  • thank u for this video i have a question

in my church i do sound there is a lot of reverb on the house do you think that the bass woofer will make sound muddy or very boomy?

  • this a good guy helping others...god bless ya!

  • Thanks. Valuble info. I'm setting up a small budget biamped pa system for our band. Have two pwr amps 600w (subs) & 300w (midhighs), a mono crossover, Mackie 16 ch. mixer board, an old peavey effects rack unit w/ delay, 2 Peavy mid-high towers w/ 4 12s and a Horn and 2 Peavey 18" subs. Was wondering if you could explain how to do this in a mono 2-way situation rather than in stereo. I think the Peavey mid-high towers have a passive crossover already built into them, this shouldn't matter right?

  • thx, learned much from you !

all you need to buy is a camera for hd video recordings ;)

    regards

  • Nice guy

  • J, seriously, anytime i am confused about something while i am looking around on youtube, i end up on your channel, and i instantly know how to fix my problems! Thanks mate!

  • Thanks mate, very informative. You have a good knowledge of what your doing!

  • I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE WIRES

  • Hello Boss, please i have (4)18'' subwoofer,(4) 15'' subwoofer and (4) 15'' speaker with tweeter as Top.Can u please tell me how many Amplifier will drive alltogether and how will i connect to the Amp pls.

    Thanks

  • @kindellkindell Probably looking at about 4 amps for subs, and possible one big one or two smaller ones for the tops. Need specs and power/impedance ratings

  • Hello Boss, please i have (4)18'' subwoofer,(4) 15'' subwoofer and (4) 15'' speaker with tweeter as Top.Can u please tell me how many Amplifier will drive alltogether and how will i connect to the Amp pls.

    Thanks.

  • Fantastic !! Understood it all !!And you made sence , better than any music store cause you know your products !

  • First of all, there's the cat, lol! And yeh its a passive system instead of an active. further than that great explaination :D

  • nice stuffs , thanks

  • dude this is a 2 way passive speaker system not active .. active dnt need a crossover or powewr amps

  • Realy thanks

  • if ur sub is active, itll hava crossover, so u can put anysignal into it

  • ok looking at the comments as well i will ask this i have

    2 x cerwin vega int 118s subs

    2 x cerwin vega int 152 tops

    1 x cerwin vega cv2800 amp

tell me how can i get the best sound from this kit ? maybe another amp or crossover ? can anyone help.

  • The mid top (full range speakers) look big, by running their signal through the mid top active crossover U will be loosing some potential bass, i would keep mid top speakers smaller than 10" otherwise run them as full range and use an eq if you need to. If U filter out the bass with the active xover in such big speakers Ur loosing lots of good mid bass. Ideally what U should be telling people is that they want smaller full range or separate component system speakers to go with an active xover.

  • ive got a pa spekaer could i plug the speakers in to a speaker amp via the right cable?

  • VERKAUFST DU DIE MIR NUR DIE 4 boxen

  • May have been asked before but...Whats the ID on the tune he's playing?

  • hey j ive got 2 kam extreme 15 bassbins which need 1400w at 80hms will the kam kca 1600w give enough power

  • This is NOT a Active PA System...

    Thats PASSIV!

Active mean the Amp is builtin in the Box!

  • the title refers to an "active" crossover, although true multiway systems dont use passive X-Overs. The speaker level signal goes direct to the terminals on the woofer/driver (at least for subs anyway). For bi-amped top/mid cabs, four conductor cable is used with speakon NL-4MP installed in the cabinet. 2 pairs carry mid, 2 pairs carry top signal. No passive X-Overs installed.

  • love yr vids m8,

hey what u think about HQ POWER speakers (400w 10" LF + 1" piezo tweeter) ? are they crap, or are they ok?

i'm just a begginer and want to throw small parties and stuff like that,

    what u think?

  • @rajakay1

look at jonathans video: how to link 2 amps.

you can use one 2 way stereo crossover and link the two high-mid amps. maybe the cheapest way.

or you also use some stuff like the driverack pa, which gives you more freedom and makes it easier for you to adjust features like crossover frequency, which can be set digitally at e.g. exact 80Hz and with butterworth 6/12/18/24/48dB or linkwitz-riley 24/48dB mode which can't be fit that perfect with a analog knob. but it's not that cheap.

  • @93ajay93

you can run 3 way mono, so you need 2 crossovers. a all in one solution which i can recommend is the dbx driverack pa or pa+. this is a mixed corssover, delay, limiter, equalizer, limiter, etc.

it can handle up to 6 speakers (6 outputs), configurable as a 3-way stereo solution.

  • @damos29:

there are some possibilities but with limitations.

i won't suggest you them in detail because i'd suggest you to buy a second amplifier, which can be bridged to get the power, so it doesn't cost so much.

if you want, send me a pm with you specifications of your sub (ohms, rms watts) and your budget and i'll make you some suggestions.

i would also send you a solution for 2 tops & 1sub on 1 amp via pm, but i won't paste it here, because this is shity stuff and not to be recommended.

