The drums and the buzzing noises really set the mood for this race. Without even known the name of the song, my mind referred to them as swarms of bees when they were ALL AROUND MY MOTHER SHIP. >.>
I loved this battle. Nothing quite like stealing almost all of the multi-beam frigates and a dozen or so swarmers (especially the leader swarmers). Those things were absolute murder on ships later in the game.
@Barricade You know, the collection of assets at your own pace once you could contain any threat the enemy might pose was what I loved about the first game.
The second game is beautiful, truly a masterpiece, but the campaign was just way rushed. In HW1 I took my time honing my fleet/assimilating enemy ships and only hyper-spaced once I was certain I'm ready for what may be waiting for me on the other side. I wanted to be ready for the worst.
Sadly HW2 forces you to jump upon mission success...
@Kevooi Because the Hiigaran people had no time to sit around and build up ships, the game did not allow you such luxuries. Their world and all of the worlds between them and the Vaygr Reaches were being ruthlessly annihilated; therefore any Hyperspace Inhibitor systems that held them back (Keepers, anyone?) distressed them beyond measure. For every moment they did not find victory, more Hiigarans died fighting to hold back the Blockade.
You make a valid point. My only REAL problem was the fear of leaving behind resources, which were luckily auto-collected after mission completion. I'm just going to have to adapt is all.
Im all nostalgic now, such a great game, everything was spot on. The Kedesh leavels were some of the most atmospheric and the music has stuck in my mind. thanks for uploading it.
You've been kicked out of your house, and lost your job. Wandering the streets in despair, you stumble blearily into a public park, and take a seat on a nearby bench. Little did you know that a homeless man was sleeping under it. You apologize for your intrusion and try to leave; not only does he not forgive you, but he dedicates his life to trying to kill you. And on top of that, he's a religious nut.
I always loved the Homeworld-Series....and the Music is one of the most atmospheric . More than in any other game. This piece of music is very calm and has it's own eastern charm. Thank you for posting it. I nearly forget about this great music in this epic game.
This is the Garden of Kadesh. For thirteen generations we have protected it from the...unclean. The Turanic Raiders who came before you refused to join and were...punished for this trespass. Like theirs, your ship has already defiled this holy place. If you have come to join we welcome you and will spare your ship until all have disembark. If you have come to consume the garden you will be removed at once. What are your intentions?
@kimori676 "Again we offer you the chance to join us and live here in peace." "You will fail. The evil that drove us here will find and destroy you. From you they will know of us and come here. This cannot come to pass."
First time I played this mission I got EVERYTHING destroyed, including my research ship. But Swarmers can't destroy your Mothership. So that sucked. lol
@XDarkLordXP build up some heavy & multingun corvetes next time and stay sharp :) You should succed next time. Oh, and also watch out for the enemy mothership, becouse it has a nasty habit of ramming Your capis ships when You aproach it, so keep Your fleet at a distance. Don't forget about fighter cover for Your caps while they're atacking the mothership (unless you want to see them destroyed by all that small shit that will be thrown at you) Oh, and eliminate the fuel pods first, that'll help.
it doesn't. Homeworld 2 does though. It even adapt to your type of ships. lets say you have multiple capital ship the enemy is going to have the counter to that.
@viralhatred lol. it is rather bad. There is still some ship you want to avoid building out right, so that give you a small advantage in ship selection.
I personally really hated the AI toward marine frigate. what ever happen the AI will ALWAYS target the marine frigate above anything else. A funny tactic is using the frigate to distract the enemy but stay out of range so they keep running after it. So your ship can just happily blow them in space dust.
i remember this mission because of this music. my interceptors getting swarmed and destroyed one by one by all those brown things. that mission was so hard.
Heavy corvettes were truly life savers in this mission =)
(that and stealing multibeam frigates and fuel pods (the former for use, latter for RU's)

The most haunting, beautiful, tragic mission in the entire game.

when one of the needle ships first opened fire on the mothership with their central ion cannon, i nearly had a heart attack.
I thought they were as defenseless as my own mothership :D

Worst feature of HW2 as a HW1 Veteran playing it for the first time. "Better build up my fleet for the next mission"
*Loads next level*
Oh come on! A cruiser! Frigates! Corvettes!?
Especially troublesome on the shipyard level.
