  • 2013 4cyl: 275hp and V6: 350hp

  • i-4 turbo uses premium fuel and the V-6 reg fuel when others use reg fuel in some of their turbos now hmmm.. But I'd still buy it.. Top speed for the 4cyl is 140mph and the V-6 is 152mph

  • I didnt like this guy cause he did a review on the civic SI and was a total fanboy through out the whole review and even compared the sound while in Vtec, to a ferrari.... but he did a really good job on THIS review.

  • the facelifted 2012 genesis looks even better. hopefully they will give it a 5.0 v8 engine from the genesis sedan. that would be a serious sports car.

  • Nice ride, but dude needs to button up one more button on his shirt no one wants to see all that glistening chest hair hahaha

  • Button up that shirt !

  • For all the mustangs haters. The mustang is faster, corners better with a .95g skidpad, more dependable, sounds better, the interior is better on the stang.

The mustang is just overall the best performance you can buy for the money at this time.

  • @GenSparks The Mustang is a dime a dozen. Parked everywhere ... No thanks.

  • @Gwegqwet HAHAHAHAHHAHA OMG I had a really big laugh reading this... lol... Not that i'm against mustangs or anything like that, but I've just never heard such a catchy phrase before... hehe.. (: Nice One!!!

  • @GenSparks

the mustang is like a tampon every pussy has one.

  • @GenSparks LOL honesty the only thing I'm looking forward to from ford this year is the new Focus ST

  • @GenSparks really now? Well lets compare the V6 Mustang to the '13 Genesis coupe then.

    Mustang V6: 305hp '13 Genesis coupe V6: 348hp

    Mustang V6 0-60: 5.4 '13 Genesis coupe V6 0-60: 5.1

Top speed for the Mustang V6: 113mph Genesis coupe top speed: 146mph

With the Mustang, you get what you pay for. Even the a base model Nissan 370Z would destroy a V6 Mustang,ha!

Mustang is a good car but only when it has a V8!

  • Is the car really that big or is Ross really that short?

  • @jpersing2007 both? lol

  • @jpersing2007 It's comparable to the Mustang in size . I have one

  • @jpersing2007 he is really small hehehe

  • @jpersing2007 how tall is he lol

  • Best performances for money.

  • Errrr ... he forgot to say this car has independent suspensions all over, unlike the stone age ones in the Mustang and its sisters.

In other words, unlike muscle cars, this can corner. I have the 3.8L Track, and it sure can.

  • @Medifro While a solid rear axel is generally considered antiquated technology, it isn't without its advantages. While it does create the tendency to upset the balance mid-corner, a SRA is far superior to an IRA at putting down power exiting a corner.

It's that characteristic that makes the Boss Mustang so fast around Laguna Seca, a track known for its high-speed sweeping bends. While IRS is more comfortable and stable through the corners, it isn't superior in all aspects.

  • @marshknute Thats a great piece of info, thanks for sharing it.

  • i wanna see the interior

  • I myself have own a 2011 genesis coupe 2.0t the interior was remade compared to the 2010 an everyone turns there heads doesn't matter if Its a Hyundai dam good car, they still got many years to develop this car pretty soon this car is going to be the face of the tuner Scene

  • @TheS13freak

lol turns heads? Typical ugly fag who thinks that a car can land him some bitches HAHAHAHA try buying a handsome face you loser

  • @umadbrow funny a typical guy will talk on the internet what a loser get a life bro really.

  • @TheS13freak

hahahaha have you bought a handsome face yet? rather then spending your shitty money on a hyunGAY just get a plactic surgery you faggot

  • It has a somewhat side profile of a g37 but the genesis coupe has more aggressive body style an g37 is more of a lux car so it not in the same class plus a g37 or just Infinti has a z motor but not the same internals because it more of an american car, so the genesis would be side by side with the camaro,z,mustang etc an it the cheapest out the bunch an to me a better buy

  • it is absolotly a copy of infiniti G37

  • @barbarshater Except the G37 is better in pretty much every way.

