  • @Jarathe dave gahan is one of the finest showmen that ever lived... maybe not during their popular '80s synth phase, but now during their refined, latter years he dominates the fucking stage!!!!

  • Anyone who disrespects depeche mode is an idiot. Im just glad you accept it instead of trying to deny it

  • Haha this is like bad karaoke. Like the recorded one; this is awful showmanship.

  • @Jarathe you're an idiot.

  • @deltamode8 Right, I'm the idiot.

  • I love this song! its kicks ass!

  • Muito louco

  • 4 are insane!

  • If at all, I interpret this song not about Christianity or religion, but about hypocritical people who claim that they know what is right and what is wrong, and impose the same ideals to other people. Those also includes politicians and authoritarians. Not a criticism on the message itself (values, morals, ideals) but criticism on the messenger.

  • I personally think most people are misinterpreting the song as an attack on Christianity. But it sounds like an attack on the Apostle John and his book of Revelations in particular as a fear mongering tool. The imagery in Revelations is very different to any other book of the bible after all.

  • moda rapida ai como e bom amar

  • Depeche Mode is the sound of universe. I adore them and always will

  • Anyways I like Dave's dancing

  • seven angels, like seven most developed countryes in the world

  • So John the revelator is stealing God from the Muslims even though he predates them by oh I don't know ...600 years.

  • @ZeroShift5000 dont shove religion into this

just enjoy the song the song

  • @finnsia If you didn't notice the name of the song is "John the revalator" filled with lines like "let him tell his book of lies" "Stealing a God from the Israelite, stealing a God from the Muslim too" I didn't shove religion into this Dave Gahan did. But of course I'm the bad guy for pointing out Gahan doesn't have a clue about what he's attacking.

  • @ZeroShift5000 I know this is about religion however I was saying not to make a scandel out of a song. There are plenty of songs out there that having nothing but bullshit in them yet people believe it. He made the song for people to listen not to analyze. Don't take it apart otherwise you would see how terrible the song is and how flawed the lyrics are. Just listen and enjoy in bliss :)

  • @ZeroShift5000 And who knows, maybe he speaks about god in general, not the Christian God so many other people could listen to it too. Since there were hundreds of religions before Christianity

  • @finnsia Minus the fact that the title is "John the Revalator" also known as the apostle John, a somewhat famous Christian prophet. It's kinda specific if you know what I mean. Besides I thought artists like people looking into their work trying to understand deeper levels of meaning.

  • @ZeroShift5000 " Besides I thought artists like people looking into their work trying to understand deeper levels of meaning."

    >"trying"

  • @ZeroShift5000

I think you are perfectly right on this one, assuming this is a song about christianity. I'm not too well informed about the bible, but from the lyrics I assume this is about ( not exclusively christian(Since the christian viewpoint would be one of a westerner)) arrogance claiming that they "own" the only and only real god themselves, in spite of every religion somehow borrowing heavily from other ones.

I think the message here is that if you believe in god....

  • @uwai223 It always amazes me that the pluralist thinks he is enlightened by chastising someone for holding to the view of exclusivity as being arrogant but is unable to see that he is guilty of the same arrogance when he says everyone who disagrees with him is wrong and somehow only he can see the big picture.

  • @ZeroShift5000

you have to be aware of the fact that the god you believe in might as well be Allah, or Jahwe, or Jah. It's a concept that nobody owns, yet people try to make it their own and are intolerant in the process. I think it's a message of peace and tolerance.

on a side note: yay for retards

  • @uwai223 this statement shows how little you know about Christianity, Judaism and Islam

  • Whos that shouting?!!
