The only part of this song that was written on stage was at Smalls in Hamtramick in '05 and that's the "HEY!" part of the song. I was there, and I started the "HEY".... People told me to shut up, and not they all shout it out loud. Even Auggie and Cocoa looked at eachother like WTF when I did it and now it sticks... Great garage rock band and I'm bummed they haven't made it big yet... They really do rock...
The 61/49 album by the Romantics sounds like the raw garage british invasion influenced band that they were in their early days before Pete Solley got a hold of them and totally screwed up their sound with his squeaky clean production. I have changed my opinion about the Muggs and think they are pretty cool after seeing them open for Cactus, but the Hard Lessons still suck and obviously always will.
The Ivorys were a local Detroit band from about 25 years ago who were better than the Hard Lessons on their worst day. They actually wrote some really good ORIGINAL material. As for the Romantics, they still play today and get paid GREAT money for every show they do. You should actually listen to 61/49 before you show your ignorance and lack of taste in music.
Any decent musician could write an album's worth of these kind of songs in one day. There is no originality here. There are good garage bands who have their own sound. This ain't it. And as musicians, it doesn't get any lamer than this guitar player or keyboard player. I guess it doesn't take much to please some people. If you want to hear some really good garage flavored rock, you should have picked up the last Romantics album, 61/49.
These guys are cool no matter what "yourtubesteak" says. Your opinion is your own, so instead of bashing other people that dig this stuff, kindly get a life, tks bai~
Better than I'll ever be. Ya. I played in a band that opened for people like the Ramones, Pretenders, and Iggy back in the 80s. I can outplay that guitar player on my worst day, and my son is better than I'll ever be. Both of my sons bands have done the last 2 Warped tours. I know good original music and talent. This ain't it.
oh yeah? give me the band names and i will ridicule you, and insult you just like you do to these guys. Hows that sound? Not very good, if you dont like em keep your mouth shut.
what band did you play for? who is your son and what band is he in? it seems if any of the things you said are true, you would be proud and post some vids or info, but you don't do you.
oh yeah, you know if their on the warped tour they gotta be good. give me a break. every band on the warped tour is all about getting fucked up and making mediocre music. this song was written on stage, and they play it because it gets the audience going. dont be a fool
Sorry MrDalo, but if you think the White Stripes are the best band out of Detroit, you are clueless as to the music scene in Detroit. Take a drummer who can't play any better than a wind up monkey, and take a no talent guitar player who can't sing and rips off old blues riffs and tries to pass them off as his own, and you have the White Stripes. And really, listen to the guitar solo on this clip. This guy is a no talent hack.
dont comment on other bands being bad seeing that they are better than you will ever be. See some of the new stuff. It rocks and if you cant tell that then you dont know music. They put on a hell of a live show. Ive seen them live 3 times and ive never seen anyone more fun to watch
i love them. and uh.. "yourtubesteak"... if you hate them soo much, is there a reason you looked them up on youtube? you'd think you'd have something better to do with your time then search bands you hate and leave bitchy comments about them.. just a thought.
Unoriginal cliche garage bullshit. This garage stuff is the flavor of the month in Detroit, and everybody drools over bands like this and the Muggs. The no talent White Stripes started this Detroit/garage crap and everybody jumps on the bandwagon. Most of these bands can hardly play. There are so many better bands in Detroit that don't get the attention they deserve. Listen to that lame guitar solo. It SUCKS!!!!
They opened at a Sammy Hagar concert I went to.
