  • looks like a great mobile and I am hoping to get one, but my only concern is does the omnia 2 have an alphanumeric keyboard for texting in the standard way. please can someone help. thanks

  • I'm confused about something...How can such a high resolution be supported by mainstream windows mobile apps? I heard that most will stretch to fit it, but some wont. what's the deal? It doesn't matter to me though...but it'd be nice to have an app full screen lol.

  • I like this phone, I prefer it to iphone, this is more phone than iphone it has more sensitivity and 3G works ok, no like iphone that many times lost signal and 3G works bad. Also this phone is easy to replace battery, in Iphone you need to disasembly all phone to get access to battery.

  • If you are undecided between an omnia resistive touch screen and an iphone capacitive touch screen then a good thing to help you decide could be whether you're a big texter or not. If you text so fast and text a lot then a resistive screen is for you. I've used phones with qwerty keyboards, capacitive, and resistive, and I realized that I text the fastest with a resistive screen. With resistive I can quickly tap the letters with the tip of my fingers.

  • is the facebook widget free? or do u have to pay more

  • now that the droid is out for verizon which phone would be better..omnia 2 or droid??

  • i prefer droid. the android OS on that phone is really really good.

  • touch screen responsiveness is slow :( thats the only bad thing about it. hope they fix it

  • The touch responsiveness is great, it's just the main TouzhWiz screen that doesn't respond well (unfortunately). You can disable this screen or use something like SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and it will be smooth as butter.

  • 0:16 looked like iPhone with the slide to unlock screen

  • iphone killer?

  • it seems laggy...im doing my head in trying to decide between sams. omnia i8000 or the iphone 3.8gs

  • I would get the 3GS but only because of the tons of apps available for the iPhone. Due to it's popularity, there is massive support and a giant community for the iPhone which I doubt verizon will have for the samsung.

  • when does it come out

  • REAL QUESTION / INQUIRY:

Is it possible to use this phone as a modem for the Laptop like I can use the Blackberry to connect to the intenet at 1.5Megabits?

That is VERY IMPORTANT for my business

    - Thank you in advance -

  • good queastion...not sure...im guessing not...but you might be ablre to

  • hi, even if you cant there is definitely programs that you can download to get this feature

    hope this helps

  • Yes it is. Just like the original Omnia you can tether with this phone.

  • i got this phone from singapore unlocked.

this phone is probably the best phone out there. im very impressed by the amoled screen and the hardware.

  • I've had this phone , and I have only one word ti describe it = awesome !!!

  • when does it come out for verison?!?!?!??!

  • With omnia, you can play PS1 emulator and PSP emul aslo available soon !!!!!!!

  • what is the difference between Omnia II i8000 and Jet S8003?

  • The Jet isn't windows mobile.

  • windows mobile and the omnia 2 has a biger screen

  • I really hope VZW pulls a magic rabbit out of its hat and announces that they have a Symbian and WinMo Omnia for sale together, day and date.

I mean, the HD and II vary a few megapixels, give or take a minor feature or resolution change, so subsidies should be comparable. If they really want to kick Nokia while they're down, Samsung will make it happen, take Symbian mainstream in the US off an owned identity.

WM and resistive rub me the wrong way, but I'll take the Omnia 2's brunette sister.

  • I doubt it. VZW still using CDMA which really hamstrings them when it comes to phones like this.

  • great specs and screen, but the look is just horrid

  • wow its cool..... samsung is always highst spec in the world.

    but little expensive lol

  • idk which to choose!!!!!! ahhhhhh for my new phone in 2 years lol omnia pro i like cuz keyboard, jet ,and this one omnia 2 cuz nice design and all

  • i think there is omnia hd too.

  • this is the same device as Jet, just a smartphone?

  • kinda does make a huge diff in that u can download heaps of apps n shit dont u think

  • Choices, choices, and more choices. Should I wait and get the Samsung I8000 Omnia II or the Nokia n97? Does the Samsung I8000 Omnia II have built in flash player like the n97. Unlike my stupid 2nd generation iPhone here that sometimes I would like to chunk from the tallest building I can find (there are times when I really hate this phone).

  • @blaquenoise

I believe the omnia ii will come with the latest version of ineternet explorere which has flash support.

You can also use a browser like skyfire, which has support for quicktime, flash, silverlight, etc...

  • Opera 9.5 comes built-in, if I remember correctly, and that has native flash support.

  • no it does'nt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Choices, choices, and more choices. Should I wait and get the Samsung I8000 Omnia II or the Nokia n97? Does the Samsung I8000 Omnia II have built in flash player like the n97. • dude chill, he made a mistake fukin relax

  • Fucking hell have I murdered somebody? No, so shut the fuck up!

  • wait y is there so many omnia phones?

  • it does have wifi!

Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, standard microUSB port, standard 3.5mm audio jack, GPS receiver with A-GPS

  • I was reading the specs of the old Omnia. Sorry

  • that looks a lot like iphone

  • the lagginess is due to the OS or hardware? will SPb mobile shell 3.0 helps to overcome this lag?

