I tried numerous of the items explained here, but I need to state that nothing even compares to DietOramy eating plan relating to health and extra pounds elimination - search google, there's a great deal of no cost information...
@littleshippy88 If it gets you going in the right direction great. Remember though, fad diets fail in the long run. Do your food shopping around the perimeter of the store, learn to read food labels properly, learn when to eat what. Be creative so food doesn't get boring, plan ahead and always have quick healthy foods available. If it was living once eat it!
It's easy to say to eat less move more.. but put it into practice.. it's all about changing the way that you eat forever.. that's the toughy.. change your habits.
Just eat a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meats, nuts, beans, dairy, lots of water and moderate exercise. 5 to 6 smaller meals over 3 large ones. Doctors have been saying this since the dawn of time yet no one does it. People choose to follow fad diets instead. We all have always had the answer to being healthy. It's all about protein, vitamins and minerals, complex carbs, both soluble and insoluble fiber, healthy (mono and poly) unsaturated fats. Period, end of story.
@nyjic500 I agree with you, but it's just not that simple for everyone, especially those with problem eating. I've been doing this diet for a few days now, and though I can definitely say I couldn't see myself following it for the rest of my life, the rapid weight loss has been a great motivator for me.
I've been doing this diet for the first cycle now and am about to switch into the next one. I have to say, I really like it so far! I haven't weighed myself yet but I feel slimmer and better. My mom, who is doing this with me, has lost more than 10 lbs already and has the best blood pressure she has had in a long time! I know for the first time in a long time she is feeling really hopeful that she will lose her weight.
I understand the skepticism. My doc suggested Moreno's book. She works w/him here in El Cajon @Kaiser. I don't think she gets a kickback from him for recommending it. Also, I can't imagine Kaiser allowing him to associate himself w/them if it were all a scam. Isn't it much easier to blame the creators of all these diets than to take responsibility for getting yourself overweight in the 1st place? I have 80 lbs to lose & I have no one to blame for all the failed diets but myself.
I agree with many here. I think a person could do just as well on the South Beach supercharged diet. The 17 day diet is to me just another rich person trying to become richer. On the website, he only has like 10 before and after pics. If it's so successful, there would be a heck of a lot more photos posted.
what the heck..?? If you wanna lose weight you gotta get rid of fatty food, white bread, rice, cola, pizza, sugar (you name it)... And do cardio.. These books wont help you. its YOU who can change yourself, only if YOU and ONLY YOU want to.. And hell yeah you can do it.. Rome was not built in a day, so be patient and have faith ;) Good Luck....
to Nightingale -- very sorry to hear you have limitations. Hopefully MOST ppl with these sort of challenges can find ways to burn calories or more their bodies....sorry I do not see this as discrimination but rather as a challenge to you to find a way to add activity into your life.
You include an exercise program and have not addressed the population of persons who are not able to participate in an active exercise routine as they are immobile, wheelchair dependent etc. Your introduction to this diet is in essence on par with discrimination......for shame
This diet is a scam, nothing more that a marketing scheme designed to sell you crap. The food suggested is not healthy! After you buy the book you will be pressured into buying a very overpriced recipe program. Dr Phil should be ashamed of himself for being part of this scam.
@rskurow What are you talking about? A recipe program? I have the book and I have no idea what you are referring to. And I also don't know what about eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, and lean meats is not healthy... I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first because just the title "17 day diet" sounds gimmicky to me, but I think it's actually a pretty good diet.

@Tayloranne53 You are making the most common dieters mistake...it's eat MORE, move MORE! You should be eating a lot of the right foods!

Guys: The Doctors is produced by Dr. Phil's son. So it is just one big marketing plan by the McGraw Machine. Anything to get a bit richer.

@rskurow This book was pushed on The Doctors show too. Makes me wonder what kind of deal they all made with this author.
