  • wow.. i am there because of Avishai Cohen's arrangement

  • Fantástico! Saudações del TROPICASHER!!

  • @paolomarinemelilla: it is not a "miracle" it is an Ottoman reality

  • :O same song of in extremo xD yeah!! shalom!!!

  • Iberia was not Spain when this song was sung and Castilla lost a lot of the industrious people who had made Ferdinand and Isabella rulers of most of the pensinsula it had the effect of slowing the Iberian economy by some few hundred years. It has been said that Sultan Mehmed described the Iberian expulsion as his gain and Ferdinand and Isabella's loss

  • @adar5708 The term Hispania goes way back in history, so I wouldn't be so sure about that. Either way, the people are the same...

  • @eIectrostatic excuse me Electrostatic I said Iberia not Hispania .which were until 1492 divided into separate enclaves embracing Arabs in the kingdom of Grenada, Whereas Castilla Asturias Leon and Aragon were Christian and wanted control of the Iberian peninsula prompting the Reconquista (reconquest) which lasted about 700 years but thanks for the comment

  • @eIectrostatic Oh I forgot Portugal sorry folks

  • @adar5708 Everybody forgot portugal

  • Pleaseeeee, would someone write lyrics of this beautiful song ????

  • To the loser who signs as "vitokuloanaj" get the fuck out of this site. It's not for arab and murderer muzziesand their supporters. Askenazim and Sepharadim are extremely happy together building a strong Israel against the barbarians that want to exterminate them. Go get yourself fucked in the behind by your barbarian friends. You want succeed trying to initiate debate between Jews. We are all together against your stinky friends... By the way I'm half askenaze and half

    sepharade..

  • I wished Ashkinazis' would have the culture and the music and the peace of the saphardics! such a music, such a peace.. may the ladino speakers in palastine get stronger and stronger against ashkinazis, only those are the real believers in peace withen israel's

  • Beautyfull....unfortunaly almost all Sephardic Jews were wipped out by Nazis, yet their amazing sad and proud mysic remained for enternity.

  • "When the Jews Were expelled from Spain, the Country turned into Crap"

  • @cubanazo123 This is not simply true. They were expelled simply very early for that. The decline of Spain started in the late XVII

  • it is so emotional so beautiful to listen!

  • the sefardi people are the most heroic people to walk this earth . they are like the clumps of green that sprout along the western wall. and spain to it's shame was never the same and carries guilt and regret to this day

  • @pablick1 I agree, the expulsion was terrible, but it was 500 years ago.... No one country or people, no one, is pure and without guilty....I am from a region of Mexico (Nuevo León) founded mainly by sefardis. Our regional culture has many aspects influenced by them.....regrads.

  • This was really interesting for me. I know all the jewish people in my family history were Shephardi (Italian and Portuguese) But I'd never heard what their music sounded like or even what Ladino sounded like. Thanks for posting this :)

  • Touches my Sephardi heart, thanks for sharing, Shabbat Shalom!

  • WOWWWWW buena cancion :)

Mazalosos ke estesh i ke sigash dandomos mas kantigas komo esta.

  • Es casi igual al castellano

  • magnífico

  • Hermoso =)

  • its very much like Spanish, and they say many Jews converted to Christianity because of the inquisition so many Spanish have some Jewish blood, come back o our brothers ladinos.

  • Une chanson très belle, à mon avis.

A very beautiful song, in my opinion.

I'm learning French, yet I find that djudeo-espagnole (aka Ladino) sounds similar to French. This could essentially be "Spanish for Francophones". Thanks et merci très beaucoup to bingo1941 for uploading this. Which Abraham Ferrera recording is this from?

  • @Dan1988A like french? i'm spanish and despite a few words I understand everything...i just dont see the french similarities, if you could explain that :D

  • The similarities are somewhat obvious to me - there are sounds in djudeo-espagnole and certain idiosyncrasies in the grammar that remind me of French. If I were a native French speaker (of which I'm not) and if I were to learn Spanish, it would probably sound more like this. This would be even more the case if I were a native French speaker in Québec or l'Acadie. I can understand much of what he's singing, anyway.

  • @Dan1988A Well both Spanish and French are Latin, so is Ladino.

It´s a miracle they kept their mother language from Spain for 5 centuries...

  • Bravo!

  • That song kicks ass!

Ladino sounds really cool, I can't speak a lick of Hebrew but I'm Hispanic so picked up on some of it

    very pretty

  • I'm learning spanish. How close to spanish is Ladino. I don't speak Ladino by the way, but I've been told I speak with the accent.

  • I was able to pick up quite a few words and I don't even speak spanish fluently

you must be Sephardic or something ^^

  • I am a Moroccan Jew (Sepharadic).

I wish I knew Judeo-Arabic, but that is never used anymore. Ladino on the other hand is used in songs, and not so much socially

  • Ah, I see

    so sad :C

  • Yeah, well, most languages that aren't used socially are used in poems and songs now-days.

  • @3rdSamurai Actually many still speak Judeo-Arabic. And Ladino is many understood by Cubans, and Puerto Ricans since their spanish is highly influenced by Ladino, and Ladino is very good language to learn since it is very close and older than modern classical Spanish.

    I am also Sephardic.

  • Who still speaks Judeo-Arabic?

  • @3rdSamurai Most moroccans, many Tunisian Jews, most Jews from Arab countries.