  • Comment removed

  • when windows mobile 6.5 comes out it wont be laggy at all. but its not very laggy.

  • all of samsungs new phones the pro, lite, jet, and omnia 2 are kinda the same

  • pro sets itself apart from design on the bottom front with it's brothers. It has smile shape instead of cube shape

  • you are right i like them all specially the omnia 2 but the interface its kinda of dull i mean its sluggish

  • Because they are of the omnia branch. Their all variations of the omnia.

  • but it depends on the quality of the touch screen and make and also capacitive touch screens are easily better than resistive

  • whats the difference between resistive capasitive and apple touchscreens?

  • capacitive is like a "real" touch screen it acknowledges ur fingers electric charge unlike resistive with is like pressure sensitive which is why u can use a stylus on the omnia and not the iphone thats about the most basic description i can give hope it helps

  • Thanks for that description, I already understood the difference, but I commonly get asked the difference and don't know how to explain it, thanks

  • Resistive uses two thin layers when pressed together to create the "touch". Not as responsive as capacitive which is the iPhone and some other phones(G1). Capacitive uses a sensor usually under glass.

  • The widgets on screen may slow down the performance. i will buy this phone in any case, but if Touch wiz 2.0 makes the phone laggy like this, i won´t use it and replace it with another GUI, like SPBmobile shell.

  • Did he just say verizon carries jet omnia on 2:10?!! i thought the jet was an unlocked gsm phone? damnit i was hopeing on getting the jet since i have t-mobile.

  • I wouldn't doubt that Verizon carried Omnia 2 because they had the first omnia. The Jet and Omnia are 2 different phones. Omnia will run windows mobile while the Jet will run Samsung's proprietary OS. Also the omnia 2 will be released as an GSM phone just like the first one was.

  • the hd is way better

  • this or jet or hd ??

  • cool phone

  • Touchwiz looks like it really sucks a big one. it looks very slow. on any phone I've seen it on.

  • it has wifi do you really think itll go to Verizon(however they will be able to destroy the operating system)

  • the first omnia had wifi and it was for verizon

  • wow the new samsung phones looks sweet! the new omnias look much better than thr originals.

  • looks pretty laggy to me

  • was that a d pad or a touck pad

  • i could tell u if i knew what the fuck a touck pad is.

  • Phonedog has some of the best intro music to get you in the mood to watch the video, this one sound clip is the best!

  • does this phone also have the optical mouse?

  • that phone sucks!

  • no verizon users want this garbage windows mobile give us simbian like the europeans or the web OS of the pre

  • Maby I do! asshole

  • no need to be hostile. wouldnt you want a blackberry OS?

  • Blackberry OS?

  • operating System

  • windows mobile 6.1 but upgradable to 6.5 in the future. but windows mobile works very well with the Samsung phones especially the omnia. also 6.5 is gonna be a lot better and samsung has there own interface over windows mobile.

  • I just got the first one and theres a fucking second? God dammit

  • ahahah dude that sucks.

  • lol They didn't release it on verizon though so idk for now...

  • WOW! geez that sucks. You should've waited a little longer =/

  • please do keep in mind that this is the demo version, of course it won't be as good or as fast as the finished version.

  • ppl forget about that EVERY time !

  • it makes me laugh to se how people respond to diferent phones, and I am just sitting here, sipping on my drink wondering if they know that it's a demo version or not. It's not been released yet so don't you think they wil fix what lacks.

  • im tired of verizon they sux

im tired of touch screen ONLY phones.

OMG IT HAS AN AWESOME SCREEN!!

so what there is more to life than just visuaL features

  • verizon?! are you serious?

    verizon sucks!

  • what carrier doesn't suck?

  • Is this a verizon phone?

  • it doesn't seem to be responsive.

  • thats cuz its resistive touch.i hate resistive touch.i like capacitive cuz it works with ur touch instead of against it

  • its fuckin laggy as shit

  • i would rather they release the omnia HD, on verizon, over omnia 2

  • or even the pro, or is that going to be on verizon too?

  • Ok I'm sure it's supposed to be a great phone, but ever since I went through the HELL of owning a Glyde, I will never own a touchscreen Samsung again.

  • did the touchscren sensitivity get worse as u used it?

  • Oh yeah! I got the firmware update and it really helped at first, but then it started getting progressively worse and worse. It was horrible. My wife's is even more terrible. I have a Voyager now. TOP NOTCH!

  • crap, cuz thats exactly wats hapening to my eternity.

  • Oh that sucks. Do like I did. I checked craigslist almost every day until I found something. I actually found a girl on craigslist who traded her practically brand new Voyager for my Glyde. Just keep looking. Good deals are out there.

  • It's so sexy! I wanna get one ;D

  • 10th Post =]

  • I hope we get this on VZW soon!

  • Verizon wireless already has a samsung omnia.

  • There's a typo in the title, it's supposed to be the Samsung Omnia 2 :P.

  • yeah but that was the CDMA version not GSM