  • lol burn notice made me want this car. fiona is awesome

  • I have a 2011 3.8 Track (which is the sportiest Genesis Coupe, not this one). It actually has the 6 speed ZF auto - transmission (Same thing that Land Rover uses) which is statistically faster than the manual edition. I agree, the motor is missing some refinement and could use more power... feels a little watered down for 306hp. This car is far more extreme (in handling and ride quality) Than a G37, but people compare it because they are both 2+2.

  • @Alpinestar217 no r-spec is more sportier i have it, track is more suited for the people looking for luxury. it shouldnt even be called the track the r-spec should be the track.

  • Are you serious, this Hyundai Excel Tiburon R-Spec is on enthusiasts radar and you don't know what gear it's in..lol?

  • mustang suck

  • not bad for a hyundai but im still prefer other cars

  • @00Hellz00 You should google it to be sure... but I think like most sporty V6's, it can take regular but recommends premium for better performance and economy.

  • im not much of a hyundai fan... but i must say well done hyundai.they have come along way and there getting competitive. i owned the hyundai xg350L i had it for not even 2 months and traded it in just because it was a hyundai, i had buyers remorse

  • Its a wanna be g37. Hyundai has nothing on them. They just copy, its all tht their good at. They dont engineer or have years of racing heritage. Its like a rapper, it may have the clothes and money but it still sucks at what its supposed to do.

  • @homeboyskilletfresh Or Like a Toyota that tried to be a Mercedes. Yes. Toyota is Lexus, and Nissan is Infiniti. And those companies pulled the same trick. I would not discount Hyundai so quickly. They are moving up the food chain faster than you think. At least that's what my stocks show. Have a good one.

  • @homeboyskilletfresh Too bad the G37 is $10,000 + more than the R-Spec. Put that 10k into the R-Spec and any level of the G37 will be left in the dust. Not to mention the G37 looks like trash and is a glorified 370z.

  • @Elerokos ok tht dosent answer my ? at all. How come the car looks like the g37??? Buddy its a HYUNDAI!!!! nothing to brag about. the G37 is a 3.7l engine. Did u forget tht nissan has been making sports cars before u were propably born?? hyundai has just come out. YES u can throw 10k into it but u still wont have tht luxury or class tht the g has. they genesis isnt a bad buy, it just isnt anything special. They just put out a performance car, and an i4 turbo. where were they a decade ago???

  • the car looks huge compared to him

  • If I had a dollar for every time I wanted to kill an American car reviewer for saying "its not about that" id have a million dollars.

  • i work @ 4 a hyundai dealership here in america and we have 3 instock now but we don't call it the R-spec we call it the 3.8 track. and they all have nav back up cams procsimity keys and six speed automatics wirh flappy paddles

  • @THEARMEDLIFE The R-Spec is different to the 3.8 Track.

  • @LumpiaProductions he's wrong

  • @tepeke88 its about the feel not if it breaks or not.

  • BRING BACK CHARLIE

  • Is this car automatic or manual ?

  • @denntheidiot both

  • Good review , The genesis coupe is indeed a very nice car .

  • Hyundai and Kia are killing the game right now!

I have always like Japanese cars but these 2 companies were smart in the way in which they offer the same great reliability and value of Asian carmarkers but managed to avoid falling into the (bitch-assed) styling black hole that has plagues many of the Asian manufacturers as of late.

There are simply not many Asian vehicles (apart from Nisssan) that I as a heterosexual and moderately masculine man would purchase today - simple.

  • @awhodatt i think hyundai is korean...

  • @kev90y Lol! Yes it is Korean and I am fully aware of this fact - however, you may have noticed that I expanded my post to "Asian" car makers .. not strictly Japanese.

  • hahah....very spirited local driving.

  • All, the handling is very good. It gets better as you go faster, and more stable as well. Which is good because at low speeds this car's steering and turn-in is just INSANELY quick.

  • im getting one for sure!