  • I did the research today. Most of the older generation speaks it. It's an endangered language unfortunately. I think it should be revived in Israel, just for the sake of culture.

  • @3rdSamurai it's in danger but only in terms of use...but there is literature in ladino here in Spain and other places...so it wont be fully lost. It needs to be spoken more and more but modern communities have turkish, greek and arabic influences...so we can speak about modern ladino and old ladino kept in books in spanish libraries. i call for unification in order to get a purest and universal version...

  • where could one find some text written in that beautiful Ladino?

  • Que belleza. Gracias. Dios bendiga a Israel.

Shalom Israel!

  • Significa "padre nuestro"

  • avinu = padre nuestro

  • It' s very beautiful, but cut at the end!

  • Yes! It is sad that it is cut like that. What a beautiful and moving song...Mersi, bingo 1941.

Shalom Israel.

  • Eya ya sabia el biyien ke tenia

  • beautiful..!!!,

    *-: toda natali..

  • padre bendicho sounds to me which is "bendito" in modern castellano just as you wrote.

  • Avram Avinu, Padre kerido

    Abraham our father, beloved father

    Padre bendito, Luz de Israel

    Blessed father, Light of Israel

La mujer de Terakh kedo prenyiada

    Terakh's wife became pregnant

I de dia en dia le preguntavan

And day by day they would ask her

De ke teneish la kara tan demudada?

Why does your face look so distraught ?

  • Kuando el Rey Nimrod al kampo salia

When King Nimrod will come out to the fields

Mirava en el sielo i la estreyeria

Vido una luz santa en la juderia

He saw a holy light at theJewish quarter

Ke havia de naser Avraham Avinu

That Abraham our father was going to be born

  • Dear Nilguiri,

Judaism as a religion speaks about the right of the Jews to the Holy Land. You can hate whoever you want, but do not try to separate Judaism and Zionism. Even Naturei Karta, the most fervent religious anti-Zionists, think that the Land of Israel should be given to Jews, but not now. Another point: the ultra-right wing had nothing to do with the last war, Try to understand instead of being angry after watching TV. Please, wright again the words of the song in ladino

  • Let the music rule the world it would be a better one!

  • One of the most beautiful song I have ever heard.

  • Can anyone write the words of this beautiful song?

I can translate it if you like.

Now fuck off out of Palestine, stop killing children and destroying the lives of innocent, defenseless decent people.

    Shalom!

  • You Israelis are the most hated country in the world. I hope you a proud of yourselves. Evil landgrabbing, child-killing, lying bastards.

In case you didn't realize, there is supposed to be a ceasefire - so stop attacking Gaza.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your pm.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not angry with the Jews! - I have nothing against Jews whatsoever!

That seems to be a big problem - Criticize Israel's politics and people assume you are antisemitic. I am not! Antisemite used to mean someone who hates Jews. Now it means someone whom the Jews hate!!

My problem is with the despicable way that the Zionists try to achieve their goals.

Yes I am very angry with them, excuse me for taking it out on you here!

    Shalom.

  • Thanks for your patient and reasoned reponse to my rude message.

Well, you did say I was angry with the Jews. It's not the same thing at all. Not all Jews are Zionists or an ultra right wing murderer, thankfully. Anyway, you are right, I went over the top and was too offensive, especially for this particular video.

But it is out of the same impotence that the Palestinians feel.

  • If I lived in Gaza, I would be firing all the rockets I could get my hands on - not as a "terrorist" but out of pure desperation, a cry from the heart, due to the unjust and inhuman oppression and slaughter. But from where I am all I can do is send a bit of aid to Gaza hoping to relieve a tiny part of somebody's suffering and make stupid comments on YouTube.

  • I am reading The Last Jew by Noah Gordon about the expulsion of the Jews in Spain in 1492.

I would recommend it if you haven't already read it.

  • @Nilguiri also read "The Al Hambra decree" if you can find it (out of print)...very powerful and very sad.

  • Bellísimo

  • This song makes me feel the time I was happy close to my mother. This song tells a little about our story, our tradition and about our hope.

  • Thanks for posting this - it makes me yearn to go to Spain and see the place my family once called home before the expulsion.

  • I think I understand how you might feel. I have thought similarly. I'd like to walk by a royal castle, one occupied by Ferdinand y Isabela, and give them the finger...but I have more class than that! It's funny who survives in this world, nachon?

  • @kaapstader We would love to welcome you back, Catholic Spaniards here.

  • This song is sung all over Israel in Sephaedi homes every Saturday night after the end of the Sabbath. Avraham Ferrera sings with such sincerity, it goes straight from his hear to the hearts of the listeners. Also his Yigdal is very beautiful, it is part of the morning prayers.

  • I want the guitar chords

  • Gracias. Bellísimo !

  • thank you for posting this, i was searching for something in ladino and found this.

  • such an emotional & beautiful song !!!

Viva Israel y la gente Judia !!!

    Regard !!!

  • And we all know the song El Roi Nimrod, I had the experience of hearing the entire congregation and friends of Temple Teferith Israel in Los Angeles sing this song when Juan Carlos and Princess Sofia (the former Greek Princess) and Gustav (the son of King Boris of Bulgaria) came and visited our Temple for the 500th Anniversary of the explusion from Spain. That was history in the making, and I was so very proud to have been able to bring my 5 year old daughters, and my Mother to see that moment.

  • somebody can translate the lyric in english or turkish. music is very lovely.
