@OnaFerrari i dont think they would have been allowed to test it on the road but a track is a good place to get to know a brand new car or be it one that isn't in production yet.
Terrible car......Nissan GTR twin turbo 3.8 litre V6 (smaller engine, less 2 cylinders), 545 bhp, 2.9 sec 0-100. Come on Bentley........Mclaren is the only supercar manufacturer worthy of representing Britain. The rest can kiss my bullocks. That includes all your overpriced Astons. Bentley and Astons should have died out years ago......All show, no go
@blub3145 what does have to do with this video? with 90k plus a gtr you can smash a SSc Ams =D the gtr can cover quarter mile in 8 seconds.. take your ssc and shove it up your ass
@DoubleScotchNeat Since when are 0-60 times relevant in the real world? You buy the Bentley if you want quality and luxury over numbers and lap times.
now come on people, if you wanted to buy Bentley - would you give a shit about spending 10% less and getting v8 instead of w12? if I wanted Bentley I would for sure wanted the biggest strongest and most greeedy engine they have!
@shobin05 - I know man.. I wish my english didn't suck that much. What I meant is - that imagine you're righ guy, who wants to buy a Bentley.. now would you really bother to buy this v8 instead of w12 because it's more eco friendly?! wouldn't you rather have a proper w12 under the bonnet?
You have to understand that most rich people buy whats new not whats bigger, i know its cooler to have a bigger engine, but sometimes you should ask yourself, if you can produce a car that is faster, more powerful, and more kinder to the environment, why not right?
plus the reason they ditched the old W12 is probably because it was way too heavy..
Trust me cylinders and cubic inches make a smoother nicer car. In a 250hp inline 4 the revs are loud and the rpms are high, in 250 hp v8 it is smoother and nice....
@DualofChaos I don't think so. High-end proper European supercars will still use V12s. Turbocharging has its disadvantages as well, and there is a limit to how much power a V8 will give.
I think many are forgetting that just because a car company wants to use a extremely powerful v12 in their car, doesn't mean they can. The governments of different countries will place more stringent emission laws in the future. Will the v12s make it to meet those laws? Well we can only hope.
@emwa3d despite lower mpgs, there's an advantage in not having to stop at the gas station every other day. Despite what your bank account says the hassle of frequently stopping what you're doing to go fuel up is universally annoying.
Everyone in the car industry and motorsport are using smaller engine's but with turbos now. Mainly because the technology we have today make's these engines much more efficient and still they produce more power than the old one's. WTCC 1.6 turbo, same with WRC, and F1 next year going with 1.6ltr V6 turbo, it's all about emissions now and being enviornmentally friendly.
No seriously, BMW is doing a great job on making Rolls being Rolls. However VW/Audi are taking away the parts that make the Bentley a Bentley. A Bentleys are suppose to have oversized engines and big pricetags. And when you own one gas money should not be an issue for them...
Shit... They could have at least used the cool 6 3/4 V8 from the Azure...
You mean a four or six, surely - that's what they were running when they were still "Bentleys" and owned by W. O. The 3 and the 4 1/2 litre (supercharged and non-supercharged were fours with the 6 1/2 litre and 'Speed Six' being six cylinders!

At that end of the market, the actual fuel cost may not be that significant, but the extended range may make a difference - few things more annoying on a long trip than having to keep stopping for fuel!
Bentley's don't have to have any particular number or formation of cylinders as long as it's not diesel. Fuel consumption is a factor for premium car buyers too so I don't know where the notion cones from that if one spends circa £130,000 on a car we say duck the environment. Thank you and good night.
@IJunglist2010 If people that pay that much for a car cared about the environment they wouldn't buy such cars in the first place. Even at 40% more efficient this car makes shit for gas mileage. Nobody buys a Bently for the environment. lol

