Still my alltime favorite recording of my alltime favorite guitarist. On top of all the other beauty in the song, that solo that hits at 1:55....YEAH BABY!
well doesn't that make sense though? When Page was with Led Zeppelin, that, I'm sure, was the BEST
years of his life, and certainly, they made the BEST rock music in history back then that has transcended through time and I think is still the best! You gotta remember what made Led Zeppelin so great to begin with:
Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and, last but most certainly not least, ROCK'S GREATEST drummer, John Henry Bonham!
@woingenau300 Compared to the top shelf zeppelin, maybe Outrider is lacking, but compared to the weak lemonade of The Firm and Roy Harper collaborations circa mid 80's, Outrider is an oasis in the desert for this listener. Some of the vocals are a bit irritating, but the guitar work is great. I've always wondered how much of the stuff may have been leftovers from previous years, maybe even back to the In Through The Outdoor sessions. Anyone know?
How come Sir James Patrick Page is not knighted for his musicianship? He was granted knighthood for his work with disadvantaged Brazilian youth. Arguably he is one of the greatest musicians born in the UK.
@beeterolds Yes, Jason Bonham did MOST of the drumming on this album, but Barriemore Barlow plays the drums on two tracks: Liquid Mercury and Emerald Eyes (according to Wikipedia anyway). Barrie is an outstanding drummer, you should check out some of his work with Jethro Tull.

I like this melodic thing, but i think, the guitar on outrider hasn't got this feeling it had on led zeppelin's albums :/
the guitar isn't screaming

@Jameson10314 He wasn't knighted, he's an OBE (Officer of the British Empire)

In answer to heavybigot that is Jason Bonham the son of the great John Bonham on drums. I personally think he can't hold a candle to his dad..

jason bonham on drums , el hijo de bonzo...

Definitely my favorite Jimmy Page song! The guitar layers are as glorious as ever, and the lead loud soloing menacing guitar just wipes me out.
