So many things wrong with this. First, Hagar is singing. Puke. Too slow. They sound drunk. It's also not tuned down half step. It's missing the low sinister sound that Fair Warning has. Ed is playing through his "I want to sound like Steve Lukather over chorused Bradshaw" mess. Van Hagar FTL.
It is too slow, but I think if Sammy had made more effort to sing DLR era songs then Van Hagar wouldn't have alienated as many fans. I could be wrong, but I think it would have helped. I love Ed's guitar sound here.
In my opinion, Sammy does a better job singing live than Diamond Dave. Sammy doesn't forget words, or skip words, or skip entire lines. That a good thing. Unfortunately, he does not have the stage presence of Dave, he doesn't have the charisma of Dave, he doesn't have the larger than life crazy antics of Dave on stage. That's a bad thing.
DLR is a way better performer live, not a better vocalist live.

The video came from "Live, Right Here, Right Now" with a bootleg from another show recorded over it. Probably from the '04 tour. If you look closely it is like watching a japanese kung fu video with guitars.
You can tell Sam doesn't put a whole lot of enthusiasm into this one. He has said in interviews that he can't get into singing Dave's stuff because he didn't write it. The tempo dragged too, so it wasn't all Sammy. The original is better. Interesting to hear the difference between the Dave and Sammy versions though...thanks.
Sammy ruins these songs because he has noi personality in his voice. He just screeches into the mic all night.

Definitely not DLR, it's not the right audio for the vid agreed, but there are 3 BIG clues that it's Hagar:
1. 1:21 distinctive Hagar vocal
2. Right at the end there's clearly 2 guitars - there was only ever 2 guitars when Hagar was in the band.
3. It sucks.

Unfortunately, he does not have the stage presence of Dave, he doesn't have the charisma of Dave, he doesn't have the larger than life crazy antics of Dave on stage. That's a bad thing.
DLR is a way better performer live, not a better vocalist live.

The audio may be "Unchained" but the video comes from the two night Fresno show in 1993 and it's "The Dream Is Over". This video is just an overdub, audio onto video.

The audio is from 1993, the first year they played said song with Hagar.
It can be distinguished as 1993 because the song is played half a step higher than normal, the last year they played in standard tuning with Hagar.
The video clip is from the Live: Right Here Right Now DVD and said video clip is from the song The Dream Is Over.

The video came from "Live, Right Here, Right Now" with a bootleg from another show recorded over it. Probably from the '04 tour. If you look closely it is like watching a japanese kung fu video with guitars.

You can tell Sam doesn't put a whole lot of enthusiasm into this one. He has said in interviews that he can't get into singing Dave's stuff because he didn't write it. The tempo dragged too, so it wasn't all Sammy. The original is better. Interesting to hear the difference between the Dave and Sammy versions though...thanks.