The NA v12 in the Aventador can only do so much right? what if it needs another 300 horses to compete with future competitors?
@DualofChaos I don't see it as a problem. For cars like this, the engine wasn't really part of its heritage, so it's no big loss as long as sound and performance are still good.
Big Ferraris, Lambos, and Astons will come with a V12 for a long time, I'm confident of that. The engine is part of what makes them special.
But for every other car that just had a big engine for performance, engineering innovations can give them better performance out of smaller engines, which is a good thing.
@DualofChaos Not as long as Lambo or Ferrari throw in the towels, no. In fact they were the people who got the ball rolling in the first place and might be the last.
I really don't agree with you autocar. My father has a 2007 bentley gt w12.
And if you buy this kind of car, you don't care about how much it uses gas.
And the sound? please a w12 sounds really good, it sounds classy. And in a bentley you need to heer a classy sound not a sports sound.
And That what you said about just as fast is bullshit. In the real world if you drive it lots of people are in your ass on the freeway. Like porsches. And the car is over 2.6 tons. In the real world, buy the w12
@posteldudedb Go with your father to bentley and THEN give us your opinion about the car's performance and sound that you did not test YET - But right now this professionnal guy's test is "the real world", all the rest is just suppositions
@jamecontent I am mostly the driver if we come back from a party. He doesn't want to drive it if he drank some alcohol. So then i drive, and i floor it. And i think i know more about bentleys than that idiot. Which idiot says a v8 sportsound is better to a bentley than a w12 classy sound. A bentley is not a sports car it is a classy GT car.
And if you buy a bentley you can also test the new cars of the type of car you bought. In our case it is the continental so YES i test drove the new w12.
@jamecontent But the new v8 not yet, but it will be very soon. They usually send an invitation around this time.
That is the real world? A track. Omfg you are a brainless fuck... The real world is on public roads not tracks. An in the real world if you drive a bentley lots of idiot noob tuners an porsches are in you're ass so a 500hp V8 is useless in the real world. I know that because it happens a lot. Last week i had a porsche 4s up my ass.
Make some more money and buy it in like 25 years 4u
@posteldudedb Big words from a daddy's boy that owned nothing by himself - Your father bought a bentley for straight lines right? A supposed gentlemen trying to compete with porsches on highways, right? Well I just can't lower at your level, kid
@posteldudedb the bentley continental gt v8 does over 180mph. and 500hp is more than a porsche 911 4s would have. the bentley is well fast enough to keep with porsches if you know how to drive one
@posteldudedb Interesting experience, but you did not test that car so basing your opinion on its weakness in straight lines, sensations and sound is pure theory - Future owners will make their mind while driving it, and I guess the intelligent ones will feel free of any tradition and vanity - regards
@posteldudedb firstly, its not a bentley gt w12, its bentley CONTINENTAL gt w12. secondly, people who buy this car are looking to take it for long cruises thus, fuel effciency is important. thirdly, the reason the v8 sounded sporty in the video was because he was pushing it on a track. fourthly, it does OVER 180 mph, is that not fast enough? if you wanna drag porsches on the freeway, buy a ferrari or lamborghini. a bentley is for people who enjoy their ride. in the real world, buy the v8
Good review, excellent car but it's still not as good or as fast as Aston Martin DB9. And lets not forget the Aston is one of worlds most prettiest cars on sale today
@peanuts2105 I would chose an Aston over any other recent car too if I wanted to be classy and exclusive- But you must be aware that DB9's technology, performance, and electronic are completely outdated by XKR, 612, and bentley that are much more efficient and modern cars - Still my preferate GT, though
It may be more efficient, better to drive etc. But just think, if you go and see your mates, you can say I have a 6.0L Twin Turbo Bentley W12. Or you could say I have a 4.0 Twin Turbo V8. I think I would go with the W12.
Efficency is the way to go. I don't gate all the bad responces here. If it drives better, has the same power, has better efficency and sounds better why not?!
This is a kidding? WTF! This brand is a true premium brand, a true aristocrat brand.V8 and TWINTURBO. bullshit! This is not a m5, Damn, this is a Bentley. This vehicle's rival, the Rolls Royce. 4.0 8cylinder twin turbo WTF? Does not put any real premium brand motor option! How is this a marketing error? Brand image is being hampered! A few years later, used bentley can get a cheap! Why is no one, such as Rolls Royce & Ferrari cannot stay true elite? Bentley as a potential customer, I'm sorry.
@javaplan15 do you know how to write proper english sentences? i could not understand a single thing you wrote, and if your saying this car is stupid because they downsized the engine but kept the same power, you are retarded.
I hope they put this engine in the Flying Spur Saloon

Well that 40 percent less fuel is now gonna contribute to the 40 percent of Borneo forest left.... fantastic.

