@Dragonwatcher2008 Yes. It's actually a little louder if you hit it softer than you would a splash or something. Nylon tips help a lot with the sound.
it's probably not good for riding because he has the felt on too tight, which absorbs the waves of resonance, leaving a shitty sound each time you hit it. that's really a waste of a stand, he should just put a stacker on another stand
@drhbettathanu thats better, just loosen it up and if that doesn't work, then take the felt off and try it, if that doesn't work, its a shitty cymbal for riding
@drhbettathanu I imagine so, smaller splashes get easier to strike as you get used to having them on your kit, although some of it depends on where you put it. It's not a splash of course but I set my 6" Zil-Bell to where it rests on the top of the rim on my bass drum, so it's right there and easy as ever to hit.
I have 70's 2002 18in crash and 15in hi hats thats in near mint condition. does anyone have any real experience playing with this cymbal? i find it so amusing im thinking about getting it as an accent piece
i didnt when i made this video but i do now. its really good for accents especially during a quick quiet part of a song. not really good for hitting more than twice in a row though.
That's good. Paiste cymbals are not known for cracking, but, when they are clamped down too tight, it can happen. It probably would take forever for it to show any damage, like you said, but at least now that you loosened it, it won't hurt it.
I have had my Paiste 2002's since the 80's, and none of them have cracked. I have 13" sound edge hih hats, a 22" China, 22" medium crash, 22" Ride 24" crash, 17" Rude ride/crash, the accents cymbals, and cup chimes. The less expensive Paiste's are more prone to crack, especially if you abuse them.
if it was loose it would be far too difficult to do more than one strike consecutively. i mean its so small even a small amount of force would really smash it around

I am using 4,6 &8" accent cymblas, which are to my right, which you will hear me play at the end of the solo. They are inexpensive, thick little cymbals that cut through. Carl Palmer used them in several ELP tunes, and during solos. The end of the solo where I plat them and the rest of the cymbals I did spontaneously.
The wingnut is in the way...

Why do you have it tightened down, so? That is how you crack cymbals, and it also hinders the sound.
audiophile55 2 years ago
i have it looser now but the sound didnt change and its so small that it would take forever to even show any damage on it at all
drhbettathanu 2 years ago
