nice pull best ive seen, sorry about the lose of a great driver RIP! looks like the chain driving the weight would have broke before crushing the cage he was in?
no what happened was (btw i was there) that the sledge moved forward broke through the cage and squashed his pelvis against a red hot engine at the the end of a very near full pull.
i was there when the accident happened and when the wieght hit him the officials seemed to handle the situation very well so im sure that if the btpa tell the HSE then it shuldnt be cancelled! RIP Jan God bless! :(
what! they want to cancell the whole tractor pulling thing @ Great Eccleston ? all sports have a ellement of risk attached & if i was killed doing My sport then id want it to carry on. a lot will depend on the police & HSE weather it can afford to continue & insurance as well but on the whole i would think its far to early to start assuming anything
How do you know that they are going to cancel it. Not even some members of the btpa know if they are going to cancel it yeh it depends on insurance etc but some people are still in shock at the momenmt but after the full investigation is carried out then decisions will be made
well in the blackpool gazette newspaper it said that officals may decide to postpone or cancel all future events. but the dude that drives the 'desperate dan' had an article saying the guy who died would not have wanted it to end. so chances are it will still carry on.
I hope it carries on, but only if those running it start taking (sledge) safety seriously. Really upsets you to think that the 'same' malfunction happened the night before (but at slower speed) and no one could be bothered to work out why the sledge behaved in this way ... :(
you can see in this video the weight on the slead is to far forword at half track, he is crushed by the time he stoped in this video,
