The 1997 Constitution of the Maldives designates Islam as the official state religion. The Government interprets this provision to impose a requirement that citizens be Muslims. Freedom of religion is restricted significantly. The law prohibits the practice by Maldivian citizens of any religion other than Islam. The president is the "supreme authority to propagate the tenets of Islam." Government regulations are based on Islamic law (Shari'a).
Ever since the tsunami, this country has become an Islamic fundamentalist wonderland..so just remember when you book your holiday here you are helping them out...Personally I'd say your money is better spent elsewhere.
pretty gewd, but the weather got all shity now.....happens this time of every year.i never get enough of sun and the beaches.love it here. XD...all the lucky ones end up here....lol
thanks for the info. but the whole weather system has changed here...so it rains whenever...and mostly ramadans are hot and sunny but this time its raining everyday.i miss the old sunny maldives.
Global Warming caused by C02 ommissions is a load of crap -- the World was warmer 300 years ago than it was now and there was no cars or anything causing CO2.
Also a volcano eruption releases more CO2 into the atmosphere than all the cars on the planet produce in 1 year.
What we are seeing is just a natural process of warming and cooling that the Earth goes through on a natural circle.
Have you also ever thought that the gravitational pull of other planets and universes may have an effect on our weather (just like the moons gravity controls all the tides on Earth)
I´d been there last year with my parents and my sis...it was cool ;)...especially the Italian restaurant with the reef below... but this summer we´r going to another island---> Hilton Maldives ....I can´t wait :D

We have been twice in October and have found this one of the best months to go, it isn't as humid and if it rains it dries up within minutes.......
If you want nothing but sun then February is the best month as this is the driest month of the year (but you pay extra for it)

Yes I have to agree... the weather Worldwide is pretty messed up at the moment.
If it's not the flooding (we had 12 feet of flood water at bottom of street) it is heatwaves reaching 50 degrees in Europe.