  • can i run 2 speakers and a sub on 1 amp only?

  • Gr8 Demo, missed this one¬

  • hi mate i got 2 pairz of tops and 2 pair of tops so all to gether i have 8 speckers will i need 2 pa crossovers or 2 thanks alot

  • oh ye, by the way, running 2 speakers of each amp lol .

  • hey. can you run 3 amps from that crossover

    1 bass amp

    1 mid amp

    and 1 high amp ?

    thankxz

  • finally something that better explain how to connect everything.

  • Szkoda, że nie po polsku ale nie znalazłem informacji na temat cięcia?! :(

    HI+MID -> 120hz - N

    LO -> 0 - 80hz (+subsonic cut 40hz).

    Ja stosuję takie.

  • Bass works up to about 88 hz, at the 90-100 you got some seriouse KICK that needs to be put in to the face of people = the Mid =)

  • Hey I have a Qsc RMX 2450, im using two yamaha s115 monitors in my mobile setup. If i wanted to add a sub would i put the monitors on one channel and put them on parallel inputs and dedicate the second channel to the sub? thanks!

  • If you have active speaker you should get a digital processor for the new crossovers curves..

The DSP (digital processing unit) can give you stereo channels and sub channels...

    OR

You can use the left channel to your sub if you have a passive system, since the left channel is commonly used for mono..

  • I only have a Master and REC output on the back of my mixer. they ae both RCA output types. My question is - "How do I connect my TWO active speakers to the ONE master output? use RCA splitters?

  • Is it better than the EP2500 some told me that the EP2500 is better so i am in a position i don't know what to do........

  • Hey this is sweet you have some great vids , i am new to this stuff an just have some simple questions i am buying a gift for my friend's birthday he has 4 eminence Beta 10' with 4 selenium D250 drivers he needs a powerful amplifier my budget is about $300 USD , I have the choice of a Technical Pro L4Z4001 this is a 4ch amp with 660 W @ 4 ohm x 4 and a Europower 2500 I think is like 750 @ 4 ohm x 2 so what do u recommended ? and can you tell me which amp has more power ?

  • technical pro

  • the europower 2500 has more power but you can only plug 4 speakers the technical pro has less power but you can plug 8 speakers. its your choice.. i would prefer the technical pro because if you plug 8 good speakers with many watts something like 400 watts you are going to have 2400 watts. But you said he has 4 speakers well i think that technical pro is also good for 4 speakers because he is going to have 1600 watt my friend!! i think its good.. ;)

  • lmao the cat!!!!

  • john, i need your help trying to figure out how to run my sub with my system.

i have the yorkville elite setup 2 15's and the sw800 18 inch sub i do have the processor for this system. need help on how to setup. using qsc gx5 and crown microtech 1200 amps. any help is appreciated thanks

  • two things, you dont need to shout when the amps are turned down and dress sense man!! socks and shorts, beenie hat and you did this in feb !! bizarre

  • How would you set it up the exact same except with only one subwoofer?

  • in the UK KAM have a 3 way amp, R & L and a bass out so you can atach a single bass cab.

    j

  • @ellaskins can you tell me how i would use my pa system with a diffrent amp 4 my bass (crossfader)

what im saing i wanna have a high amp and a bass amp some dj's said to get a crossfader but i dont know what a crossfader is plz helpp

  • @ellaskins Hey,

Because bass is undirectional.. Why is it stereo? Or is that just purely for 2 subs? x

  • hey i was just wondering i have an active crossover a powerd amp and a passive pa system and passive speakers high mid range and sub how to you recomend setting them all up??? thanks

  • hi good day nice video very helpful, thanks once again, can you please guide how to connect a live reinforcement for a band, like the mixer, cross over then the effects and the speakers.thanks

  • thanks for all the info you put on here slick...helps alot..

  • dude its bas mid high not treble bot cool set up i like the hk actor its a 4 sub 2 top set so 2 sub and 1 top per side but that set is cool to

  • get a new hat

  • hey im a begining dj and need help. do you need a crossover to play out of or can i hook my amp directly to my speakers?

  • you dont need a crossover but you need an amp

if u have a sub you should have a crossover.... and 2 amps...

  • geat that realy helped me ta by the way i was wondering what kind of mid top speakers did you use and how many watts do each out put

    thanks that was awsome

  • ALSUM VIDEO MAN. really helped me 2 wire a active crossover up as i was completely confused how 2 wire it up. as i have got a behinger super x pro cx2310. on the xlrs on the back i have the imputs from mixer then i had 4 xlr ports 1 said high next 1 said mid/low next xlr is high (not to be used for some reason) then low/mid so in a way i have mid/low from right hand side 2 right side of amp and mid/low on left side 2 left chan of amp and have high right 2 right side and high left 2 left side.

