I have to add that is a spectacular low bar sequence-it so great to see a gymnast who actually does something on the low ala Silivas (stalder-fulltwist) , or Szabo (toe-on shoot full). The higher bar in every quad pretty much gets all the love.

do you know which leotards the Chinese were penalized for wearing? these red leos or the ones they wore for compulsories?

I believe if memory serves that it was at a World Championships not at the Olympics where China received a deduction-the leos as I understand it were riding too high showing a little too much skin front and back-rather like G-strings. I remember seeing a picture in IG1 of a Chinese gymnast with the offending leo performing on floor-she was in a prone position with her legs arched behind her and yeah-that leo was much too high in the crotch/buttocks area.

I believe there is still a (team) deduction if the judges don't like the fit of a leotard. I was just watching some vids of the Chinese at the 1992 Worlds-I think that's the one lol. Lu Li bless her has just a teeny bit too much booty showing! And her leo is cut dangerously high-at the front! Woops!

No, it was the 1992 Olympics where they received the deduction for their leotards during the Optionals. It did not prevent them from a medal.

In the EF's they wore different leotards.

Awesome routine to this day (better in fact than alot of what passes for bars today). Thank you for posting all these videos. I hate that the commentators don't shut up about Shannon and Gutsu during Lu Li's magnificent performance-very disrespectful of the athlete and her hard work.

You have to remember that the commentators were not watching Lu Li's bars while they were commentating. This was a replay in-between rotations. Their comments were just overlayed.