@posteldudedb Post a video of the gt or gtfo :)
saavaa 1 month ago
@posteldudedb Go with your father to bentley and THEN give us your opinion about the car's performance and sound that you did not test YET - But right now this professionnal guy's test is "the real world", all the rest is just suppositions
jamecontent 1 month ago
@jamecontent I am mostly the driver if we come back from a party. He doesn't want to drive it if he drank some alcohol. So then i drive, and i floor it. And i think i know more about bentleys than that idiot. Which idiot says a v8 sportsound is better to a bentley than a w12 classy sound. A bentley is not a sports car it is a classy GT car.
And if you buy a bentley you can also test the new cars of the type of car you bought. In our case it is the continental so YES i test drove the new w12.
posteldudedb 1 month ago
@jamecontent But the new v8 not yet, but it will be very soon. They usually send an invitation around this time.
That is the real world? A track. Omfg you are a brainless fuck... The real world is on public roads not tracks. An in the real world if you drive a bentley lots of idiot noob tuners an porsches are in you're ass so a 500hp V8 is useless in the real world. I know that because it happens a lot. Last week i had a porsche 4s up my ass.
Make some more money and buy it in like 25 years 4u
posteldudedb 1 month ago
@posteldudedb Big words from a daddy's boy that owned nothing by himself - Your father bought a bentley for straight lines right? A supposed gentlemen trying to compete with porsches on highways, right? Well I just can't lower at your level, kid
jamecontent 1 month ago
@posteldudedb the bentley continental gt v8 does over 180mph. and 500hp is more than a porsche 911 4s would have. the bentley is well fast enough to keep with porsches if you know how to drive one

@posteldudedb Interesting experience, but you did not test that car so basing your opinion on its weakness in straight lines, sensations and sound is pure theory - Future owners will make their mind while driving it, and I guess the intelligent ones will feel free of any tradition and vanity - regards
satch2011 1 month ago
@posteldudedb firstly, its not a bentley gt w12, its bentley CONTINENTAL gt w12. secondly, people who buy this car are looking to take it for long cruises thus, fuel effciency is important. thirdly, the reason the v8 sounded sporty in the video was because he was pushing it on a track. fourthly, it does OVER 180 mph, is that not fast enough? if you wanna drag porsches on the freeway, buy a ferrari or lamborghini. a bentley is for people who enjoy their ride. in the real world, buy the v8

i dunno why but with this downsized engine fitted in this Bentley, the car looks smaller too? haha. must be the new front end.

Good review, excellent car but it's still not as good or as fast as Aston Martin DB9. And lets not forget the Aston is one of worlds most prettiest cars on sale today
peanuts2105 1 month ago
@peanuts2105 I would chose an Aston over any other recent car too if I wanted to be classy and exclusive- But you must be aware that DB9's technology, performance, and electronic are completely outdated by XKR, 612, and bentley that are much more efficient and modern cars - Still my preferate GT, though

I do not like the /_____\ front bumper. Not that upside down V shape on a British car.

I would rather see a V12 TDI super-diesel in than this small V8 :S
olaguma 1 month ago
It may be more efficient, better to drive etc. But just think, if you go and see your mates, you can say I have a 6.0L Twin Turbo Bentley W12. Or you could say I have a 4.0 Twin Turbo V8. I think I would go with the W12.
Goosetrain123 1 month ago
@Goosetrain123 Or you could just say "I have a Bentley". I don't think they'll care otherwise.

I know the v8 is more efficient but its sad to say goodyby to the W12

@2008calander And what does that even mean? The Continental is already the most reliable car on the market.

Very polished review. Thanks.
And 40% less use of fuel; that's fantastic.
People just need to realize that this is not less Bentley, it's just a different kind of Bentley.
If the dealers can sell them for $150K(US), many will find new homes.

Bentley as a potential customer, I'm sorry.
javaplan15 1 month ago
@javaplan15 So true elite can only be expressed by naturally aspirated engines with at least 12 cylinders, is that what you're saying?
Pietervdv 1 month ago
@javaplan15 do you know how to write proper english sentences? i could not understand a single thing you wrote, and if your saying this car is stupid because they downsized the engine but kept the same power, you are retarded.