  • My question is did Hyundai reproduce some of the handling magic found in cars like the Honda S2000 or the Mazda Miata?

  • Hey Ross, How does the Genesis R-spec compare to your Si?

I know RWD cars are supposed to be better handlers than FWD cars?

  • @judah777 Genesis coupe vs Civic ??? give me a brake....

  • Comment removed

  • Nice ripoff of the Infiniti G35. Just like Hyundai rips off Mercedes, Jaguar, Honda, Toyota, Nissan...

  • @XelaXor hyundai didnt rip off nissan jaguar infiniti or even mercedes. thats just your opinion

  • @pattycarljackson dstop acting like a little kid and cursing grow up and act like an adult. elantra nothing like the camry. the genesis and infiniti okay look a little similar but find 2 more cars that resemble that infiniti and you will find cars that look like it. santa fe nothing like the honda. sonata similar style. 2008 subaru impreza hondacivic hatchback resemblance there as well. or honda crz and toyota prius an or back end style of honda civic. my bad thoes are resemblances of each other

  • That is a small man. The car looks like a train next to this guy.

  • My have car

  • The gap between gears is gate. Cogs = gears. Over all decent presentation but what did you really tell me that I couldn't get from reading the specs? No solid driving impressions, like how's the weight of the steering does it feel direct? Pedal placement? Can you heel and toe the car? Can you heel and toe period? Hows the ballance? Harshness? Cabin or wind noise? Bring some personality to the review tell viewers what's good and bad about a car beyond a bitabout the radio.

  • @ckeister74 I was expecting more too, like the cargo space and noiseness as you said, fuel consumption...

  • @ckeister74--Good questions and TBH I was a little disappointed in my effort for this car. Yes, you can heel-toe, once you figure out the 3-2 downshift (it will take some time).

I talked about the radio because it was really frustrating. The steering is nicely weighted--at low speeds the car feels almost jumpy, the steering and turn-in are astoundingly quick. But it gets less jumpy as the speeds go up, and if I could pick the car's greatest strength, it would be that. Powertrain lags behind.

  • @ckeister74--also, when you ask "Can you heel/toe period," I assume you asking me if I am personally capable of doing it? The answer is yes, and I do it about 50 times every time I get in my car, a 2009 Civic Si sedan w/the best pedal placement I have ever seen. :)

I have done about 20-30 trackdays in my old ITR so I am not a complete n00b, so when I say I'd like to test a car on the track, I'm not just blowing smoke. I am most familiar with Summit Point main course, Jefferson Circuit, & VIR.

  • @ckeister74 I agree, all great points

  • It does have a nice engine sound. I like this car!

  • I test drove a 3.8 auto and i felt it made more sound than it was going.... also the auto wasnt great... maybe im used to faster cars....

  • can not understand; this is a good car yes, but i cant see myself choosing it over a mustang or camaro

  • @whiteandnerdytuba your comment is a little off. this car is a thousand percent differnet then a camaro or mustang. for one thoes cars have been out for years this car is new so its actually faster then the first one that came out the more hyundai works on their cars and gets better itll be faster and hopefully a lot more sportier but this car compared to thoes two are that its smaller lighter and easier to manover yeah might not be as fast but it needs work jus like bmw and audi had to do

  • @whiteandnerdytuba Just bought this car last week. 10 yr 100,000 miles bumper to bumper . Try getting that with a Mustang or Camaro. It will eat up the V6 Mustang or Camaro. 149 mph top end. It's a great buy.

  • @rickyt43515 "The Camaro went 174.4 MPH and the Shelby did 184.7 MPH" your car cant beat either at the top end

  • Ross you do the best reviews. Thanks!

  • Thank you, Ross, we really appreciate your reviews! Regards from Lithuania.

  • Hey Ross :-) A friend of a friend chiming in here... I have the R-Spec 2.0T that looks EXACTLY like the car in the test and I have to tell you it is one sweet ride on the track. After years and years of front wheel drive I am still getting used to a rear wheel drive car. You have no idea how hard it is to unlearn stomping on the gas to recover from a potential spin! :-) Anyhow it'[s a ball to drive at an SCCA PDX. Go try it!