  • Hi I would like to know what kind of amplifier I would need for a B-52 LX-18. Some specs about the subwoofer are it has 750 watts peak program, and 1500 watts peak power. Please help me

  • it doesn't matter which amplifier you use, i think. the only important thing is, that your amplifier has more power than the subwoofer or speaker. the reason is, because if you turn your amplifier to full power, the sound-quality will dicrease. your speaker won't get broken if your amplifier is stronger...there are lots of sites about that.

  • poor advice bro, you want amps to be around or just above the rms and deffo not above the peak. you dont want to blow anything!

just match the speaker resistance (in ohms) to the amps ones - look at some of ellaskins other vids for more ingo.

  • oh yeah, forgt to say that with the peak...thanks for correcting me

but, couldn't i simply take an amplifier that has twice the power and simply turn it half up?

  • its cool, but you should always turn your amps up full then back a tiny bit. then control the volume using your mixer.

the way to tell ur amp is being overpowered is to listen for distortion through the speakers. if u hear crackling then turn ur mixer volume down a bit

  • ok thanks for the advice!

  • How much were the speakers

  • what make r the bassbin's and the bass amp thanks m8

  • how do you connect 2 speakers and one sub to 2 amps? do i have to have a crossover?

    i have

two - JBL TR 225 (two 15" speakers and a horn each)

    one - nady 18" sub

one - Crown CE1000 poweramp 1100 watts bridged

one - Nady XA-900 poweramp 900 watts bridged

  • J how do you get on with the vortex 15 in subs...i have decided on the some jbx 15 ala brian but to be honest transportation of 18in subs worries me are 15s a reasonable option even if i run one sub only. cheers j

  • In any pa system could you put a wireless microphone into it?

you know with them xlr cables?

    (Aiden)

    XX

  • cheers mate thats helped with some stuff. but can u do a vid on what the nobs on a crossovers do ??

  • Would the bass not be mono??

  • well you do have th option to run the bass as a mono setup, however if you have the option and a stero crossover, you can actually run a stero setup... It's better for a DJ syste usually, because of all the use of PAN's

  • man you can see the camera jumping abit:P

    at 8:20

  • dude, thats a passive system not active. Active is when the speakers are self powered. Passive is when you need a power amplifyer.

  • No but the splitting (crossover) is active, not a passive xover in a speaker. Then you have passive/ active speakers themselves

  • Thanks again. Some good gear.

  • Nice advise J.

What's the name of the track you played?

  • Enzyme Black ft Lainy " take it" out Feb 2008 , friggin big big big

  • thanks j, that cleared some stuff up for me

  • Wow really impressive speakers, and the hookup is a bit comlicated for me to follow so far lol, great track, thanks a lot!

  • damn thats a lot of wires lol

  • another reason is the magnetic poling in the speakers ;)

  • Nice speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Lol

  • Thanks John. It was a great help but due to handy cam mic i couldn't hear the change in audio that much.

But it was great help in learning to set up the speakers with the cross over.

    Thanks again.

  • *together

  • Neat song too.

  • Random cat at 00:28. I giggled.

  • wow man ive bin watching your videos for over a year now and i still cant believe your posting one almost every day for 365 days +. Good job they are really helpful.

  • Brilliant vid j

How would you rate that system in comparison to your rcf monsters?

  • to richardcdj, give me a few more gigs and i will let you know. j

  • Doesnt anyone get annoyed by your music? Nice vid J thanks a lot!!

  • to scimu, i live in the country away from other houses, : )

     j

  • J...3dB = a doubling of electrical power.

for a human to perceive a doubling of accoustic level you would need a gain of 10 dB. assuming you were measuring it A weighted...ps dont forget the inverse square law...distance/SPL

  • Just to 2nd that information, yes, everytime you add +3dB of volume, you have to double your power. +1 dB minimum required to tell the volume has been increased in your living room. However, +3 dB is the minimum required to notice an increase in volume in at a real world gig. Doesn't sound like much, but if you consider the first part, that +3dB requires double the power, then coupling your subs is worth it to achieve the same volume at HALF the power.

  • Also, again, since bass is non-directional, you do not have to place your subs between your tops. If you have a good wall to load against, or best, a corner, you can get additional gain by firing your subs into the wall/corner. With horns, you can gain as much as +12 dB in ideal conditions, but you need to know how to properly load into wall/corner, so research before you try it.

  • its nice to converse with like minded people, have you had a look at the speakers my brother & i build..? just clik on my name .

  • You beat me to it, thanks

  • nice to see you using balenced feeds jon,,,another great vid mate, you might want to look at a couple of our speakers that me and my brother make..if you have 10 mins to yourself..lol.

  • Just taken a look!, you guys have the PRO, PRO, PRO X 1,000,000 audio kit!!, love it! but hate the price!! lol. j

  • chears mate,,both looking at the same result entertaining our public,,

  • can you do video on the cross over telling us what one as and have to use and set up one

  • will do

    J

  • Suggestion: Take a Piece of white tape and color it on each side of the cables for demo purposes.
