  • I don't think this song is a literal caricature or biblical interpretation. To me this song uses symbols and metaphors to articulate the longing and hopelessness of coming to terms with the experience of lost love. Everyone has there own narrative and in our own narrative we play the key, Epic, grand roll. What is more hopeless than your own epic roll going unrecognized in the definitive book of mankind.

  • jugs.

  • every time I listen her, I want to be a singer :) then i back to normal life. :) :)

  • First heard of her 4 days ago and i havn't listened to anything else since :D

  • You have been missing out. Been hearing her music since Her first album

  • I want to tour with Regina. Great performer with great songs!

  • i love her. thank you so much for this beautiful song.

  • I'm sorry right. but people dont write songs like this about the fucking Bible. clearly it's something alot more personal than that. if you want to assume that it's about a story in the bible,. then you're clearly diluded and need to stop believing everything you read on wiki"edited-by-average-clueless-people"edia.

  • @blindingsun wow, long time coming reply. But If you would watch some of the interviews Regina gives about her personal inspirations you will find she draws much from her religious background.

  • i hope she'll come into our place :D

  • the song is about the story of Samson and Delilah from the bible. its from the point of view of delilah. samson was said to have mythic strength that the philistines (waring clan against israelites) could not break. so they usead the woman delilah to seduce him and find out where is strength comes from. like any woman (lol) she used his trust to find out his hair was the source of his strength. she cut his hair while he was sleeping. he was captured and tied to columns. summerized story

  • It's not though.

Because if it's about Samson and Delilah, the lyric "the bible didn't mention us" makes no sense.

  • yea it makes sense. the bible dosent mention their "relationship." talks about how she seduced him bla bla etc, until he was captured. regina's elaborating on the story in her own light "ate a slice of wonder bread". google the song meaning anyway and you'll find it.

  • Yes it does. Regina also sings "and he couldn't bring the columns down, he didn't destroy a single 1"..she's giving an alternate history in which they didn't have the obstacle of what Samson was called to do and his strength in the way. Maybe he chose to forgo his duties because he loved Delilah more, he WANTED Delilah to cut his hair. And in the alternate history, without his big battle, there would be no big story and the bible wouldn't mention them but they would have been a happy couple.

  • I think the point is that Samson DID have a calling and feel a duty. And he died. And so it's easy to want to blame a woman - "she's a slut that just led him on to weaken him, she didn't love him, she's not even Jewish so she must be the enemy." This song is assuming none of that is true. Maybe the truth is Delilah truly loved him and maybe after he died she cried and dreamed of how things could've gone differently for them...this song.

  • I know she's using the character of samson for the song, but instead of rewriting the bible, I believe samson is being used as a symbol for strength in a man, and cutting his hair is a symbol of him being vulnerable for her.

I personally think the song is more profound that way. And more creative.

But. To each his own. That's just my opinion.

  • i think, from what i gather, there are two threads to the story she is telling.

one interpretation is the biblical, the story of samsom and delilah, and the second, the more personal story of a friend of hers who had cancer. I think that may be where the lyric you mention doesn't fit.

  • wait wait wait.. I always thought she wrote this about her boyfriend who died of cancer?.. or something along those lines...

  • who isshhh samson :3?

  • she's prolly number 1 of all the people i think can sing [well/wonderful] live

it's almost impossible to top her honestly,

  • one of my favs :)

  • wow, amazing voice, the Good is when live Voice can Hear clearer

  • ..simply amazing..wow.

  • Samson came to my bed,

told me that my hair was red...

    Oh I'm just dying here...........

  • Her voice is amazing! Wish i could meet her.. she seems soooo sweet!

  • i love it :O

  • Mostt singers are good.

But whenn they sing live there voicess are totally... Kind of badd i should say

But regina's is amazingg and she can sing live REALLY well.

    It's amazingg

    I freaking love this songg.

  • exactly:)

  • this makes my heart flutter and brings tears to my eyes, her voice is so beautiful here

  • I think I'd rather never know what it means. I kinda like the mystery of always trying to figure it out. Tons of her songs are like that. Love it.

  • I think the song is just pure and simple about a relationship that has ended. He cuts his hair, and at the same time the relationship starts to end and looses power. And it wasn't ment to be a big thing (history and bible) colloums... (proublems)... and that it ended is her sweetes downfall... That will always be my version :)

    Dog???? are you crazy?

  • Looses power in the same way as samson.. so kind of ironic...

  • how is that irony? it's been purposely put in the song as a comparison.

  • its based on the story of samson & his relationship with delilah. she wrote the lyrics from delilah's point of view.

  • i think its actualy about the girl samson was with before delilah... which would explain why the lyrics say that the history books and the bible dont have anything about them in it...

  • doesnt matter where the song

is about, believe youre own opinion

    its just a beautiful song.

  • i hate her earrings lol, and i think the song's just about samson and delilah, and no further meaning bow friends wif cancer?

  • this song is about her first love who had cancer. he lost his hair and his strength (like the biblical character) and could only eat bread and go back to bed because of the chemo. they couldnt bring the colums down meaning they didnt get to do the things they wanted, they didnt have the time. (this is my favorite interpretation i have no idea if its tru)

  • you are exactly right:)

  • After a lot of further research I am going to say we will not know until Regina does an interview and answers because there are so many saying it is about a dog and so many saying its about samson and dellilah. And I have not been able to find a credible source yet. - withdraw my earlier comment and hope regina answers this one soon!

  • This song is not about Samson and Delilah. If you listen carefully the song is about her dog. There are so many contradictions to the bible story including 'the bible didn't mention us' I think she has cleverly tied into the song that her dog is named after the bible Samson. One of my favorite songs.

  • I have never seen anyone so musically inclined in so many ways.

  • neither have I. Except for maybe the Beatles

  • it's a beautiful song i really like it.. but actually this song is about her dog whose been with her for a long time.. and it was name samson. great song.. love it.

  • its so not about her dog! how do u know that?