  • I checked the Hyundai web site... you can get the 'Track' model with the 6spd ZF trans...would love to see that test, IF that one was available with sat-nav etc. I could not tell from the site just what options were available....the packages are not clearly defined at all.

  • VERY COOL HYUNDAI COUPE IT IS PRETTY FAST I WONDER IF THE 370Z IS THE SAME EQUAL POWER I'M SURE

  • ew button up your shirt

  • its a shame they dont offer the 274hp sonata turbo engine in the Genesis, it would be a great between the 210hp 2.0t and the 3.8 V6 , well the sonata turbo engine should just be standard in it in the first place :)

  • UUUGGLLYYY!

  • nice chest hair keep it up

  • Hyundai is bringing the heat

  • i thought the big engine was a 4.6 V8

  • @bartmatton

thats only in the sedan :(

  • I liked this car a lot. However you can definitely tell it's a notch or two below your average Japanese or American car in terms of refinement.

Confusing tranny cogs aside, this car is a blast to drive. Totally different animal than the sedan, too.

Thanks for the nice comments as always, guys!

    -Ross

  • I think Hyundai and Ford offering track packages on their rwd coupes is a brilliant idea.

I hope Chevy and Dodge does the same.....

  • Well done Ross. It looks like a nice ride for not alot of cash...something very hard to find in the market today.

  • I bet SaabKyle04 must like this video...

  • Poor Ross is getting shorter plus losing his hair. :(

  • @NadrianATRS he's losing his hair to his chest..lol.

  • starting to look dated...needs a refresh

  • @davewhodavedunn the refresh is for the genesis coupe is coming late next year as a 2013 model, hyundai updates their cars every 3 years.

  • @davewhodavedunn car barely came out in 2009

  • ross is the best!

  • Whoaaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaa? I need to get this car.

  • great as always

  • It was cool to see and hear you guys drive the test car hard on film. More of this please. Also, please give 1/4 mile times is possible.

    Ross, great review as usual.

  • I have always liked this car and it looks great. But I think it would look much better with a bigger grill, that one just seems to look like puckered lips to me

  • much better than the recently reviewed Mazda RX-8. Absolutely better value for money.

  • great car at a awsome value !

  • Yes, but will it blend?

  • @gatt619 HAHAHAHAHA!

  • Man if this was a Honda it would be selling thousands a month, but because its still rocking that Hyundai badge ppl are scared of it. I think its dead sexy, test drove the 3.8 track one and though it was a nice ride but in the end wasnt quite for me. Really Hope hyundai keeps them around! Hope they dont kill it due to low sales.

  • This guy needs new shoes :p

  • I may be nuts, but i would prefer the sedan.

  • @Barobran92 I'd love a sedan with the track package and manual transmission, even the 2.0T engine from the Sonata!

  • Do a test on the nissan altima coupe.

  • Didnt Jessi Lang already review this car like a year ago?

  • @lilPhil15 Yeah, Jessi had the touring but we didn't produce a very good video of it because we had the car during a snow storm. The R-Spec is a very different, track oriented car though so it made sense to review it separately.

    -Charlie@RoadflyTV

  • @roadflytv okay. thanks charlie.

  • @roadflytv What happened to Jessi?

  • Jessi Lang was just so naturally better at this job......... Dear Road Fly TV, please bring Jessi Lange back!

  • i love this dude. hes like everybodys dorky lil friend who got to borrow his dads whip lol

  • Too bad Hyundai eliminated the 2.0T Track model (R-spec performance bits but with some more features like the sunroof)

  • front end needs a refresh and the 2.0T needs the sonata's engine. otherwise its OK in the current market

  • Does the VW Polo go to North America, if it does could you do a review?

