voyager was the second most successful trek after tng, like it or not. check the polls and all the votes on star trek.com. star trek that we love died with nemesis, the new movies are just crap and enterprise was just average nothing special.
Well, Paramount killed Star Trek and now J.J. Abrams. But certainly NOT Berman and Braga. They tried something, they gambled, and I feel they lost (at least with Enterprise). But to throw away all the great things both have done (which basically amounts to most of Star Trek) because of one bad show is completely unacceptable. Plus, Braga wrote the best Star Trek movie ever. Some people really need to get a life, and I say this as a huge, grateful Star Trek fan.
Some of you people are so rediculous. Rick Berman IS Star Trek for better or worse. Without him, we would not have had the TNG we had (at least not more than 2 or 3 seasons), no DS9, no Voyager (which I think were both good shows). And yes, Enterprise sucked. SO WHAT??? Braga has contributed significantly to making Star Trek what it has become, LONG before Enterprise. Deal with it people. We owe both of them an enormous amount of gratitude. If anybody killed Star Trek, it was Paramount!
@noparadigm nahh. Ira Steven Behr and Michael Piller had more to do with DS9. Berman was okay for the second half of TNG after Roddenberry died, but besides that, he was more of a failure than a success.
@noparadigm Well said, people have no idea what they're talking about. Without Berman, Piller and Braga Gene Roddenberry's style of story telling could have died with him.
And I have to say... I don't know WHAT anyone's talking about when they insult his appearance... I think he's pretty good-looking.. I guess it's a matter of taste.. but still...
I just can never imagine being THAT consumed with hatred and rage towards someone I only read/hear about on TV and in the media....
I actually like him... I know EVERYONE hates him .. but I do see where he wanted to go with his stories... sure there were glitches, but at the end of the day, he's just a writer, it's just a show and it's all just entertainment... the comments I read on here sometimes are just soo filled with negativity.. it's like "ok, I get it, you're not a fan".. but to have such hatred for someone you've probably never met and who probably doesn't know of your existence..all over a TV show... come on people
He is responsible for everything that went wrong with Star Trek. I hope he suffers a heart attack and survives... horribly horribly crippled from the experience, yes Rick Berman and Brannon Braga , together, suffering, mmm.
@Archedgar What do you know? its not Berman and Braga's fault the network demanded the exact same characters, themes and episodes year after year without giving them room to expand. It's not Berman and Braga's fault that its all but impossible to please a giant group of middle age virgins. In truth these two men worked as hard as anyone to keep Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future alive. Maybe you're the who should die of a heart attack. Who's going to miss you (your mother does not count)
can you guys not imagine how hard it is for him to have to come up with new ideas every day, for like 15 years? you have no idea how hard his job is or how hard he works. trust me. and it all takes a huge toll on his personal life. so smarten the fuck up. you don't know what his life is like and you never will. he's an amazing man and he has the kindest heart in the world. next time you feel like making stupid comments about how he ruined star trek, take a step back and put yourself in his shoes
hossrex, you're a fucking tool. the only scripts that make it to air are the ones the network approves of. Brannon's gotta do what they tell him. besides, he wasn't the only one writing those shows. And the magic he was referring to was the popularity and ratings. don't be an ass next time, he was only doing his job.
Ach, I hate alot of what Braga put into Star Trek, but i don't see what happened to the franchise as all his fault.
I think he's absolutely right about the over-saturation - though i also think he and Berman reacted badly in how they tried to combat that saturation. The fourth season of Enterprise proved that - with the right creative-leader - there was still potential in the franchise, and in that series.
Sure it's hard. But when you're a leader you need to be aware of when the time comes to step aside. If you can't meet a challenge - and nobody can continuously do the same thing perfectly for years and years, Braga and Berman have my respect for how many great things they did earlier on - you need to make room for someone who can.
They made that happen in Ent's 4th season, to their credit. With a new head writer, the show got really damn good. I just wish they'd realised the necessity earlier.
Braga is a pathetic, incompetent hack whose supposedly 'good' stories arem without exception, rip-offs of other peoples' ideas. He almost ruined Voyager, he DEFINITELY ruined Enterprise, and in general he's an arrogant dickhead. I don't want him dead, like some people here, but I certainly don't want him anywhere near TV SF in any form ever again. :)
Brannon, thanks for being true to Gene Roddenberry's vision, to the positive image of the future he brought us. Thanks for a series of fantastic TV shows and Next Gen movies. Your work runs rings around the likes of Jar Jar, Orci and Co. There will come a time ( in not too distant future I expect ) when people give you credit you deserve. Live long and prosper.

If I could kill anyone and get away with it I would kill this mother fucker. I would slice his anus in half with a Bat'leth and watch him bleed to death. You fucked up Voyager you fuck, why would Chakotay hook up w/ Seven? Everyone knows Chakotay had a boner for Janeway.
The man had potential he never received any good coaching before they made him crank out episodes one after the other, The only good Braga episodes are the "head game" plots were logic doesn't apply.
It would be dishonest to say he never made anything good, His work 9 out of 10 times is complete shit.
When its comes to Branon's ability at making classic trek stories like space anomalies and anything to do with biology,It Always falls flat on its face! The man is illiterate to science!
the reason the final of Ent was seen as bad was because it was another TNG holodeck episode. again destroying any sense that this was a prequel. now if they had the end be round 2245 (the original) launch date of the original Enterprise with an elderly Archer/ T'pol thinking back on the formation of the UPF, and we see the Enterprise fly away starting TOS. with Captain April (original first Enterprise Captain) it would have been a nice nod to TOS...but like i said this guy hated TOS.
oh yeah that would have been great. one problem i have with the 1990s of Trek was that there wasnt ANY room for anything TOS. Star trek Excelsior (or even the Enterprise-B) would have been a nice way to continue the TOS storyline.
a true ''Next generation'' Picard was really the second or third Generation after all! ;)
yeah First Contact was written by this guy all right....i still dont why the Borg went back in time....:(
oh AND this guy killed Captain Kirk....and he dint like TOS, proud he never watched it....and then makes a prequel to it...a prequel that dint work as one...goodness dude...
This man is a fucking bastard. When i see him I wanna kill him, rape him with a machete, deficate on him, piss on him, eat his children, [pretty much all the terrible things you could do to someone else]
AttackPatternMeteor, its a bit more complicated than that. It wasn't just the technobabble that eroded modern treks appeal, but the poor character writing and strict adherence to a "formula".
DS9 was more popular among fans because the characters felt more real, the stories were well thought out and executed and they had consequences. Voyager and Enterprise resorted to stories that relied on the reset button, and tokenistic chariactures that never really developed but stayed the same.
Well at least he's been honest about some things with regard to Enterprise. Enterprise was his brain child along with Bermans and it showed, despite him saying to the contrary, T'pol was a clone of 7of9.
Enterprise was domed to failure the moment the pilot aired, like a house built on unstable foudations (no adherence to canon, poor acting and writing) it was bound to fall eventually.
The only reason it lasted 99 episodes was so that Paramount could sell the series to syndication.
the show was nothing with him

They were still writing it like it was TNG ,Were the ship could be repaired quickly at a starbase and so the "reset" has sense behind it.
Ds9 was the most developed and character driven trek series , DS9 was good sci-fi but not a genuine a Trek series.
