I love how Sandra Oh described her first meeting with Big Bird - "like that moment in Ratatouille where the critic eats the ratatouille..." it would be like that for me if I ever met a Muppet.
@RadioLaPrincess, I have to agree with you, Because I too remember watching Sesame Street when I was Younger, This show has taught my all about, Numbers, Letters, and also about Friendship. and I hope that I'll show this show to my two nieces when they are older., and I also hope that the Next Generaition would watch this show, just as the generaition did before them.
I am 40 and watching this clip brought tears to my eyes. This is such an amazing show and I am thrilled I was able to watch it as a child. I have a genius IQ and firmly believe this show is part of the reason why, along with having parents who read to me. I hope this show lasts forever and that my future kids and grandkids can enjoy it.
@RadioLaPrincess I know what you mean. I was Three when the Show debuted and like so many people I remember watching it. So many people have visited The Street not to be confused with The UK Soap Opera Coronation St. : - D. I live in Canada and while the US Version had segments in English & Spanish, we had ours in English & French. This is the Show that every Kid's show of Today's Generation should be lucky to be compared to.
Yep ... Sesame Street is unsurpassed. I remember growing up with the show ... then sat with my nephews and nieces watching it. And when I am home sick ... sometimes my remote stops on Public TV ... even to this day. :)
Ok, I Jusr Want To Say That The 2010's Daytime Emmy's Was Boring, They Didn't Even Introduce Any Of The Cast Of Their Respective Soap Operas, Didn't Even Have A Tribute To Francios Reid (r.i.p), Didn't even Present outstanding children's series, programming, villian/villianess, and I didn't even see, Drew Carey, Howie Mandel, Pat Sajak, Wayne Brady, And I Didn't Even See Joe Mascolo Or Anyone From Days Of Our Lives, All They Showed Was James Scott. What Is Uo With That?.
@bengorillaz, I just want to say that the 2010's daytime emmy's was boring, for a couple of reasons, reason number 1, they didn't introduced each soap opera, reason number 2, they didn't even have a tribute to the late, great, francios reid (r.i.p), reason number 3, didn't see my fave soap opera star joe mascolo, and the number 3 reason is, didn't see, Alex Trebek, Montell Williams, Drew Carey, or even Howie Mandel, or even Bini Irwin, what's up with that?.
I Still Think That The 2010 Daytime Emmus Was So Boring, They Didn't Even Show The Whole Cast Of Dool, All They Showed Was James Scott (EJ Dimera), And Also They Didn't Have A Tribute To Francios Reid (r.i.p), and They Didn't Even Have A Daytime Emmy For, "Oustanding Children's Show, Outstanding Children's Series, Or Even, Outstanding Villian, and Outstanding Villianess, Now Can Someone Tell Me What Is Up With That?.
Ok, I'm going have to make an emmy complaint, the 2010's daytime emmy's was a real drag, they didn't even present a daytime emmy for, "outstanding children's series, outstanding children's programming, outstanding villian, outstanding villianess", and all they showed was James Scott (EJ Dimera, Dool), and They Didn't even show the rest of the dool cast. and they didn't even show a tribute to francios reid (r.i.p), What is up with that?.
The only children's show in history that deserves this award. Nothing else will ever compare with Sesame Street. What kids see in Dora and Diego I will never figure out.
in case anyone missed it.........(clears throat)..........Sesame Street is brought to you today by the Letter E (for a lot of Emmys) and The Number 40.
My hope For Sesame Street is that it will carry on it's work, my friend just had identcle twin girls, and I hope that they'll enjoy watching this wonderful show.
& if Ernie & Bert were there, they might say this after Cookie says "That taste even better than Latin Grammy!":
(Rubber Duckie squeaking fastly) Bert: Ernie, could you stop that with the Duckie? Ernie: It's not me, ol' Buddy Bert. Rubber Duckie's tellin' me somethin'. (squeaks Rubber Duckie)
Ooooohhh! I see! Rubber Duckie says "Sesame Street has been brought to you tonight by... " Big Bird (holds up red A): The letter A for "Anniversary"! &... Abby (holds up purple E): The letter E for Emmys! Cast: & by the number 40! (audience cheers & claps loudly) Bob: Sesame Street has been productions of... Ernie & Bert (holding original Children's Television Workshop sign): The Children's Television Workshop! Telly: The Jim Henson Company! Elmo: & Sesame Workshop!
Yes... I dunno why it came up again. Strefan0Fan27 keeps putting up his/her "Sesame Street is brought to you by the letter E & by the number 40" comment a lot of times.
that would be so funny if bert said, "if the object was to spin the wheel", then ernie would say, "then rubber ducky would squeak "no deal", and he'll (ernie) would squeak his rubber ducky, and bert would say, "ho boy". that would be so funny.
in case anyone forgot.........(clears throat, takes a deep breath)......Sesame Street is brought to you today by the letter E (for lifetime achievment emmy) and the number 40.
I wish that they had more muppets like Bert, Ernie, Harry and Kermit plus more of the humans (past and present): Susan, Gina, Miles, Mr. Handford, Ruthie, Linda and Gabi!!! That would have been greatt!!
I think it would have been great to introduce them as the Cast of Sesame Street [Past and Present]...It would show the audience how much the show has grown in the years it has been on TV [Some of us watched Gabi, Tarah and Miles grow up on the show!]-In addition to all the Muppets and humans-I forgot to add the Count and Prairie Dawn; Plus Savion!!!!
didn't you already made a post?. Oh and btw, i've been a fan of sesame street ever since i was 3-years-old, living on a farm in canton, south dakota, and i've watched shows [past and present] like this one, shining time station, reading rainbow, star lore, is-land treasure, once upon a time, storylords, square one tv, zoobliee zoo, and also where in the world is carmen sandiego, and even newton's apple too.
wow, I still remember when i was young, and living on a farm in canton, south dakota, i remember sitting on the floor in front of the tv, and i would watch this show.

watching this now and last night almost brings tears to my eyes as i've grown up with sesame street! it is one of those shows that will never lose its popularity and is one of the few all around good shows left for children! i hope to continue to watch sesame street with my 2 new baby cousins and with all the kids in my future! congratulations on this honor sesame street!
wow everyone watching looks so happy...look at Ellen she looks like she's gonna cry...amazing :) ...I'm so glad I got to grow up watching sesame street
I grew up with Sesame Street and am now great friends with Caroll Sprinney, Big Bird and Oscar (shown here), and I love this video! I love when the curtain goes up and you can see the silhouette of everyone, but the only one that you can really depict is BB's and everyone stands up and claps... I feel so blessed that this was a part of my life
ill be honest. one of my biggest dreams is to be on sesame street. i grew up with it, like everyone else. and i think they have held up Jim's vision quite well
I love how Sandra Oh described her first meeting with Big Bird - "like that moment in Ratatouille where the critic eats the ratatouille..." it would be like that for me if I ever met a Muppet.
