@TheSicklish ...I'm afraid I don't follow. I spun rifle on my high school marching band color guard. Unless you mean the fact that I combined it into one word... I don't get the confusion. lol
@staticxstarlite because you arent guarding anything i do color guard in my school but we do parades as the 2 people holding the national and state flag aka the colors and two people with rifles guarding the flags i dont understand why it would be called color guard when there isnt guarding involved
@TheSicklish Ah, I understand. The color guard you're speaking of is the closer of the two to the original military term. I know what you're talking about. Basically, in a marching band that plays shows on a field, there is another visual element which is called the color guard, which spins flag, rifle, and sabre, among other things. It's a sort of auxiliary unit. Like dance theater with props. It often adds to the story-telling aspect of a marching show.
@TheSicklish I didn't come up with the name for the sport, but my guess is that it was derived from the military colorguard because of the equipment used. In simpler shows, there are simpler movements similar to presenting arms in parade. Or like what would be done alongside a bugle corps.
@FmAFrEaK1000 Whatever helps you sleep at night. This video is over a year old, "Miss Eleven-Year-Old". My form is a bit different now, and I come from a place where we don't HAVE marching bands for sixth graders. When I recorded this video, I had been spinning for less than two years, and rifle for much less than that. Also, I would just like to point out that when I was your age, I had MUCH better grammar and punctuation than you. Good day.
@FmAFrEaK1000 Also, I'm sure your trolling little self feels powerful behind that computer keyboard. I certainly was not the best on the rifle line, but this was work I had just written five minutes before recording, which if you write your own work, I'M SURE YOU KNOW that it looks different than when you've been practicing a routine. I was the PROUD captain of the Park View Marching Patriots Color Guard, so I'm sure you can relate. Now go cry to mommy that she doesn't spend enough money on you.
@FmAFrEaK1000 Wooow way to try to make yourself seem cool. This was pretty good considering she hadn't been spinning rifle for very long. Being captain you should probably be able to have a little more maturity and respect for other people
@FmAFrEaK1000 Learn how to use proper English. Air blade, rifle, and saxophone cannot be used as verbs. Leave the girl alone. She's doing something she loves. You have a lot to learn about colorguard... it's called constructive criticism. Learn to be a person with a heart. YOU suck. Grow up.
@FmAFrEaK1000 wat a bitch. IDK what you say, there arent any "11 year olds" that are good enough to talk smack about Color Guard. Constructive Criticism is one thing, but being cunty gets you no where. kthnx!
this sounds weird but panti-liners work really good on each end to give it a little padding! I learned from an old instructor! We also put tampons in the bolt to keep it from clanking if it is to hit the ground...weird but it all works.
@meganthedork94 I have a new rifle and i have never taped one before, can you maybe give me some tips? I want to tape it like purple or blue or something cool!
@scorpiojordy (1/2) Okay, well, first you're going to need some cotton pads and strapping tape- that kind that's either clear or brownish and has strings running through it. Remove all your hardware- screws, straps, etc.- and tape just a bit of cotton to the butt and to the nose, so that it has some cushion. Then wrap the rifle's major stress points with the strapping tape- the neck, the nose, the butt, and anywhere there are screws- but don't wrap too much or you'll have a heavy rifle.
@scorpiojordy (2/2) Then wrap your entire rifle in whatever color tape you want. I suggest going to your local hardware store and buying vinyl electrical tape- that's really all rifle tape is. Once your rifle has been taped all the way down (try not to overlap layers of tape, or it'll get heavy), then you can put the hardware back on. Tape over screws, and put a strip of tape over each screw on the barrel, sort of like taping the barrel to the rifle. It's easier than it sounds, I promise. :)
the only mistake i saw was in your tosses. you should learn to catch at the nose. The first two tosses u did your hands were like a fist away from the nose. Just work on that and your skills would be pretty good!=D
@bandnerd883 Thank you! I'm really out of practice now, but my ability to catch at the nose IS improving. When I first learned rifle, I didn't learn the exact correct form, so I'm retraining myself to do it cleanly. xD
@meganthedork94 This was last year, when I was a senior in high school. It was only my second year in guard, though. I wasn't fantastic on rifle, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.
can i ask a question why do u call it colorguard

@sykes216 It's my personal rifle I bought for my own practice purposes. And I thought the red tape looked sharp, so I taped it red! :)

Keep spinning, you're very good =)
