No Trend hated everyone! They were D.C.'s answer to Flipper! They were all about population control/suicide and hated the D.C. scene they were in. Pretty impressive at that time!!!
For the record, this is the version which appears on the LP "When Death Won't Solve Your Problem", on (Lydia Lunch's) Widowspeak records, released in 1985.
Global is right about about the year--1983. It's on an lp-sized record with absolutely no information on the record or the cover other than the band's name, an incredible drawing of a five-person family and some crazy writings on the back of the cover. Luckily the year is on the front of the cover, too.
The lp "Too Many Humans..." gave us a lyric sheet but no year. Had always thought that one preceded "Teen Anthem" but = who know?
i think you are right it is my mind that has that hazy shiite..i remember being like 15 when this came out..still lookin for it to download...any suggestions?
its been awhile...from what i remember they had 2 eps with identical songs, just different versions -- the first was a 7-inch and had the definitive version -- the second ep was a 12-inch and was more 'produced'......i honestly don't know which version this is because everything sounds primitive in 2009.....y'know?
I respect most peoples opinion, but after looking at your profile and seeing that your only a 17 year old kid from Greece that tells Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters to get a haircut, I guess I can rule your comment obsolete.
due to his intelligence being at about the levelof the dried up semen stains on his mom's underwear however his name and vaginal discharge are now and forever synonymous
This was a STAPLE of WKDU radio from 1984-1985. WKDU is Drexel University in Philly. It was played so much we were sick of it.,just like Suicidal Tendencies song I saw your Mommy but I still love it, though.
this was one of the oedipus top 10 indie and import singles of 1984 - aired 12/31/84 on wbcn boston. the version i have was slightly different but it's the greatest song and what lyrics! and one of the main reasons i put an ion tape2pc machine for xmas this year. it was number 8, just ahead of echo and the bunnymen killing moon and just before an early ministry single.
No Trend put on an awesome show back in the mid 80's. I was privledged enough to see them with Power of the Spoken Word in Norman, Oklahoma summer 1984.
Why must this song have disabled embedding Smoking Stubs? I would think that sharing this awesome video with the world is a good idea. C'mon... pleeeeeeeeeease.
Search for Phoenix Hairpins's blog and you'll find links for almost everything except When Death Won't Solve Your Problem. Teen Love is from an EP and that album but there is also a link for early recordings.
You cant! This song is long time gone. I think I got this album back in 1985, and I didnt actually get the album, I recorded it from a friend. The friend is also gone (RIP)...
If you can find a recording of the whole album, please let me know. Id love to hear it again.
This band is easily in my top 10 favorites. It's too bad that they aren't recognized for what they did musically but then again I'm kind of glad for that because it would make their records cost 10x more than they already do.
Hmmmmm...."Amazingly" I have it called "Teen Love" on "When death wont solve your problems" on "Teenlove 12 inch" on "Early months".... to name a few ..:)
BTW it's one of my all time fav's as you might have guessed :)
Eeeh..,I was quoting some1. I said there is no such thing as "Teen Anthem" Not in their early works..,nowhere.And indeed Teen love is also on "To Many Humans". "Early Months" is yet another album where it is on.And all are different versions.BTW My fav is the one from "When Death Wont Solve your problems".For me that is their best album as well.
Pretty sure I've seen a video of them doing this in a TV studio. Guitarist from this line up killed himself I think. No Trend's large presence in the DC scene has since been downplayed in the histories.
Thats too bad. From what I heard, Frank Price and Greg Miller, the guitarist and the drummer, both died back in the 80's. I never heard anything about how they died. They were a cool band.
Yup, your right! I remember that now that you said something. I have tons of old stuff like this on tape but It's hard to remember anything after smokin all that.... You know what I'm talkin about, hehehe.
