@AMANJOTROCKS He could be a 50 goal scorer, its his unwillingness to backcheck and dig into the corners in the offensive zone that always frustrated me about his play in boston. Thats not even mentioning his office Attitude and behavior. I mean there's a reason we sent him up to you guys for draft picks.
@Crazymike00 He's paid to score and that's what he does. Some of the most elite players (in terms of goal scoring) have horrid defensive capabilities. He isn't a great defensive player, but his backcheck improved x200 last season compared to previous seasons. Reasons why you sent us Kessel: the price was right and at the time your team in general was getting old (they were looking towards the future). The changes Boston have made over the last 2 years really made them a younger and better team.
@AMANJOTROCKS I see your point, and i guess maybe that kind of mentality of showmanship over a bluecollar mindset flys up in Toronto. Its like when the Bruins let go Blake Wheeler, its very simple, if your not willing to play tough hockey you wont last down here.
@Crazymike00 I agree, but every team has their own strength/things they look for in a player. For teams like Boston, Philly, NYR etc it's a combination of skill and grit. For teams like Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, it's more about speed and skill. Burke usually wants grit in there as well, but if you have 2/3 of the qualities that your GM wants, you can't be upset.

@AMANJOTROCKS He could be a 50 goal scorer, its his unwillingness to backcheck and dig into the corners in the offensive zone that always frustrated me about his play in boston. Thats not even mentioning his office Attitude and behavior. I mean there's a reason we sent him up to you guys for draft picks.

@Crazymike00 He's paid to score and that's what he does. Some of the most elite players (in terms of goal scoring) have horrid defensive capabilities. He isn't a great defensive player, but his backcheck improved x200 last season compared to previous seasons. Reasons why you sent us Kessel: the price was right and at the time your team in general was getting old (they were looking towards the future). The changes Boston have made over the last 2 years really made them a younger and better team.

@Crazymike00 I agree, but every team has their own strength/things they look for in a player. For teams like Boston, Philly, NYR etc it's a combination of skill and grit. For teams like Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, it's more about speed and skill. Burke usually wants grit in there as well, but if you have 2/3 of the qualities that your GM wants, you can't be upset.
It's good to talk to a sane non-Leaf fan once in a while. Thanks for the comments.

no matter who you are, before you can become great, you have to have a few years of rocky waters. Look at all the good teams right now. Before you get good, you have to be bad. That's what the leafs have been going through, and I believe that at the end of last year we started to see what our team was becoming, and i think this year will only expand on that.

e Leafs finally have a young core of players, Kessel, Schenn,Aulie,Franson,Gunnarsson,Kulemin,Kadri,Reimer etc with tons of prospects with talent and potential that was never here when JFJ was in charge, guys like Frattin,Gardiner,Colborne,Percy,Biggs,Blacker and so on, future is bright in Leaf Land, Burke has 100% overhauled this team since 08, only guys remaining from that team is Schenn,Kulemin and Graboovski. The Leafs are no longer giving up picks for old past their prime guys.