  • @TheNick92UK no we do not get the Polo

  • @bottomlayer Thats a shame, i've got a 2011 VW polo and it's perfect :)

  • Nice chest hair Ross

  • There is not many cars that are that fast, standard with BREMBOS, and rear wheel drive for that price! Super deal!

  • @ILikeReallyBigButts there's not *any* car that fast, standard Brembos, and RWD for that price... except the same car equipped with a turbo four!

  • Ross's chest hairs reviewed this car!

  • Cheap g37...

  • car is starting to look dated compared to other Hyundais

  • Not a Muscle Car lover, but i'd rather choose a Mustang or Camaro, because they have some history .

  • The only Hyundai I'd be interested in owning. But for some reason, I think I'd rather have a 2011 Mustang V6 over this.

  • Does this version get the HID headlights ?

  • @judah777 I don't see it listed on the Monroney label so I guess not.

    -Charlie@Roadfly

  • @judah777 (Part 1) To reduce cost and weight, the 2.0T and 3.8 R-Spec models don't include automatic headlights, Xenon HID headlights, Navigation system with 6.5" touchscreen & XM NavTraffic® (90-day trial), cruise control, Leather seating surfaces with Power Driver Seat & Heated front seats, rear spoiler, the upgraded sound system (600-watt Infinity® AM/FM/XM®/CD/MP3 audio system with 10 speakers), Automatic temperature control, Electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass.

  • @judah777 (Part 2) HomeLink® integrated transceiver, Heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators, Power tilt-and-slide glass sunroof, Metalgrain and chrome interior accents, Backup warning system, Chrome front fascia accents, Aluminum pedals, Aero wiper blades or Premium door sill plates , but the base MSRP is $26,750. This model includes the R-Spec badge, Track-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, Torsen limited-slip differential and front camber adjustment bolts (needs to be installed).

  • @judah777 (Part 3) It's the crappiest Genesis one can get, in my opinion. I'd go for the 3.8 Base ,3.8 Track or 3.8 Grand Touring.

  • @judah777 I have a 3.8 R-spec and it does not come with HID headlights, sorry.

  • @judah777 yeah it does. Only the 2.0T model doesn't get HID.

  • @gtstarboi4lyf

thanks for the info; do you if Hyundai gave the 2011 models "soft-touch" dashboard materials?

    Thanks again!!

  • @judah777 Not sure about the dash but I don't think the dash would be any different in any of the Genesis models. The 2.0T thought gets standard leather wrapped steering wheel as do the other models.

  • @judah777 Yes they do. See the projector?

  • Thumbs up if you like Ross' cool new shirt! :-)

  • Maybe Ross will replace his civic with this car!

  • @TJC450 I did add the R-Spec Coupe to our Top 10 Favorites list. It's a heck of a car for the money. We'll get the Sedan R-Spec as soon as it's available to us. I think I'll start a thread at the RoadflyTV forum with the list of cars we're getting. Maybe you guys can make some suggestions over there too. That way we know what you guys want to see.

    -Charlie@Roadfly

  • @roadflytv I didn't know they were going to make a R spec sedan! Do we know what it looks like?

  • @roadflytv yea im trading my jag in for teh 3.8gt i hope, among other things the reliabilty will be a bonus.

Only problem is there so hard to find in my area

  • No Nav, sunroof, or cruise!

  • @talldude123 its a cheap car its all about the performance not tech stuff

  • @TJC450 True but even the Kia Forte Koup which is alot cheaper has Cruise and sunroof, Nav can be done without though.

  • @talldude123 yeah but does it have the performance and fun to drive factor like the R Spec?

  • @TJC450 haha nope you got that right. I'll admit I was in a Forte Koup yesterday, pretty sporty and quick, but not this quick. More people will buy the Genesis Coupe because Kia still doesn't have a good rep.

  • @talldude123 Kia should have a good rep. We own a Borrego and it is quite the SUV!!

  • @talldude123 For about $4000 more there's the 3.8 Track model, which does include those things plus the brembos

  • First!!!!!!!

  • @skunk1117 lol 10 seconds late!! :P
